Royal Pizza & Seafood - A Promising New Spot with Room to Grow I finally had the chance to try Royal Pizza & Seafood, the new establishment that recently took over the old Pizza Hut location. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The renovations are well done, and the place has a clean, updated feel with ample seating and a nice bar featuring flatscreen TVs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, the signage and advertising could use improvement -- you'd likely miss it unless you're local or, like me, drive by daily.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My daughter and I stopped in around 1:30 PM. I ordered a spinach and feta calzone, and she got a chicken Caesar wrap. We shared an order of steak fries, which were a bit over-crisped, but all the food came out hot and fresh from the grill and oven. The calzone was delicious, and the wrap, while tasty, could've been wrapped better -- it fell apart after a couple of bites, but the staff was so accommodating -- they actually took it back and re-wrapped it for her in fresh Saran wrap, which we really appreciated. Service was friendly but slow. With only two employees -- one appearing to be the owner and the other the cook -- our food took about 40 minutes, despite no other customers being there. A third staff member arrived about halfway through our wait. We also had to go up to the counter ourselves to pay for the order, which had already been taken. When the food came out, they had forgotten the Caesar dressing and ketchup, but quickly corrected it when we asked. We didn't have time to finish our meals, so we asked for takeout boxes. I used to love this place and was a loyal customer for a long time. The food has always been solid, and I genuinely wanted to keep supporting them. But unfortunately, the last few times I've ordered, my order has been wrong-- receiving a BBQ chicken pizza not a buffalo chicken pizza, getting a calzone instead of a pizza, things like that. I let it slide the first couple of times because I get that mistakes happen. This time, though, I finally decided to speak up and let them know--and honestly, I was pretty disappointed with the response. All they offered was $5 off my next order, which felt like a brush-off more than a resolution, especially given the repeated issues. I'm not looking for freebies, just for my order to be right and for the service to reflect that they value their regular customers. I really hope they tighten things up, because I'd love to go back to recommending them the way I used to. read more

I thought there was a reason why the interior of this place felt so familiar. Apparently, this used to be a Pizza Hut? Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but that's what one of the other reviews seemed to suggest. Yeah, I finally got the chance to check the interior of this place out since I was picking up a to-go order. And it....DOES feel reminiscent of a classic Pizza Hut. Still, we're better off with this place instead...though it's certainly not without its flaws (which we'll get to in a bit). First, I gotta mention RP's biggest asset - online ordering. Many places get this wrong. However, RP makes the whole thing so convenient, you can complete an order directly from their website. We've had both pickup and delivery here and both transactions went surprisingly smooth. Now the food....is hit or miss, depending on what you're looking for versus what you're expecting, if that makes sense. We tried the pizza and mozzy sticks first go-around. Right up front, the mozzy sticks are a bit strange and....dare I say, under seasoned. The latter of which I didn't even think was possible, but....that breading they use. It's different from what you'd expect a traditional mozzy stick to look and feel like. I think it's beer batter, come to think of it. Also these things are comically gigantic in circumference. 5 out of 10, PG's does it better. The Margarita pizza was fine, I guess. WAAAY too much basil though. 6 out of 10, not bad...but Nashua HoP is better (which isn't saying much). Later on...I decided to try the cheesesteak and tater skins since...oh yeah! I forgot to mention...if you place an online order, you have to spend at least $20 for the transaction to be accepted. And that is why I got potato skins instead of steak fries. I wish I had had the steak fries instead. Did you know some places make their skins with turkey bacon? Because this place is one of them. And as innocuous as this may seem to most, it's not really my bag. Not to mention the lack of seasoning and only one kind of cheese. Smaller than expected, too. 5 out of 10, I'd try almost anything once. The cheesesteak was a bit better. And despite some of the steak being kinda chewy, it was good enough for a lazy Thursday night. 7 out of 10, this was RP's highlight so far. For those wondering, I do have plans to revisit this place again. See, one other thing I meant to mention is the vastness of their menu. They really are a seafood and pizza place. Only I've yet to try any of their seafood. I wanted to gauge at least two of their pizza parlor basics before moving onto the more risky dishes. I shall do the aforementioned in a future visit. For now though, Royal Pizza in Hudson gets 3 ginormous mozzy sticks the size of pickles out of 5. read more

Royal Pizza opened recently in a former Pizza Hut on Route 102 in Hudson. The space was redone which is order at the counter and offers self serve seating in a bright dining area with TVs in the corners, booths, high top tables, and seating around a center bar area with a big TV. It's BYOB beer and wine. Another reviewer has a good point that their current (March 2023) logo looks identical to the logo of the "other pizza place" at 142 Lowell Rd. IMO, the logo looks like a stock image, but this place really should use a unique logo different than the other nearby pizza place. The crown logos at other Royal Pizza shops in Stoneham MA and Somerville MA are different than the "other pizza place" which are far enough away from Hudson. The food menu offers pizzas (10"-16"), pizza calzones, salads, baked & fried seafood dinners & rolls, lobster rolls, hot & cold subs, wraps, sandwiches, pasta dinners, chicken, steak tips, baklava, and cold drinks in the coolers. Gluten free pizza is available here. I stopped by Royal Pizza in Hudson and ordered a 16" Large Eggplant Pizza ($16.99 plus tax), which was baked in a belt oven and ready in under 20 minutes. The pizza was topped with a slightly salty red sauce, melted mozzarella cheese and slices of crispy light breaded eggplant on a thin soft and slightly chewy crust, slight thick soft chewy edges. I enjoyed three slices for dinner and saved the rest for my lunches. The pizza was pretty good here overall. I will definitely have to try out their other offerings including their fried seafood dinners and chicken parmesan dinners. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Comfortable atmosphere with a fireplace and a few booths.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ate on a Sunday afternoon and the pineapple pizza was delicious everything was fresh. You will notice the fresh ingredients and care for bringing everything out hot and together. I had a taste of everything my family ordered because we were so impressed on how good everything tasted. The whole clam and calamari platter disappeared before I could even snap a photo. I was pleased with the light batter and never had a chance to try the tartar sauce because the red sauce was perfect. My boys remembered the pizza we ate at the 911 memorial in NY that is how NY style this place is! Let me start off by saying that the owners of this restaurant both husband and wife as well as their two daughters are very kind, polite, caring and thoughtful. I've only gone here two times so far and both times I've had an incredible experience. It was nice to know that the owner remembered me from years back from another restaurant they used to own and operate in Milford NH. Both times I've gone in here I've ordered a small cheese pizza with extra cheese, extra feta and extra anchovies and both times the pizza was made to perfection and exactly the way I like it! I have yet to try other items on the menu but in time I'm sure I will. Ordered online, it said 30 mins, ended up taking about 50 minutes. We got cheese pizza, veggie pizza, chicken tenders and potato skins. Everything was pretty greasy, grease dripped down your hand eating the pizza. The tenders were great, little spicy but great. The skins were also great but very greasy. The pizzas were mediocre, if ordered well done I think they would be better. Will be back to try the roast beef as it seemed to be a popular item. Maybe get appetizers again but will pass on the rest. read more

Excellent veggie pizza and olive pizza. Thin crust. If you prefer crispy just ask them to cook a bit longer. Service is prompt and friendly. We also ate on another day and had seafood platters. Went for a quick dinner...nice people, clean restaurant, but unfortunately not the best food. I had lasagna, which was good, and nice portion, would have been nice to get an extra plate rather than eating out of an aluminum tin. I could have asked for one, so not a huge deal, just would have been nice. My husband ordered fried scallops that were over cooked and rubbery. Placed an order over the phone for pickup, asked for a chicken kabob salad and small chicken parm calzone. My husband picked up the food and it was priced at $38, even with meal tax there was an up charge somewhere. The salad was wrong, asked for feta on the side and it was globbed all over the salad, hardly any chicken and what was there was burnt. My husbands chicken parm calzone was 2 chunks of chicken tenders with some cheese, no sauce inside or sauce on the side, which without the sauce that isn't a parm. The kicker is when I shook up my salad and went to take a bite I pulled a RUBBER BAND out of my mouth. 10/10 wouldn't go back, I wanted to like this place because it's very close to my house. Pizza is thin crust and very good, (roni, black olive & ex cheese). The #2 cold cut sub was great, a nice soft roll and Ham,Turkey,Bacon & Cheese (provolone) was plentiful. I got a cheeseburger today which was obviously a frozen patty hockey puck. The cheese was not melted, the tomatoes were the end slices which were the rounded parts and fell right out of my burger. The hamburger bun was dry and crumbling. Fries were obviously Frozen also. My son got chicken fingers and fries which obviously were all Frozen. They were not busy I can't see why they couldn't have made a fresh Burger. I personally don't recommend it maybe they have good seafood but I will never try it. read more

First time at this place, ordered the seafood plate for 33 bucks? I don't mind paying the money but over 30 and I except a plate that 8-10 on the scale! The people working there were definitely nice enough but the plate was maybe a 6, clams were soggy and fish was over cook, shrimp was good but pieces and not whole scallops (3) were not good. Not sure if I can give it another shot when you got Temple St. Diner plate is great, sometimes lol. P.s. This place just opened and even after a month or so they shutdown for a long vaca. It took me 3 months just to try it and they should be giving you so much food your choking on it for 6 months just to get the name out there! read more

There are a dozen pizza restaurants in our area, many of them good. This was our first try at Royal. We ordered two fish platters, a large pizza and a chicken finger dinner. Everyone liked their food. I've had better seafood, but both those restaurants are at the beach. In this case their seafood was better than the two seafood-only restaurants we go to in this area. Royal has the most extensive menu of any restaurant in this area. A couple of the restaurants in the area I've given a "4" to but Royal, with their big menu and quality of food gets a "5" from us. read more
