The red velvet was equally dry and wasn't made with cream cheese frosting. It was bland and actually tasted like cheap ingredients. The worst part was the $30 tiramisu for birthday boy. It had the same dense and dry sponge cake and was nothing like traditional tiramisu. I was really embarrassed and we couldn't finish it. I don't write these reviews lightly but I was extremely disappointed, will not return, and will not recommend.

Pablo the ever compassionate owner used to routinely harass me when I was homeless. I never spoke to the guy. Ever. He was particularly incensed that I sat on the bench in front of a friend's former business that just so happened to be a little ways from his building. One morning, he filmed me. Let's put things into perspective- I was homeless. Sitting on a public bench on a public sidewalk on total public property. Reading a book. Not drinking or smoking or doing drugs. Not posing any threat to either him or his business. Just... reading. And what did he do every time he saw me? He'd look at me in a murderous rage, his eyes bulging out, walking inside the building like he was going to come up on me. I understand he's a business owner and wants to protect his business, but what he did to me was way out of line. Way out of proportion with what was actually going on. I don't know who he's so angry at, but it's not me. There's a story about Buddha that makes me think of Pueblo, I mean Pablo. When Buddha first started teaching and traveling to villages, he came to a village where there was a guy who HATED Buddha. This guy decided that he was going to tarnish Buddha's reputation and ruin him. Utterly and completely. The guy came up to Buddha to make a good day worse. Somehow, Buddha was already aware of this guy. He looked at the guy and said "I do not want your anger. I do not accept your anger. Your anger is your anger alone and you must decide what to do with it." The guy took out two phones, his face grew red with anger, and his eyes started bulging as he saw Buddha sitting on a public bench on a public sidewalk on public property, reading the latest gossip about the Brahmins. On a serious note: I'd never insult someone's business, but you guys make cakes. You're not curing cancer. So maybe calm down. read more

Ordered a cake from here for a family members birthday. I had heard somewhat good reviews from friends who used this business. I came in with a clear idea of what I wanted the cake to look like and they were accommodating in that sense. As far as looks, the cake looked great and was exactly what I had wanted. Except, they used fondant for a part of the cake that stuck out and by the time it got to the party, the fondant was starting to lose its shape on the cake, but no biggie. I didnt sweat the small stuff. However, the cake taste was not good. I ordered a marble cake with strawberry filling, thinking it would be good (since they do not give samples or tastings for cakes--only for wedding consultations). The cake was dry and when you cut into it was purely the strawberry cream. Like literally, there was like half and inch of cake and then 2 inches of cream and so on. Even with all that cream, it still had no flavor and was dry. Also, just as others on here have said, be prepared to wait. I set up the pick up time for 1pm, got there at 12:45pm and the cake was not ready. Funny enough as I am waiting they have the nerve to say "ok you have to pay now" and when I attempt to pay with my card, they say only cash. So, I had to go home, which is a 15 minute drive away pick up some cash and by the time I get back which is like 1:45, my cake is still NOT ready. I waited for another 30 minutes and they finally brought the cake out. I mean seriously, these people need better time management skills and shouldnt be finishing up a cake by the appointment time and making the customer wait an hour. read more

I was driving down central ave with someone on my tailgate so I had to turn so fast.... all of the sudden I saw this really cute brick building. Black and white awnings and a crown, I thought what a cute place.... I wonder what they do? When I got closer I saw all the cake posters on the windows. I looked up and it said Royalty Cakes.... umm I thought I really would like to order something from here but its Monday and there closed. I see that there hours are Tuesday Thur Friday so I guess I will have to come back tomorrow. So that's just what I did! On my lunch break I went back to this cute little french place and was greeted by the owner, Andrea and she was so helpful. I told her it is my daughters 30th birthday and I want something spectacular! I want my daughter to be impressed which is so hard to do and I also want to make her cake the best out of all her friend's. We came up with a cute pink stacked cake with a figurine of her on top. I can not stop talking about the details that went into this cake. It must of have taken her hours. The shoes had little bows on them, the hair was exactly the same as my princess (yes, I do know she is 30...can't help myself) I would just like to say how happy I am to have this place right in my neighborhood... you can only find a place like this in LA but not anymore! Had a cake made this past weekend....May I just say AWESOME!!!!!! My nieces cake was a red velvet with cream cheese, vanilla with fresh strawberries and a lemon with raspberry. I still don't know which was my favorite! I was debating to go to this place because of some of the other yelp reviews but I am so glad I did not listen. I am so happy with my purchase and the girl was so sweet.... why anyone would say mean comments about her customer service is beyond me. Great Job Royalty.... I will be back.
