What a lovely place! We chose a window street that overlooked the Main Street which was entertaining. From the time we walked in, Staff were warm and welcoming. Everyone worked together to ensure we were taken care of. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. We left there happy and full. If ever in the area again, we would revisit for another wonderful meal.

I would rate this place as just average. We were excited to try Sri Lankan food for the first time and the menu looked decent. However we were disappointed with the overall experience here. I had wanted to try a mushroom curry dish. However when I ordered found out that were out of mushrooms and naan. It seems that they don't have enough ingredients to feed their guests. They also turned away two couples who didn't have advance reservations. This was around 6:30pm, well before the weekend dinner rush. The dishes we did get were ok. We tried the cashew curry with eggplant and the Sri Lankan curry with paneer. Overall just average and disappointing that they didn't have naan. I did really enjoy the lentil cakes we had as appetizers. Parking is available on the streets nearby (unmetered, free). We had no trouble finding parking.

What a great little spot! I walked in around 5pm on a Saturday, with no reservation, and was lucky to snag a table. This is a small dining room so even this early in the season, make sure you call ahead! The curried radish special was an excellent appetizer. The naan did seem to be not from a tandoor, as another reviewer mentioned, but was good. The onion chutney on the side was my favorite of the three accompaniments. For dinner, I had the Sri Lanken curry with tuna. What a cool option to provide as protein! It was cooked to near perfection with one piece slightly less done than I'd like, but I left it in the sauce a little longer and that worked perfectly. The only reason for docking a star - I ordered it medium and the server told me their medium is pretty spicy and asked if I was sure. (I heard a different server saying the same to a table next to me later.) I ended up ordering "medium minus" - what the server called "mild-medium" - because of that hesitation and wish I hadn't. The dish came out what I would consider mild. (For reference, I usually order my Thai food 2/5 and my Indian food medium on a mild/med/hot scale.) I also grabbed some mushroom vindaloo for takeout, because there are few options open right now on Sundays and Mondays. This one I ordered medium and could've gone with medium+, but was a much better spice level. I'm not used to cream in my vindaloo, but the menu calls it out so it's not a total surprise. Service was faster than expected. They quoted a ~35 minute wait for takeout and I got my food in 20. I didn't feel rushed but also never waited on anything from the kitchen. Definitely worth a stop if you've called ahead to make a reso!

Coastal Maine isn't just about the lobster! As vegetarians it can be a challenge to find a decent place to eat. Serendib is one of those places. we stopped in one evening and were thrilled to find several meatless options. We started with the lentil cake appetizer- fried mashed lentils with a mango chutney sauce. Spicy and tasty. For main entrees we had the cashew curry with eggplant and the rice & curry meal which was their Sri Lanka curry with excellent sides of salty dal and a sweet beetroot curry. The Sri Lanka curry had chunks of "meaty" mushrooms in it. Although we like spicy foods, we wimped out and had the meals prepared "medium" which honestly had enough bite to satisfy us without reaching for the fire extinguisher. Service was very friendly and although we were there later in the evening we never felt rushed. If you go in season I recommend calling ahead for reservations.

Having lived in NY and London and eaten Indian food since the 70s.... my husband and I know special Indian food the second it hits our tongue. This is special Indian food. We travel to Brunswick, Hallowell and Portland to get good Indian food and these tastes here transcended all of them. Yeah, you don't get TONS of food, find a Golden Corrall if that's what you need. What you get is so fresh and different from the other places. The chicken tikka masala WAS different and it was absolutely delicious. For once the chicken actually tasted tender, smokey, quality chicken. And the fresh vegetable korma, fantastic. We enjoyed it there and and the next day at home. Requested mild - medium and it was a bit spicey (but perfect) so be careful if you order spicey. Thank you for a great experience, your food is amazing. And your waitress so sweet!

Please don't waste your money. Update: The owner called me over the phone after seeing my reviews on yelp. Unfortunately this level of defensiveness is just a reflection of their mistake. To give burnt naan, micro pakoras & arguing with a customer over requesting chutney instead of ketchup is not a problem I chose to have. This is just a heads up to anyone expecting more. Touristy prices are not an issue but customer service is an expectation.

This restaurant is takeout only. It appears they used to have seating and buffet, but is closed for some reason. No problem though, take out is fine! I'd say it's pretty pricey for Bangor area. They do give generous portions though. We ordered the following: 1. Samosa: Nicely done with chat masala sprinkled on it. The green chutney was good, but I'd prefer they didn't use food coloring or whatever they use to make it EXTRA green. Good flavors 4/5 2. Malai Chicken: "Butter chicken" - good chicken to gravy ratio. Chicken pieces are large which I prefer over the cubed chicken some other places do. Lacking a little flavor in my opinion. Could be because it was mild? 3.5/5 3. Navratan korma: Mixed vegetables with potatoes in a gravy. Flavor was great. 4/5 4. Garlic naan & butter naan: 2 pieces per order. Garlic was not overly flavored with garlic requiring mints after :-) We ordered over the phone. I will say they did not ask a spice level and it was just mild. Next time I will specify medium to see if this enhances their dishes. Took about 30 minutes for the order, not bad. I want to give this place another shot since we love Indian food, so I'll report back with hopefully adding an extra .

The bad thing about arriving after two is that there was a shift change, which meant that customers were seated but not served. We waited an hour for our appetizers. There were customers seated after us who got their entire meal and finished by the time we got served. Not the best way to treat customers. Fortunately, the food was great. The samosa appetizer was really good. I also had paneer korma which was out of this world. Flavor, flavor, flavor was the name of the game. I have not had any better, which was a very pleasant surprise. Florida has many Indian restaurants, and frankly, none of them come close. I can't wait to go through the menu!

Overall, I thought the spice levels were pretty tame (I could easily handle a 6 and I don't typically order over 4). We ordered many different dishes and shared them all. It was fabulous! They were very easily able to handle our group of 6, which was great. Our waitress was attentive and gave great suggestions and the meal was well paced, which we especially appreciated as we were seeing a show afterwards. Favorites included the saag paneer, chicken korma, and garlic naan. The mutter was also great! And the punugulu was the perfect appetizer for sharing. The masala (tea) was the only thing I wouldn't get again. It was fine, but not as rich and flavorful as other places I've had it.
