I had a busted valve and there was a screw in the tire. Worrying that I might be stuck with a huge bill, the friendly staff explained that it would only cost $28 total to patch the flat and install a new valve. Wow. Not only was service outstanding, but the price was low and everything about my experience here went above and beyond expectation. I explained that I was on a road trip to Canada and needed the problem fixed and they gave me a great deal with no hassle or gimmicks. There's nary problem he can't fix. He is an old school nuts and bolts mechanic. You're not going to see walls of fancy equipment telling you what the problem is. You're going to see wrenches, impact drivers, sockets, screwdrivers and the like. He's one of those guys that can listen to your car and tell you what's wrong. Like all mechanics, he's got busted knuckles, a bad back and miles of scar tissue. He kept thousands of vehicles that were long overdue for the junkyard on the road. His customer base ranged from the richest people in Grand Forks to the people like me who lived paycheck to paycheck. He treats everyone like they are his best friend. 124 Belmont Road is a little slice of heaven, it's sad it's a forced retirement but Paul has worked 15 hour days and sometimes more to keep his customers happy. As the son of a mechanic with 50 years+ experience, I can safely say that Paul is one of the most respected people in automotive business in North Dakota, scratch that North America.

We took everything off so that they could get to the part to replace it. It should have taken only a couple of hours. Called on the second day, received some excuse that he has not had a chance to look at it and would not be able to until Monday afternoon. That is having my vehicle for 5 days before it is even looked at. Pathetic, unreliable, and not trust worthy. I will be bringing it somewhere else. This company does not deserve my business or hard earned money. Once he looked at it almost a week later, was told other things were wrong and needed replaced. Received a call 2 days later, went to pick up the vehicle, and it magically worked fine. Brought it to another mechanic shop to hook it up to the computer, there was nothing wrong with it. Plus, he did NOT lock my doors and over 200.00 worth of things were stolen. All the owner could do was shrug his shoulders and state, well this is a shotty neighborhood.

Biggest problem, however, was that they left my starter partially disconnected so I'd have trouble with it, then had the nerve to tell me that my starter was bad and needed to be replaced. I found someone else to replace it and that person found the bad connection. No new starter or parts needed and it's been working fine ever since. The owner is misogynistic and incredibly disrespectful of any customer concerns. I tell anyone who will listen to avoid this place like the plague!
