The staff wanted my wife to sit at an angle to the table; so that they could pass through. The seafood itself was solid traditional Cantonese fare with fresh lobster tanks, steamed fish, and classic banquet-style dishes. The atmosphere felt colorful authentic Hong Kong banquet hall energy. However, some of their pricing was completely out of whack. Mother's Day premium for sure which is understandable, but some dishes were simply excessively expensive for what was delivered. For example, our two lobsters, while fresh, were missing that smoky "wok hei" flavor that great Cantonese kitchens are known for. It lacked the depth, aroma, and richness one expects from a proper high-heat wok preparation. A few items felt priced more for Guide Michelin luxury dining than a Flushing seafood hall. This said, the service was efficient and professional; changing plates all the time. So a high level of attention above the usual Cantonese restaurant. Overall, decent food in and an authentic Hong Kong style restaurant that targets special family gatherings, but be prepared, both the crowds and the bill can become overwhelming very quickly. I paid more than $400 for three people. But we had a Tiger Fish which is $50 per pound.

I have so many reasons to believe that Emperor is truly the reincarnation of the restaurant...just a little rusty. I've only come here for dim sum and I'm still surprised it doesn't get even half of the insane volume that nearby dim sum restaurants get, especially with how much closer they are to Roosevelt Ave. I have to say that the dim sum here is slightly better than most locations in the core downtown area, both in presentation and taste. No cart ladies, just a paper and pencil ordering system. The other diners that I usually encounter seem to strike me as locals, which is becoming harder to find these days. Prices are slightly more expensive than the other places, which is probably a factor as to why there aren't as many customers. The other reason is probably the subpar customer service here, which I've encountered on a number of recent visits. There are so many workers here, but none of them seem to have any good grasp of what customer service is. For example, I've had the waiter hover over me as I was gathering cash for my bill and snatched it the moment I placed the money down, also demanding at least 18% (again, for subpar service). Also, if you complain to them about your food, even if you find a hair, they will not do anything about it. The food quality is slightly above most of the dim sum places, but also bear in mind the hit-or-miss service you'll get, which the latter can be super frustrating.

It's one of the most popular stalls at the New World mall. Seating is so-so, really depends on the time you go but sometimes seating will be hard to find. You'd have to make friends with an elderly asian grandma or pa at a table. They're located near the restrooms so there will be a lot of foot traffic there. Overall, good food at a good price! The soup dumplings are definitely the highlight on the menu. We ordered the assortment of 6 different soup dumpling flavors. My favorites were the pork + crab and the pork + truffle. We also ordered the pork + veggie wontons with spicy peanut sauce, and the chicken stir-fried udon. The soup dumplings are super fresh and packaged with flavor. The wontons are also solid if you want something a little richer. I've had better dumplings in the city, but still a very solid option. The passion fruit ice tea is fantastic and not too sweet. We were very impressed by how efficient the check in process was. The was a large line when we arrived, but it moved quickly and we were able to get seating within 20 minutes. The service was also good and the crew that helped us was very nice. We would definitely come back if we're ever back in the area!

It's about a 12-15 minute walk from the 7 train Flushing subway station, past Northern Blvd. At a building named Linden Place (that's what the sign high above the entry shows), the dramatic entrance is up a wide set of steps, framed by a large molded name plate above and faux column panels at the sides. Inside, Crown One's facilities combine banquet hall and restaurant in the same way many of these large Southern Chinese establishments do. The foyer is fancifully decorated with plenty of gold-toned gilding, traditional blue on white ceramics and grand chandeliers, evoking somewhat of a nicer Asian hotel feel. The dining space features mostly white and neutral colors, two-story-high ceilings, a massive elaborate light fixture in the shape of a flower with petals as seen from below, and draped ribbons of fabric strung mid-air across the length of the room for an artistic effect. Getting to the food--pretty solid. Ordered shrimp wrapped in rice noodles), fried turnip cake, crystal shrimp dumplings, steak pepper shortribs, pork spareribs with rice noodles, shiumai dumplings, braised beef tripe with turnip. Waitstaff seated us, asked us for tea preference, the dimsum cart ladies came by and you need to flag them down as they walk around. At the end we flagged a staff member for the bill and paid at the front register, pretty typical dimsum restaurant service. The main dining hall is surrounded by bright lights, a large LCD TV, and number of tables that are perfect for groups. This is a pushcart service, which is good news for those who want the nostalgia of choosing things directly from the cart. Not all the service workers are Canto-speaking, as I heard dialects from Wenzhou, Toisan (#1), and likely Fukinese. During the late afternoon, it's important to flag them down because it may take awhile for them to make the full round. From chiu chow dumplings (潮州粉粿) to shrimp dumplings (蝦餃), the selection is standard and well portioned. The steamed variety is preferred here, with some immediate hits in the form of spare ribs (排骨), shrimp rice roll (蝦腸粉), and glutinous rice wrap (糯米雞). The coconut jelly (椰子糕) was especially wonderful and the BBQ pork buns (叉燒包) were nicely steamed with solid chunks of pork inside. Overall, I think the food was consistent, tasty, and well presented. Prices are solid for Flushing and won't break the bank. The gaudy decor extends beyond the main dining hall and all the way into the bathrooms. Their staircase is a perfect photo op for folks and the manager / wait staff are hardly camera shy. My one gripe, and it applies to the whole surrounding area and not just Maxi's: there are basically no bathrooms to be found. Plan accordingly before you commit to a big bowl of soup. Cheap, tasty, authentic. Everything a Flushing noodle spot should be.

This review is solely based on the waitress we encountered today. She is by far the nastiest and rudest waitress in our dining experience. She first got our order wrong, didn't bother apologizing, BUT INSTEAD LITERALLY SCREAMED AT US for the mistaken order. When we were paying for our bill at the cashier, we realized the bill was unusually high and wondered if we were actually overcharged. Apparently two of us only had 6 dim sum dishes altogether, but we were charged for 7. We asked the same waitress why we were overcharged and she rolled her eyes on me like we didn't have the money to pay for the bill or something? We went through 10 mins of useless explaining and I thought whatever, let's just pay the bill and get the hell out of here. So we paid the bill, left the waitress a tip, and THAT'S when she demanded in the most ugly tone that we'd have to pay mandatory 15% for her service. Like is this woman insane? Treated us like dirt, overcharged us and now demanding for more tip?! I've had enough with this insane woman so I asked for her name tag which was MAY HONG and told her never will I return back here, to which she replied "I don't give a crap". WOW I do not understand how this woman landed a job with an attitude like that. I complained about her to the manager on the way out and that's how she ruined our dining experience here. I would love to give this place a higher rating because the food wasn't bad at all, but definitely isn't worth it with the horrible service. read more

I regret that I didn't check other reviews before visiting, as my experience at Royal Queen was truly disappointing due to the service. This review reflects only the atmosphere and service, not the food, as I left before even ordering. I arrived early on a Saturday morning, intending to do some work while waiting for their opening. When I politely asked a waitress, who seemed to be the lead, for the Wi-Fi password, she responded dismissively and walked away without eye contact. After asking again, she eventually told me to get a business card for the password. Her attitude was unnecessarily cold, even though I hadn't asked for anything unreasonable. The situation worsened when I asked another waitress for directions to the restroom. She ignored me initially and, after I asked again, she started questioning my "attitude" before walking off and--shockingly--started swearing at my family. This waitress, whose name I vaguely remember as "Mary Ln," made it clear that respect for customers wasn't a priority. I understand I arrived slightly before their opening time, but a professional response and friendly demeanor are basic expectations, even during busy times. Other reviews have mentioned pushy attitudes and rushed service for tips, which I thankfully didn't experience. However, based on the hostile atmosphere alone, I would not recommend dining here, regardless of the food quality. read more

I always came here for dim sum with my grandparents (and maybe even a wedding once), and it was the perfect choice for sharing plates. Royal Queen Restaurant has been a cherished part of my family's dining tradition for many years. From coming here with my parents years ago to now bringing my own baby niece, this place continues to be our top choice for authentic Chinese dim sum in NYC. The quality is consistently excellent--everything from the har gow to the siu mai is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made. The menu offers a wide variety of dim sum and full entrees, so there's always something for everyone. While the dim sum may be slightly more expensive than some of the nearby spots, the difference is well worth it. The atmosphere here is far more spacious and elegant, making it a much more comfortable setting for family gatherings compared to the tighter, noisier places in the area. It never feels rushed or overcrowded, which makes the overall experience more enjoyable. Another major plus is the two-hour free parking when you spend $100 or more--a lifesaver when you're dining with a group like my family of five. Yesterday was my friend Jay's birthday, so we (4 people) decided to find a fancy restaurant to celebrate. The decoration is luxurious. Based on the first impression, we are prepared to spend a lot tonight lol (proved wrong later) We ordered Boiled chicken (around $10), twin Lobsters ($34), Crispy pork rib ($14) and some other veggies&dim sum I cant remember the names. Our server was nice and polite. Some reviews said their service was bad, but we enjoyed our time. Guess they have improved a lot. When we were eating, the manager Simon (hope this is the correct name) stopped by and ask us how was our dinner. When we told him about Jay's birthday, he then asked a server to bring us a free birthday ice cake. It was just a small cake, but we really appreciated it. We spent about $90 (tips included) last night. The overall experience was great. Their rating on yelp seems a little bit scary, but from my personal experience, it deserves a much higher rating. They may lack of service before, but it is obviously that they have improved now. Don't be scared by their previous rating. Royal Queen is the largest Cantonese restaurants in Flushing New York city. The place is luxuriously decorated with comfortable seating. The hall can accommodate 1,400 customers. Terrible dim sum, even worse service. 9/10 of our dishes were cold even though they came from the carts. When we tried to ask for nicer looking dishes, the dim sum ladies scolded us for being picky. Well, if you're not picky, you get COLD food here. read more

Decided to give Grand Jade a shot when I saw they had a takeout counter. There is a dim sum section, a roasted meats section, and hot entree section. Well organized setup that was very efficient. No waiting for an order. No arriving late to cold food. Excellent takeout experience. We had a bunch of dim sum including a variety of dumplings, buns, and sautéed ribs. On par with all the other dim sum halls that we've been to (e.g. Asian Jewels, Park Asia, East Harbor). We also order several entrees. We had the eggplant, string beans, fried shrimp, squid. Veggies served in a dark, sweet Cantonese style sauce. Shrimp came out fresh with head on. Super juicy and crispy. Shrimp were probably my favorite item. The milk buns and ube sesame balls for dessert were a hit. Meal for four came out to under $100. Grand Jade will likely be our go to for takeout dim sum.

There's almost always something that goes wrong when I order takeout. Last time, they gave my roasted duck and pork order to someone else. Today, I ordered noodles and soy sauce chicken. Apparently, the noodles were ready and had been sitting there, but no one bothered to pack them together with the chicken, so I waited there the whole time. I also overheard another customer complaining about the service and asking for the owner. The front desk lady simply told her to "look it up online." SMH. I really hope the takeout crew gets some proper training and better organization. The food is great, but the takeout experience at this location could definitely be improved.

All non noodles dishes comes with rice. The wenzhou fried noodles is interesting as it comes with their version of braised/dried "lap yuk".
