I'll begin by saying that my experience was not affected by the covid. We put the Golden Sacks in our mouths, and tried not to bite, but couldn't resist. The taste and texture were both pretty unique. I would have the sack again, and that's not something I really thought I would ever say. I then was served a delight Mongolian beef dish. How the restaurant was able to determine the cow's national heritage, I have no idea. But I will say it did taste like that of the eastern Asian province. You could tell by the way it was. Part of me was expecting to hear the song "Royal" by Lorde to be playing on repeat. Would the song have fit the environment? No. Would it have made feel more like I was born into royalty? Yeah, because Thai food is classier than an older Englishman smoking a meerschaum pipe while reading the newspaper in a lodge featuring a well stoked fire. I just didn't feel that royal, but that was less about the food and more about my own issues. Would I go back? Yeah, I would. Their waiting area is small and I didn't think they have any benches right out front. Service is fast, food is great. We ordered the Panang Curry(11.99) and Pad Thai with Beef (10.50) both of which is very good. The curry is creamy, sweet and very exotic to the taste, I can't stop eating it while the Pad Thai, compared to other Pad Thai's around have a much better quality ingredients (talking about the meat quality). Royal Thai is a gem in Dallas! I can definitely say I enjoy every experience I have each time I go to this restaurant. Royal Thai is located is tucked away in a shopping center but once you enter in the restaurant, you feel like the mood has been romantically set as if you were in Thailand. The hostess and waitress wear a tradition outfit from Thailand. The staff is quite friendly and welcoming from the moment you step into the restaurant to the moment you leave. The food is quite scrumptious! The food comes out rather quickly. Every time I might wait 10-15 minutes after I order my food. I have tried quite a few things off the menu but my favorite has to be the spicy noodles! Its is a flat noodle dish dressed up with veggies and your choice of meat. I normally add chicken. Their food is rich with flavor! The best thing is that they deliver if you don't live to far away, but you could always use postmates, grub hub or favor if they don't deliver to your restaurant! We stopped into this place over Christmas break because I had a craving for Chinese food (I know it's not Chinese). My partner used to go here a ton with his coworkers pre-covid and loves to get the curry because it can be ordered proper spicy. We entered and were seated immediately. Someone took our drink order as soon as we sat down and another server took our food order shortly after. The beauty of this place is that he can order a curry and I can order a stir fry, we share egg rolls (classic) or rangoons (flavored with a masala-style spice) and we both enjoy the heck out of it. I ordered the Cashew Vegetable Stir Fry with Chicken & then added Snow Peas, choosing level 3 spicy which was perfectly spicy for this girl. It was delish. Still worried about the service? They have installed a robotic food cart that delivers your food to your table! It is the coolest. Haters gonna hate, but you won't miss out cause you're better than that. They also serve an offering of alcoholic beverages, including wine & sake, and a thai iced tea that looked fab. It was lunchtime for us so I ordered water and my partner had unsweetened iced tea which turned out to be brewed and delicious. TAG's tips (for the anxious): A review before mine said that this place is elegant and intimate and I wholeheartedly agree. The style and decor of this place takes me back to a restaurant where my extended family used to have the most remarkable and memorable Christmas parties. That restaurant was in Western Michigan and it is closed now, but to me this place feels like the best kind of homecoming. Every appetizer menu option is delicious and made with quality including the dinner options. The restaurant had a few tables when I arrived, but not terribly busy. I knew what I wanted gave my order very quickly arrived my barely warm calamari appetizer with a tiny bit of sauce. I was so hungry I just gobbled it all down. so then 20 minutes goes by and I realize where is my salad. so I spent spend the next five or so minutes trying to get somebody's attention and my server came to the table very quickly dumped some ice tea looked at my ticket and ran off. when I saw her again, I tried to get her attention. She heard me. She turned slightly towards me, and then kept moving forward, completely ignoring me. getting ignored was the last straw. I called another gentleman over. I told him I have been ignored which, of course that he denied that after he took off I called you are a third person who has been working the front door. I told him just to charge me for the calamari and the iced tea and I settled up and left. The first gentleman followed me into the parking lot, offering me that he had put the salad in a container and if id like to take it with me? I refused, as I was just tired of being told that somehow I wasn't being ignored, or basically, in so many words, told I was lying about being ignored. The waitress is stigma & discrimination an Asian customer. Today, we came around 6:30pm to get the dinner. It not busy and just has 3 tables including us. We order the hot pot, one side and Siam Favorite seafood. The waitress brings the hot pot with the soup so cool (the soup should be hot) and forgets the flame pot (to keep the soup warm). I call the waitress, she came to my table, take a look and walk away. After 10 min waiting for nothing, I try to call her again but she ignore by walking around another table. I have to walk to the bar and ask a waiter to get some flame pot. He is very nice. He came to my table and bring the hot pot to the kitchen to put some flame pot. The hot pot can't get enough heat to heat up the pot because the soup is cool. I try to ask again but no one available and the waitress is ignore me all the time when I try to get her attention. After 1 hour waiting and I can't have dinner, we so upset. I ask for the bill and togo box for all the food. The waitress came take a look and walk away even I try to smile and please her. I walk to the bar and ask the waiter to help for the bill and togo box. He brings the bill and some togo boxes for us. The restaurant become busy and no body come to pick up the card so I walk to the cashier table to paid for the dinner. Finally, the waitress come to me and gets my credit card. I love this restaurant and I come here most of time when I want Thai food. I understand sometime the restaurant run out of the helper so the service can be slow. Ordered on a weekend, for pick up. I didn't notice until finishing placing the order that there is a Closed hours break in the day. So I'm placing order with about 40 minutes to spare, of the pre-closing operating hours- then the order goes in, and Confirmation email put the pickup time after the closing hours break. Oh no! That won't work as I was picking up a 4 person meal, and nobody wants to be disappointed and hungry! Called the restaurant, told them the issue- and the staff cheerfully day, "no problem, you can come pick it up now before our closing break- we will have it ready!" Good food, and as always great service. During pickup, I had too many packages to take one trip. Wonderful staff member offers to grab the extra bag and follow me out to my car. What has happened to my Royal Thai on Greenville? I have never seen a restaurant go down hill so fast. My wife remembers this place for "how it once was" so we continue to give it additional opportunities in hopes of improvement. Foolish, I know. Two weeks ago the Pad Thai had so much salt/MSG on it that you couldn't recognize any other flavors. The few bites of chicken were tough and stringy. The service was below average considering it was lunch time. Unfortunately, we gave it another shot today 9/29/2003. We arrived shortly after 2:00 pm and were "greeted" by an extremely rude employee who just pointed at the door and said we closed at 2:30!? To say the ambiance was terrible would be an understatement. It saddens me to write a harsh review of a restaurant that was once decent, but do yourself a favor and avoid the place. read more

I'm pregnant (first trimester) and I have a hard time eating things. Constant nausea. I come here and I can feel the transformation in my body. I go from feeling extremely weak and sick to feeling refreshed, clean and energized. You would think I was talking about a spa but it's simply just good food. This place has been a life saver. Excellent! Clean, minimally processed and not overly seasoned or sauced with fresh flavors. One star deducted for the chicken Pad Thai that was a little sweet and lacked seasoning complexity. Basil seafood dish with vegetables made up for this but only one scallop...but that one was fresh and plump. This was a wonderfully vibrant dish with peppers and veggies cooked just right. Ordered takeout massaman curry for the first time here since I was craving some. I ordered through Grubhub and asked for a spice level of 3. I came right on time and my order was ready for me. The massaman curry was delicious filled with lots of chicken, potatoes, onion, and peanuts and portion size was decent and it came accompanied with a little takeout box of jasmine rice. Spice level of 3 was actually pretty spicy for me. I only knocked them down a star since I requested utensils and didn't get any. Food: Just your regular Thai food. Nothing bad. Nothing great. Ambiance: Decent place that is nicely setup. No waiting area. Waitstaff: Friendly, except one waiter. There is one waiter and he pretends to be busier than he actually is. He has no time to listen to your order. No time to find out your preference for spice level and won't get you a Thai tea with milk on the side (while rest of the staff does). He talks with this sense of rudeness and makes you feel like you have to order in the next 5 seconds or he can't take care of you. Worst of all, he got my order wrong both the times he waited our table. I have been here a few times for lunch and while they have decent food, just hope that you will be served by one of their friendly waitstaff. Very impressed with the decor when we walked in for a quick dinner this weekend. Nice ceilings, lovely umbrella-like lamps and nice decor. Sets the Thai setting perfectly. Service was kinda slow. Took them awhile to take our order and it took a bit to get our appetizers and entrees - roughly 15-25 mins per course. We felt like we were waiting longer than normal. We ordered the Tom yum soup with shrimp. Good flavors - packed with shrimp, Mushrooms, ginger. The tulip dumplings were also good with nice flavors and a good dipping sauce. I loved the fried garlic on top. For our main dish, I had ordered the phad see eww with beef but they ended up bringing out the spicy noodles with ground beef - not what I expected to get and when I asked the server, telling her I got the phad see eww, she told me that this was it and they call it spicy noodles here. Well.. not from the pictures on Yelp they're not the same but whatever.. can't argue with someone who doesn't want to help you. That and I don't want my food to be spit in if I insist on sending it back. The dish I got was ok - ground beef with rice noodles and veggies. Lighter in flavor but the noodles were cooked well - though it was sparse in noodles and high in ground beef! My bf said it tasted like hamburger helper. Lol! I just didn't think it amazed me in terms of flavor. He ordered the tangerine chicken and it was different. It looked like fried chicken strips with a very loose tangerine sauce. Seemed like it should be a bit thicker - flavors were off like there was too much sugar and it should've been caramelized onto the chicken pieces. It was basically a bed of sauce with fried chicken strips on top tossed with broccoli. Overall it wasn't horrible but it didn't stand out as anything spectacular.
