This no-frills, family-run spot serves up solid, affordable Thai food right off Pacific Ave. We have always been greeted with a smile. Don't let the stark, empty restaurant fool you. I have been supporting this place ever since we used to live in the area, and recently we returned for dinner. The prices are still super affordable, and the portion sizes are good for what you pay. I got the shrimp pad kee mao and my husband got the beef pad Thai. $14 for a shrimp dish in this economy? And $12 for other proteins? An absolute steal. I chose medium spicy for both, since I knew their medium spicy isn't very spicy. Both dishes didn't take very long to arrive. The flavors were just as solid as I remembered. My husband loved his pad Thai too, especially since he loves tamarind, and Royal Siam serves their pad Thai with stronger notes of tamarind. Do note that they also use thin noodles here for their pad Thai. My noodles were perfectly bouncy and soaked up all the delicious sauce without being soggy. My pad kee mao came with 6 pieces of juicy, deveined shrimp with the tail still on. Our waters were constantly refilled, and even though it was a quiet evening with only another couple dining in (it was also pretty late), our server was very thankful for us coming in. I'm glad that even after all these years, Royal Siam continues to serve delicious Thai food in Stockton. My friend and I came in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were the first customers in and it was quiet. The server greeted us right away and asked us what we would like to drink and allowed us additional time to look over the menu. I got the Pad Thai and my friend got the chicken noodle soup. We also got chicken satay for an appetizer. The spice levels are actually spicy for medium or mild. So be aware if you don't like spicy foods, I suggest to get it with no spice. Fairly slept on location, the food is phenomenal and a perfect spot to have a quiet date night. The staff is very friendly and always provide excellent customer service. Met with coworkers there last week. At first glance, I was hesitant to go in cause it didn't seem like there was anyone there and the place was closed. Pulled on the door and it opened, waited at the front for a few minutes, and noticed a couple of people behind the bar talking amongst themselves. Decided to sit myself and waited a few more minutes, and noticed the guy in front of the bar walk up to me and say "want water," which I replied to, sure, but I'm also waiting on a few more people, and he left. Place was pretty empty when we went. Only two other parties the whole time we were there. I ordered the pad thai with chicken, and my group also ordered yellow curry, and panang curry from the lunch menu. All the food came out in 20 minutes which was pretty good. The lunch menu is cheaper so probably smaller portions, but they were filling. The currys come with a good amount of rice and a bowl of curry. The panang curry was pretty good, alot of green beans, not that much meat but flavor was pretty good. The yellow curry was much sweeter than i expected or thought but not bad. The pad thai was a good amount tbh, and the flavor was good, not overly sweet like a lot of other places. Overall pretty good but not best. Amazing food. Felt bad for our server as he was flying solo in the entire dining room. I would normally dock the restaurant but honestly he was doing a great job considering he was working alone. We love Thai, and out of the ones I've tried in Stockton, this is our favorite. Small batch cooking, the flavors are delicious with every bite. Last night we had Basil Fried Rice with Beef, BBQ pork, Chicken Satay, Pad See Ew, Panang Curry with chicken add Pumpkin, and Papaya Salad (no dried shrimps). We all loved all the food. Our server mentioned they were out of broccoli so the dishes that would normally have it had substitutions thrown in. Still tasted good.. but we laughed cause our Pad See Ew had so many carrots we called if Carrot Pad See Ew. The BBQ Pork flavor was so yummy.. and my most favorite dish was the Panang Curry Chicken. Worst experience today! My daughter isn't feeling happy today, so I decided to take her to this Thai restaurant for a lunch with her. Super rude waiter! Name is "pan" I believe? Perhaps the best Thai restaurant in the Valley. A real hidden gem for a food desert like Stockton. It's simply good authentic Thai food at a good price. The balance of savory, sweetness and sourness in their entrees are perhaps some of the best Thai cooking I've had. I've eaten here several times in 2024 and it's consistently good. Even the quality of the ingredients is good for the price. The crab fried rice is the BEST crab fried rice I've ever had at any Thai restaurant. Seriously! And simple things like the appetizer pork belly is simple yet delicious because it's done right. The only complaint I do have is the sautéed beef within their entree dishes-it's not as tender or chard as I'd like it to be(hence the 4 star rating). The chicken tends to do better in their entree dishes. Therefore, I truly hope they improve on the quality of their beef! Compared to other Thai places in Stockton, Tracy and the Valley-this has to be the best in terms on taste, quality, consistency and price. Props to the elder Thai lady cooking the food. The pad thai we ordered came with tofu instead of chicken, and the noodles were literally just spaghetti, not the usual noodles. This changed the flavor in a bad way. The pad kee mao was the worst I've had. The wide noodles were so overcooked they were mush. They were so mushy they were all clumped together. Hole in the wall restaurant that doesn't require reservations. There were only five tables and one waitress but she was pretty fast, efficient and friendly. The fried calamari with the tod mun sauce is really good. The tod mun was a bit thin for my liking. The spicy eggplant with purple rice was very good. There's like an entire eggplant in the dish! The drunken noodle flavor wise was really good. Spice (we got spice +1) was actually spicy and very flavorful. I wish their rice noodles were fresh. They appear to be frozen before as when they are sauteeed it broke into many little bits and were not thick ribbons. I would come back but probably not for noodles. A random find after our usual Thai spot suddenly raised their prices of almost $5 in a span of a week. So we decided to try other options and came across this neat place. Service was great and food was really authentic even my husband says so! The only little mishap we had was we didn't realize until after we got home that we were charged the regular price of the Panang Chicken curry rather then the lunch discount since we got there about 1pm. While having a pleasant convo with the server she said the owners "weren't interested in stuff like that".
