Horrible location in a shopping strip that is difficult to get in and out of. Typical cheap Asian owners don't want to pay for a good location. I walked in and the place smelled like sewage. Once again another boba tea location has opened in Arlington, and it is another addition from the same owners of Ninja Sushi and Ramen. The interior is bright, clean, and cozy (leather couches for lounging as well!). The menu is fairly limited in terms of drinks, but they have shaved ice and soon to come ice cream served in bubble waffles! I ordered a Jasmine Green Tea Sea Salt and was satisfied with how it wasn't too much of any one flavor (as someone who enjoys unsweetened tea, this was right up my alley). I can't say much about it now, so I hope to try more of their selection in my upcoming visits. Royal Tea has only recently opened, so there might be a few road bumps, but plenty of room for improvement. Being right next to their Ninja Ramen location makes it a close spot for dessert. I've been here often and today was a complete disappointment. Valerie was the cashier and when I asked her why my drink was taking so long she said it was coming. No apologies while you can see clearly the staff was just standing around. I waited 35 minutes today for my drink before I came and asked Valarie. I asked her why other numbers (10 ahead of me) was given their food and drinks. People behind us was getting upset and wondering if they were even working their drinks. Anyways, 5 mins later I got my drinks and they were all wrong. I will not come back to a business that does not value a customer. There's way too many boba places to even waste your time here. I always come here cause it's the GF's favorite spot to get her Oolong Tea. The place is clean and quick. We like to grab a deck of cards and play 13 while we wait for our drinks. I see a lot of college kids up here sitting in the corner studying or so while sipping on their drink. The environment is just very chill... I did notice that I've never seen anyone order food here. Came here after eating at Ninja Ramen. They did not remove the 25% off our order even though they said they would. We ordered after our friends who did receive their discount. They also received their drinks quickly but we waited 15 minutes for ours. We figured they were busy but then they called another order number that was 6 numbers ahead of us. This tea shop does not only have one of the worst-taste milk tea (supersweet but bland; no tea flavor; milk tastes weird) but also is a big scam with it comes to rewards as a way to attract people into the store. I was given free boba tea twice on their Fivestars Reward system but both time they wouldn't let me redeem and said I have no rewards and not enough points. I though the first time was a technical error but it's repeated recently. Seriously, you should be honest with what you advertise. Five stars are for Hong Kong waffle . The waffle is the best - light airy crispy with perfect touch of sweetness . I could just eat the waffle by itself easily . Anyway , we ordered Green Tea Egglette . The combination of whipped cream , silvered almond & green tea ice cream is good . However the Mochi was not needed . We will definitely come back . Came in tonight to fill my late night cravings, decided to try the Oreo milk tea and green Thai tea. Try using my buy 1 get 1 50% off for the drinks, but the cashier told me I couldn't used it. The cashier vy didn't mention it before I paid so I couldn't change my order to 1 drink instead. Overall place was really dead the drinks were okay, Oreo milk tea tastes like cereal milk with crumbs on the bottom didn't really gave the Oreo taste. The green Thai is usually inconsistent, sometime tastes too sweet and sometime bitter. Only drink 1/4 of it before I threw it away because it was giving me a stomach ache, I'm willing to come back again to give it another try though. I got the strawberry and banana snow ice and the matcha green tea eggette. The portions were larger than I expected. Presentation and taste were excellent! The snow ice was one of the best I've ever had and the "waffle" part of the eggette was so delicious. The cashier, who I believe was named Brandon, was very kind and helpful. Even the set-up of the place was great. It's conjoined with the restaurant next door, Ninja Ramen. However you have to walk through Ninja Ramen to get to the restrooms, which is a little awkward. It's a little on the smaller side and can fill up pretty fast but there's plenty of seating. Luckily we went closer to closing time. The only reason this place even deserves one star is because of the cashier guy who was very kind and seemed genuinely concerned about the customers. Other than that, this place is awful. First red flag: they charge extra to take things to-go (what??? That makes zero sense. This aspect alone is going to lose you customers, very poor business strategy). Second, I asked before ordering the snow ice if there was condensed milk mixed throughout the ice or if it was just a topping. The lady said it was mixed throughout. I receive the ice and it's literally just a bowl of ice with some condensed milk drizzle. Third, the fruit is of the worst quality. I ordered the mango snow ice and received chalky yellow blocks of unripened mango. Never before have I tasted mango that was so chalky and so hard. Boba teas are pretty good. I guess average. Knocking off a star because the most recent visit I went (maybe 15-20 minutes prior to closing) they had the waffle maker shut off and no ice cream so I left. It makes more sense to shut off everything once you close especially since you offer waffle sundae ice cream on your menu. read more

This is one of my favorite boba tea places in Arlington, I have never had a bad drink here. I usually get the Oreo milk tea, Oreos are my favorite. Even though it's Oreo flavor you can definitely still taste the tea. Recently I have switched to the Oreo smoothie and WOW hands down the best Oreo drink I have ever had. Another thing I like is this place always has some kind of special going so keep an eye out on social media. Royal Tea is one of those aesthetically pleasing boba shops but their drinks aren't worth their prices in my opinion. The "honey boba" does not have any flavor and their sizes are so not worth the price. You can choose between a "regular" which is the size of a tall at Starbucks for around $3.50 or a "large" which is the size of a venti for around $4.50 depending on what drink you get and how many toppings you want. Sharetea gives cups larger than the large at Royal Tea and prices are cheaper too. Now let's talk about the actual drinks.. They have so many options to choose from that it's overwhelming. I have tried more than half of the menu and the only things I really liked were the Thai drinks and the smoothies. Everything else did not taste good to me and it looks like they focus on the presentation of the drink more than the quality. In some of the fruit drinks they add fruit toppings in them like slices of orange or lemon and a mint on top but I find that unnecessary. They fill the cups about 80% with ice which means you get less of the drink but you can change the ice and sugar level. The smoothies here are actually really good, but I guess the boss here tells employees to lie about what's in it. I remember asking the cashier if the taro smoothie was made with real taro and he said yes, but I saw the person making it pour what looks like taro powder into the blender. For smoothies and desserts like the snow ice and the eggette there is a person inside that makes them. The snow ice to me is like bingsu (Korean shaved ice) but the ice is actually made of milk. It's pretty good and the mango one is my favorite but it takes so long to come out and I'm guessing it's because of the attention to detail. They have to put shaved ice then a layer of condensed milk and then ice and they keep doing that until it gets enough and THEN they add whatever toppings you got and a scoop of ice cream. I prefer the ones at the little froyo place next to Thanh Thanh. They give large portions and you get to choose more toppings and it's less than the price of a regular at Royal Tea. The eggette is like a round waffle but a little sweeter. It's kind of dry but I guess it compliments your drink. You can get just the waffle or a waffle sundae that has ice cream, whip cream, and toppings on it. This also takes a long time to come out so if you're in a rush I don't recommend getting this. They also have food which is something I actually like about the store. They're connected to Ninja Ramen and I believe it's the same owner so the cooks who prepare the food at Ninja Ramen also make the food that Royal Tea offers. My favorite is probably the royal shrimp rolls or the calamari on a stick. The salt and pepper chicken is really good as well. Now let's talk about the service. When you walk in you are greeted by employees with "Hello welcome to Royal Tea!" even if they are busy which is something I appreciate. Every time I went there was this nice female cashier that would be very friendly and welcoming and patient when I took a long time to order. But last week when I went there was a tall white male which surprised me because I have never seen a non Asian person work at a boba store before (not meant to be racist, just based on observations). He was in the middle of counting money when I walked up to the register and he said he will be with me in a second while he finishes counting the coins. At first I wasn't bothered since it gave me extra time to look at the menu but then he proceeded to put sticker labels on cups. By then I was a little irritated but he finally took my order. I said something along the lines of "can I get a strawberry and banana smoothie with boba and whip cream" and he said "no you can't" so I was confused because they have it on the menu then he said "just kidding". Don't get me wrong I have a good sense of humor but that was really awkward. He rang up my order and it wasn't til I got my smoothie that I realized he put in a strawberry smoothie instead AND didn't put that I wanted boba and whip cream so all I got was a strawberry smoothie. There was nobody in line so I went back up the the register and told him I wanted boba and whip cream in a strawberry and banana smoothie but he was too busy making other drinks. By this time I was annoyed of this service! The customer should always come first. I explained the problem to him and he rolled his eyes and gave a huge sigh so I could tell he was having an attitude as he fixed my order. Unacceptable! I also got a Thai tea which he made and he dropped the cup but still used that cup to make my drink...I really don't like this guy lol Royal Tea is one of many boba tea shops in the Arlington/Grand Prairie area but in my opinion the drinks are okay, the food is good, prices are okay, and as of recently the service sucks!
