The chicken is always overly salty or cooked in grease that has been long overdue for a change, potato wedges are tasteless, you don't get what you pay for. "World Famous" fried chicken? Maybe if you've never left Baltimore and that's all you've ever tried (RF is a Baltimore-area based store) Summer 2016 was not bad, but this store has a history of staff with less-than-pleasant attitudes. There are better stores, but if you're hell bent on lackluster prepared food, this is up your alley. Drive to Wawa for a gas station sandwich if you choose, or consider takeout sandwich from Louies down on the ocean block. Chicken though, Jimmy's Grille is superior in comparison. If you're looking to fill you gas tank, buy your weekly lottery tickets or a dozen Krispy Kreme Donuts, and fill belly with Fried Chicken - then you've found the one stop shop. I was pretty surprised that the chicken here was pretty good. Theres a lot of food options to choose from. When I ordered a 10 piece, you can get the choice of a mix piece an all dark piece. What was good about this place is that you can request to have an order fried fresh - you do just have to wait about 8 minutes, but I'd say it's worth it! If I were to compare - I'd say the chicken was a lot like KFC. We didn't stay very far from the gas station (about 5 min) and the chicken remained fairly crisp - even if they put it in in a plastic travel bag. There aren't nearly as many staff here as are needed. Friends and I pulled up to grab some made-to-go food and enjoy the park across the street. Nearly 40 minutes later, we had a small basket of chicken, a hamburger, and a chicken salad sub. The line of folks waiting for their food overtook the check-out line, and folks who just stopped by for a drink had to wade through the rest of the crowd to get to the registers. The self-serve station -- icees, fountain drinks, etc. -- was a disgusting mess, as was the condiments station, which was out of the cutlery and instead of napkins had a roll of paper towels. I've never been in a Royal Farms that was in such a state. Disappointing, considering the convenient location across from the park. But we learned our lesson -- next time, we'll pack a lunch. read more

This was truly a poor experience. At 1:30 the manager announced that there would be no further orders. Before that we placed a $38 order The manager gave us 3 pieces of chicken in a small box. We pointed out the dollar amount paid. The manager was completely arrogant, saying they we must have been at fault because he had made his announcement. Of course, that was after we had placed and paid for our order. I demanded a refund and he reprimanded me "not to have an attitude". He did process the Refund but was totally ineffectual. It took him 20 minutes to do so, needing to be on the phone the whole time. He said that, if we had a problem we could "call corporate". Very rude and abrupt service. Came in, wearing a mask (surgical, not ski), and the clerk (dark skinned male) barked that they were closing in two minutes. We asked if there was a rest room and he again barked there were none. Is it ok to close early despite 24 hours? Sure. Must they have a public restroom? Their choice. But to be a jerk and drive away potential customers? No way. I'm done with RF's chicken (though we still love our RoFo gas discount for fill-ups). Anyway...I've gone to 3 different ones in the Rehoboth Beach and Lewes, Delaware area and their chicken is now consistently terrible--it's burnt and tastes of rancid oil. Every. Time. It was our "go-to" fried chicken destination for years and we referred to it as crack chicken. When the family came to visit we always had to buy 2 full bags of RF's fried chicken so we didn't have to cook that first night. It became a real tradition. I know it seems silly to bitch about something like this but damn I had a family member who worked at RFs and made that chicken and says it was actually hard work but made to a very specific recipe and protocol and fairly fool-proof so this comes down to management and training. Also, I often see those behind the counter not wearing their masks ABOVE their noses. Damn man, it's been a year now, it takes less time to toilet train a toddler. I stopped by the store on the corner of rt 1 and 24 in Rehoboth. I ordered a egg and scrapple sandwich. It was the worse ever. All was precooked which is fine if you know how to precook and keep decent. It was terrible. If you are going to compete with wawa you have slit of work to do. read more

I live just down the road and have been to this Royal Farms many many times. I always find the chicken to be hot and delicious, which to me is Royal Farms calling card, so that's a big plus. Sausage Biscuits are delicious. At the same time the wedges I've found 4 or 5 times to be a little cold here though, so there's a little room for improvement. This corner store is typical of a small city store. Small and cramped. Staff work very hard to keep it clean. At times it's under staffed. Chicken is delicious. Coffee is delicious and a bargain at $1.00. Staff and management are friendly. Negative comments about the store aren't warranted and unfair. The store was originally a Lewes Diary store and is in need of update. It's better than the 7-11 that closed. Parking is an issue during the height of the tourist season. The store can't stock all product because of size limitations but generally customers find what they want. Great before going to the beach or gym. read more

Cloverland Dairy milk is super fresh, as it's delivered here directly from the dairy plant in Baltimore twice/week. Just check the sell-by date to make sure you're getting the freshest available. Manager Lisa and assistant manager Tanya are energetic, kind people, who have gone out of their way to get me milk from the storeroom when the dairy case has run low. Their shift starts at 5:30 am so admire their work ethic. Lisa was marooned at the highway location during the January 2018 blizzard, and worked 2 days straight when the roads weren't passable except by 4-wheel drive. Buy 6 gallons of milk, get one free if you join their loyalty program. Also gets you 10 cents off per gallon on gas at their highway locations. My husband and teenager have tried the fried chicken and report it's A-OK. Loyalty program on chicken as well, and on other items which we don't happen to buy (soda & candy, etc.). Not much healthful food, but hey, it's a convenience store. read more

Location Rt 24 & St 1 Rehobot h DE. HORRIBLE! Understaffed, lazy employees. A month ago, I waited 45 minutes for my chicken order. There were 2 on staff. The person in the back moved like a sloth while the person on the counter was multitasking helping the loser that makes the chicken.There were only a few people in the store....about 6:30 pm. The gas pumps, when working pump very slow. I have it a pass. 2 nights ago at 6pm I went again. There was one other chicken customer. I waited about 15 minutes while the only person behind the food counter watched buns toast and sliced some bacon. I only needed 8 pieces of chicken out in a bag. It's a great place to dash in for a sandwich, ice, drinks, etc. on the way to the beach. A very busy store and the staff can be a bit testy at times, but it's to be expected especially during tourist season. A lot of out of town customers are rude, in too much of a hurry and treat the locals who work in retail like dirt. Slow down. Relax...you're at the beach. The sand and water will still be there. I like the staff. I like the store (better than 7/11 across the street). 4 stars because sometimes the dine and dash buffet needs to be refreshed and looks crappy, but otherwise, it's a great little place to stop for snacks and refreshments. read more
