Palak paneer, Jackfruit curry, vegetable korma

Cute spot but the patio fills up quickly, so get here early if you want to sit outside (we arrived around 6:10 and had to sit inside to avoid a wait). We got three dishes to share and two naans (one garlic and one butter) which were all good! The naan was large but the garlic naan didn't taste of garlic. Overall the food was good and a much needed break from seafood. Like everyone in Bar Harbor, there is no attached parking but there's a pay lot across the street ($4/hour).

Seeking a vegetarian option, I found this place open for its last day of the season. The menu in person was a bit more limited that what I found online; notably I had hoped for veggie momos given the place had a bit of a Nepali flair, but they didn't have them. The options they did have were fairly basic. The dal that I ordered was fresh and had a complex spice mix, and the naan was fresh and crispy. It was a bit too much salt and frankly just not a ton of food for the money I paid. I was satisfied to have found something vegetarian, but I've had better.

    Disappointing Chicken Tikka Masala

We visited this restaurant on 10/12/25. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, along with other dishes. However, when we received the food, we found the Chicken Tikka Masala to not be made in the traditional manner. We returned to the restaurant to ask for a refund or to switch this entree, to which the restaurant staff rudely declined. I would NOT come back here to order food again and would also WARN others to NOT come here if they are looking for top notch service. Go to another restaurant in Bar Harbor if you are looking for quality service and food. Come here if you want to be disappointed in the quality of service the restaurant staff offers customers! Update: We cut open the chicken and it was pink inside. The restaurant served us raw chicken. Do not come here.

We came in hungry and I love I Indian food. This is one of the best ever!! Because we're in Maine I got a lobster tandoori. The size was great!!! Perfect flavors. The sauce with it was super yummy and so was the rice. My husband had sahi paneer with no spice. It was really good and lots of cheese. Good naan too. We will come back!

Royal Indian is an excellent restaurant staffed by the most welcoming family and most creative kitchen team! Our food was delish! An earlier reviewer wrote, "I love when a place takes a local ingredient and does some fusion with another cuisine. Of course I'm talking about lobster in this case." This is a perfect reflection of Royal Indian. My wife did just this and it was the best choice. The presentation was lovely and it was so tasty! I chose a chicken dish given its 5-star recommendation on the menu, so tasty! We started with Samosas and pickled chutney. The garlic naan was a generous portion and served hot. It was a wonderful addition. The local brewer, Atlantic, supplies a "Bar Harbor Real Ale" and it too was the perfect accompaniment! The prices were reasonable (what a refreshing change from the rest of the restaurants in Bar Harbor) and I would return. Thank you and best wishes for a great season! Patrick Shaughnessy Chicago, IL

The only Indian restaurant in Bar Harbor area. The food was ok, I wouldn't say that it was amazing. We had the momos that were delicious. The saag paneer was just ok, too creamy and the chana masala was basic.

Butter naan, butter chicken, tandoori chicken

The staff was really kind and attentive. The food was SO GOOD and easily the best thing we ate in Bar Harbor. Especially after multiple days straight of American food it was so nice to have some different flavors. Some of the best Indian food I've ever had. Definitely go here!! I'd go again and again.

dinking around in the atlantic northeast for a couple days and nothing says Maine like curry! it's so good..! okay, maybe everything says Maine better but the aromas wafting in the night air told them all to pound sand... made our way over from the druggist and got a table on the patio until a breeze picked up and we went inside like normal people; overhead was calm and low enough to just cover the sounds of business and mute the other tables, spare furnishings but not uncomfortable and the food were absolutely... started with samosa unlike any my lovely bride has encountered; larger and crustier and looks like a hostess snack pie but filled with potatoes and peas and stuff not bad lemon pudding. butter chicken for MLB to avoid the heat common to indian cuisine. she enjoys the bold flavours but is delicate and frequently overcome by anything spicier than fancy ketchup. my Chicken Vindaloo was hot and spicy - too spicy for MLB to have more than the smallest taste without overwhelming her delicate palate. I could have stood a little more heat but will trade for depth and character any day - bland heat I can get from ghost peppers but to what end? I don't know enough about india to guess about the authenticity but I know good eats when I have them and these are they. would totally eat here again.

This was such a good experience. The food was good and we're picky. The daal and saag were homemade tasting. The kids enjoyed the butter chicken(more like the chicken tikka masala we're used to). The gulab jamun with the chai were a perfect ending to a good meal. Miss Rita was such an amazing host. Her smile and service were on point. They run a well oiled machine here. We missed our morning chai and Rita Ji made sure we got a good cup. Definitely come and ask for her.

This is a shame, because the place brings a great culinary diversity to an area where others might, as I did, want to pull over on the way to Bar Harbor. Vegan options were plentiful, and I got my coconut-infused curry with chickpeas, receiving a zingy, spicy flavor. Their naan was somewhat unconventionally given as an appetizer with chutneys, but this worked fine for me and it was freshly grilled. The portion size for the price was not huge, and I was actually surprised that they didn't do traditional Sri Lankan dishes like kootu paratha, but I was happy that i pulled over, and the option remains to travelers for a little while longer.

The place has few tables and a tin ceiling, and played some awesome retro forties music. Divine. The mulligatawny stew was fab, had tons of chicken and a good broth. The butter chicken was superb and the naan fresh baked. What a delicious meal. We got dessert there, a Mom's cake, that was full of nuts and had a side of cream that blew us away. So good! The service was spot on and attentive. I cannot wait to go back--as long as it's winter. You can't get a table there in the summer months. That is ok by me--I like having the place to locals in the winter. It feels homey.

Also, he didn't even try to hide that he was pulling food out of a freezer to reheat for us. I think for these prices they should at least hide the freezer. This restaurant is takeout only. It appears they used to have seating and buffet, but is closed for some reason. No problem though, take out is fine! I'd say it's pretty pricey for Bangor area. They do give generous portions though. We ordered the following: 1. Samosa: Nicely done with chat masala sprinkled on it. The green chutney was good, but I'd prefer they didn't use food coloring or whatever they use to make it EXTRA green. Good flavors 4/5 2. Malai Chicken: "Butter chicken" - good chicken to gravy ratio. Chicken pieces are large which I prefer over the cubed chicken some other places do. Lacking a little flavor in my opinion. Could be because it was mild? 3.5/5 3. Navratan korma: Mixed vegetables with potatoes in a gravy. Flavor was great. 4/5 4. Garlic naan & butter naan: 2 pieces per order. Garlic was not overly flavored with garlic requiring mints after :-) We ordered over the phone. I will say they did not ask a spice level and it was just mild. Next time I will specify medium to see if this enhances their dishes. Took about 30 minutes for the order, not bad. I want to give this place another shot since we love Indian food, so I'll report back with hopefully adding an extra .

The bad thing about arriving after two is that there was a shift change, which meant that customers were seated but not served. We waited an hour for our appetizers. There were customers seated after us who got their entire meal and finished by the time we got served. Not the best way to treat customers. Fortunately, the food was great. The samosa appetizer was really good. I also had paneer korma which was out of this world. Flavor, flavor, flavor was the name of the game. I have not had any better, which was a very pleasant surprise. Florida has many Indian restaurants, and frankly, none of them come close. I can't wait to go through the menu!

Our waitress was attentive and gave great suggestions and the meal was well paced, which we especially appreciated as we were seeing a show afterwards. Favorites included the saag paneer, chicken korma, and garlic naan. The mutter was also great! And the punugulu was the perfect appetizer for sharing. The masala (tea) was the only thing I wouldn't get again. It was fine, but not as rich and flavorful as other places I've had it.
