Cannot speak highly enough about Royce and its burgers!! Honestly I've never been so happy to see a place offer a gluten free alternative so I can feel less guilty and come more frequently! They also offer a portabello burger or impossible patty options if that's your jam. Also have kid burgs and grilled cheese for my son! Idk what magic these guys put into their burgers and the fries but SO TASTY, I literally crave this place. A Reno staple MUST if you are visiting! Warning, the place gets packed from about 5:00-8-00ish almost everyday so plan accordingly if you're in a hurry. it is a quaint little joint but if you enjoy a good vibe good burger and good cocktails there is plenty of seating with bar seating, lounge couches, and a dining room in the back. Service is quick however if you come during rush food could take up to an hour but be patient because it is definitely worth it! While you wait it only costs a dollar to roll the dice, let's call it a Royce roll, $1 to get all 5 die the same number and win some money! This is definitely the spot to go if you're looking for a burger and fries that are not gonna let you down! Their Royce burger is super incredible but if you're lucky, they do have specials from time to time and tonight's Chef special was a pork belly burger with chips, but I substituted fries which are amazing with fry sauce or ranch. It's pretty busy, but that's what comes with being one of the best burger joints in town! What else can I say about Royce. Anytime I'm in the mood for a burger, Royce comes up first. I try to tell myself "try somewhere NEW John!" But I never do. Royce is too good, too consistent to pass up! And that's just the burger. Their wings, poutine fries, drinks are all Smackin!!! You really can't go wrong with their Buffalo or imperialism Japanese chicken wings. Highly recommend. Same with the poutine fries and pork belly bites. As for their drinks take your pick, they do everything right. My girlfriends personal favorite is the Royce refresher with Gin, but you really can't go wrong with any. Their menu isn't ROBUST, but that's okay, what they do they do right, consistent, and tasty! They're always top of my list of recommended places for people visiting Reno. Love ya Royce! read more

Went here for a quick bite before a comedy show, and it hit the spot! Their Royce Burger was classic, with American Cheese and the works. We got a few appetizers, but the pork belly stood out the most - it was amazingly tender and crisp. However I wish they had some less greasy options for sides, because I felt greased-out from the burger and pork belly. I'll also mention that the ambiance of this joint is real classic. Its wood walls and curved booths felt nostalgic somehow - plus there are candles at each table which I thought was a cute touch. I'd probably come here again when I'm in the mood to indulge in a solid burger in a pleasant location. I had super high expectations based on word of mouth and reviews about Royce, so it probably couldn't live up to those standards no matter what! Would add a few extra items to the burger next time like jalapeños and bacon. Fries were good, $3 extra. Service- sat at the bar and was waited on promptly. No issues with service, not above or below average. Ambiance- Older house converted to restaurant/bar and it's nice, eclectic. Second time being there but first time eating there and both times, I felt the same about the clientele/ambiance and that is it's a pretty young crowd, i.e. college aged to young 30 something's. My girlfriend and I were die hard Royce fan's for years but the last couple of times we truly experienced the absolute worst service. It took well over an hour for ONE burger and wings and that's fine, we saw the sign they have posted, but if the kitchen is so behind, why am I watching the back of house staff drink beers, eat their dinners and be on their phones while on the line as they are trying to cook food "as fast as possible". After we asked about the time and where our food was we were rudely told "well the wait is over an hour and it is what it is." We received our burger 15 minutes before the wings finally came out and once they made it to the table, the runner put them down and just asked if we wanted a box to take them to go. Not only were we made to wait a ridiculous amount of time for no reason but when we finally got our food we were made to feel unwelcome and pushed out. I've never experienced such bad customer service. Would not recommend to friends anymore. So sad because this place use to be and absolute killer establishment but now whoever is running it doesn't care that their staff is rude and does not care about guest experiences. read more

Royce is the place I go when I want the best burger in town, excellent fries, and a real neighborhood atmosphere where the bartenders and servers actually know my name. Joey even remembers that I didn't like a certain type of wine and will steer me toward another. And ugh the burger is so good! It's two thinner patties that are seasoned instead of just salted, and the lettuce, tomato, and onion are always fresh. Perfect place to grab a night before a show at The Pioneer. Not many seats...so arrive with the knowledge that it can be crowded. We were lucky to grab a booth for 4 at 5pm on a snowy night. Special sauce (1000 Island) is the only option as they do not have mayo. Comes with potatoe chips but one can buy an order of frites which were really skinny and over cooked, like potatoe sticks out of a can. Went last weekend with my roommate around 2:00pm for a quick lunch after our walk around the Truckee River, but it was anything but quick. After looking at the time on my receipt, I realized we had waited 51 minutes for our two burgers, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. We were also told that fries would be an up charge, and chips were the base item. The chips we received with our burgers were lays potato chips. I don't have any complaints about the burger itself, but my roommate and I were both ill for the entire next day so it's safe to say that Royce was the cause. I was also freaked out after watching one of the waiters bring another customer their beer while holding the glass from the top, and then walking to the self-service bussing station to collect dirty plates! I ordered the imperialish Japanese wings and fries with the wasabi ranch. Although I was a bit on the fence about getting them I went for it and so glad I did. If you like a savory taste with a hint of sweet these wings are for you. The only con was the wasabi ranch, it was just not within my tastebuds. I didn't get any drinks but was I tempted... DUH! THE Royce Burger with grilled onions will satisfy your hunger for a big but not too big burger with quality. More like a hipster version of a Double Double for those In n Out lovers. Comes with a side of chips with a choice of fries for an extra price. The setting is comfortable with inside seating either at the bar or the lounge areas in the front and back. Outside seating is nice for Spring and Summer months. Ample parking nearby or easy walk from downtown from Sierra street. The vibe reminds me of your local neighborhood hipster bar with the best comfort food. Other than the burger they have delicious wings, fries, cheese curds and plenty more. Six years have passed since my last review, but not my last visit to Royce. I will admit that before tonight though, my lady visit wasn't that recent, and that's solely because life circumstances had changed which precluded me from visiting. Well, a random outreach to a good friend landed me a seat in a booth in their "newish" dining room for dinner and drinks, and color me impressed again! I've long loved the vibe here. It's old school and nostalgic with all the hits of modern you could want. It's swank enough to enjoy a nicer cocktail but also nostalgic enough to sip on an old fashioned or neat spirit and feel right at home too. Two Russel's reserve neat pours for me and an order to chicken wings and perfectly seasoned shoestring fries had me happy as a clam kicking it here. The best burger in Reno? Certainly one of the best HANDS DOWN! I ate so much so fast that I forgot to take any pictures of the food or the ambiance. I will definitely return and update my review with pics. I always get the Royce Burger, and it is so packed with deliciousness. It knocks the Double Double from In n Out out of the water. The indoor area where we sit always has a game on, but Royce also has a pretty epic patio area. I just wish they opened a little earlier on weekends so I can get my lunch burger in. Defending a 1-hour wait for a burger? Lol. Reno deserves better, but y'all would rather defend mediocre service and mediocre food. This is why we don't have nice things. Yeah, I said it. Mediocre. The first two times I had a burger here it was awesome. Delicious, even. Later on, my husband came by twice, wait was over an hour for food (at least they warned him) so he left. This is RENO, not San Francisco. The last time I went, service was slow AF (waited over 45 mins, and there was no warning about being "slow" because they weren't crowded), the fries were dry and overcooked, patty was dry and overcooked, toppings were sloppy and uneven. Not OK. Maybe someday I'll try it again, but this place is overhyped. If you're willing to go BEFORE you're hungry and wait an hour, yeah have fun. Tried this burger joint this week on the recommendation of a friend. I guess I didn't know what to expect - a bar that also serves burgers. Unfortunately the staff at the bar taking our order were not very friendly or helpful. Our burgers were good, but I would have preferred 1 thicker patty than 2 thin ones so it would be juicier. The chips served with the burgers were just from a bag - I was hoping from house-made. The fries were great though - thin and crispy. The ambiance was weird inside - I didn't really enjoy it. You'd think after all these years in Reno that I would have been here by now! I finally got it together and went for dinner, hearing that the burgers were quite good. Well, the results were correct! Friday night was busy, and waves of people came in and out, but that was a good feel in my opinion. Seating is inside and out and due to the weather, I was inside. My only mission was to have a cheeseburger, and mission accomplished! This cheeseburger was amazing, from every aspect! Perfectly put together, juicy, flavor and hot! Royce is the perfect low key hang out/date night. Offering a full bar, dim ambience, back room full of TVs with whatever game is on...it's perfect! Service is always consistent and more importantly the food is IT! My go to is a Royce burger with bacon, fries, and fry sauce. This occasion I went with the BBQ burger to switch it up. Burger is well seasoned, smashed and lathered with a sweet bbq sauce while the bacon compliments with a crisp.
