We've seen this place a lot but never went in. We live in the area and go to the mall, theatre, farmers market etc. We decided to give it a try. We went in for drinks and the ambiance was full of energy. Lots of groups watching football, drinking and eating. They have darts, billiards, modern jukebox. We sat at the bar and ordered some drinks. The bartenders were super friendly and quick. We didn't know there was a food menu and we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered a burger and a burrito. My friends and I went out late on a Monday. Boy am I glad the Royal Lounge is open on Mondays! We were celebrating my friends birthday and it was the best night ever! Lisa is amazing! She is so sweet and took really good care of us. The music is pay for credits, so once we got some good jams going that we liked the night was set! The drinks were great! And it was a great experience! We are definitely going back and I recommend this place as there's tons of space and tables and activities but overall it's really chill so a good place to go with friends! read more

Ok, this was a total surprise. My wife and I try and go on our dates. How I bumped into this place was just a simple search on Yelp. Well Yelp delivered. Well, it's a true dive bar and budget friendly. I went in because I had a pop up ad on my FB feed and saw they had a $28 steak and lobster happy hour daily special. The poor girl (only 1 lady was there) was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. It was Friday night and maybe 30-40 patrons were there so I was being patient/understanding on the time delay for service. I was happy to pay only $28 for the Steak and lobster. Lobster came out great. Steak on the other hand, mine was over cooked. My GF's was undercooked but I didn't want to make a stink about it being they were short staffed. I won't go back for the food but I definitely will go back to shoot pool and have beers. Staff were nice but the chef needs some help. We came on Christmas Day and sat at a table and was greeted quickly by Denise quickly and given a menu! She was kind and quick! We also ordered food which was amazing!!! The zucchini fries were delicious the wings were good the mozzarella sticks were amazing and so were the jalapeño poppers I would come here over and over again! As someone who lives in the city, I like to support local spots but Royal always has me 50/50. The staff is amazing, drinks are great. As a singer, if they have karaoke...I'm there. R&B is my style. I'm not a fan of the karaoke host they have. He's not friendly, has no songs and always has an attitude for some reason with me. Messed up 5 times on my song causing the bar to wonder if he's doing it on purpose. The 3.5 Star rating is pretty accurate, in my and my wife's opinion. We've been here a couple times now and enjoy the atmosphere and food. I consider this place more of a bar, than restaurant, although our latest visit included a much-expanded menu, so maybe they're working on that side of the house. There's a couple pool tables, several TVs (usually showing sports), and music/dancing. Friday night they had karaoke. It's a slightly more mature crowd than some of the other bars in West Covina. DRINIK: Full bar, however no beer on tap. Import beers, at least the two Mexican beers we had, were $4.50/bottle. FOOD: We ordered Shrimp Costa Azul (bacon wrapped shrimp), served with a side of rice, beans, and a simple salad with ranch dressing for $15.99. Both plates were consistently prepared, served hot, and everything was quite tasty. We've also had the Steak and Baked Potato special before and that was similarly good. Food prices are very reasonable. SERVICE: It was a busy Friday evening and they had three people at the bar, but only one young lady serving the floor. She hustled and was very pleasant, despite being a little overwhelmed. I think during a peak time like this, they could have used at least one more person waiting tables. The Royal Lounge is situated in the middle of a strip shopping center with a lot of businesses open during the evening, including the movie theaters across the street, so parking can sometimes be challenging. Don't Karaoke here! It's a busy bar featuring two pool tables, diverse crowd, well priced drinks, a kitchen and karaoke. If you're interested in karaoke night with friends- this is not the spot. There is a Karaoke Nazi in control. We were there three hours and didn't get to sing once. The guy in control only lets his people sing. I saw the same people sing song-after-song. Even the lady bartenders sing before new customers on the list. As far as the bar goes, it's a local dive-bar with cheap drinks and a diverse crowd with a kitchen- normal.
