    Amazing nigiri
    Laine H.

We are here on vacation from California and are big sushi fans. We loved Banzai so much, we came here twice for dinner on our one-week vacation. Everything was fantastic from the quality of the fish to the rolls and sake selection. Our favorites included nigiri (hamachi, salmon, and kampachi), the lemon drop roll, hamachi abuti (a torched roll), poke bomb, and the Hamachi kama special which was the thickest Hamachi kama we've ever seen. The crispy rice appetizers were good too. We sat in the chairs but they also have fun cushions were you can sit on the ground. The service was warm, friendly, and quick. We were too busy diving in to the delicious food to capture many photos but take my word for it, everything was fantastic. We also loved the sake selection!

Yummy sushi spot on the North Shore! Banzai Sushi Bar has such a really relaxed vibe. You can sit inside or out front at low floor-style tables for a more intimate feel. I got the chirashi bowl and it was so worth it for the price! It was super fresh seafood, generous portions, and plenty of rice. My friend loved their mango roll too. The staff are really attentive and accommodating with food allergies, which I appreciated. Overall, delicious sushi, a cozy vibe, and great service - definitely recommend!

Banzai Sushi Bar - Haleiwa, HI 66-246 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, HI 96712 Visited: November 9, 2025 Total (before tip): $93.20 We stopped at Banzai Sushi Bar in Haleiwa for lunch and were really impressed with the quality of the fish and overall presentation. The tuna was probably the best I've ever had -- incredibly fresh, buttery, and flavorful. We ordered the Special ($28), Cucumber Salad ($7), Sashimi Trio ($35), and a Philadelphia Roll ($19). Every dish was beautifully plated and tasted great. Our server, Yasuko, was friendly and attentive, and the service throughout the meal was excellent. The atmosphere is relaxed and very "North Shore" -- casual but with a focus on quality. If there's one drawback, it's the prices, which felt a bit high for lunch. That said, the freshness and quality of the fish, along with the service, definitely justify most of it. Overall, Banzai Sushi Bar is a great choice for sushi lovers visiting Haleiwa -- fresh fish, top-notch tuna, and great service in a laid-back island setting. I'd gladly come back again.

Amazing atmosphere, staff, and food! Loved every appetizer, roll, and dessert we ordered. Out of all the rolls the fried hawaiian was our favorite, we ended up ordering 3 more rounds of it The salmon was cooked to perfection. Overall 10/10 would recommend to anyone and can't wait to go back!

Insane in the membrane...Banzai Sushi the only way to eat sushi. LOVE how u have the option to sit on the floor to eat. Soft thick cushions of course and a wide TV screen to view surfing footage. I hit the jackpot by ordering the Volcano roll- baked salmon wrapped around roll with baked scallops and Misago and microgreens. Banana tempura was piping hot delish but the vanilla Icecream was rock hard. The matcha green icecream was sweet and delish. Great service, ambiance, food, location.

Best sushi thus far!!! I have been waiting to have sushi for months, due to very time I am somewhere I haven't been impressed, until now!! So fresh, flavorful, and new! My whole party enjoy each roll. We cannot wait to go back! This is a cute small restaurant in the back of a small shopping area. Make sure you get on the waitlist list, before you are hungry! Love the outdoor seating and having the option to seat in chairs or the floor. Service was on point! Never had an empty glass of water! Which for Hawaii and the heat is important! The lychee martini was amazing, not too sweet! We ended our night with the chocolate lava cake, crème brûlée, and the special pumpkin crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was a 10 out of 10. But I want to say the one and only disappointment we had the whole night was with the chocolate lava cake it was slightly dry. This place is on the high side of cost for the special rolls; however, for the flavor and freshness to me it is worth every penny.

We loved our night at Banzai! Service was great and people were very nice! Fish was fresh and nonfish options were delicious and plentiful. They have table seating and floor seating depending on what you prefer. Fun for night with friends or date night. Really enjoyed dining here!

This spot came highly recommended by a co-worker and now I see why. There are two entrances (one from the parking lot and another from the street side), and the setup is casual and welcoming with both outdoor and indoor seating. I got there just before the rush, which worked out perfectly because I was able to snag a seat inside before the place filled up. Ordering is quick and easy thanks to their tablet system. It was super efficient, especially when things get busy. My son joined me, and we decided to go all in with a 2-combo poke bowl featuring spicy garlic and spicy mayo. I chose a mix of ahi and salmon and added avocado (for an extra charge, but absolutely worth it). Every bite was incredibly fresh, and the salmon in particular just melted in my mouth. The bowl was nicely rounded out with salad and rice underneath: simple, satisfying, and done right. My son went with the katsu curry rice, and of course I had to try a bite. It was hearty, comforting, and full of that rich Japanese-style curry flavor that never misses. He also grabbed a spam hand roll, which he gave a big thumbs up. The only minor downside was a few flies making their way in from outside, but the staff was quick to shut the door, which helped. It really didn't take away from the experience much as I was too busy enjoying my poke. Overall, we left full, happy, and glad we made the trek out to Haleiwa. Supporting local spots like this feels even more important, especially after the recent Kona Lows. Fresh food, great flavors, and a laid-back vibe. Definitely a place I'd come back to again.

I was hoping they'd have it that day, and luckily when I walked in, hamachi was listed as a special. I was really excited to try it. The employee who took my order didn't seem very enthusiastic, but that didn't bother me too much since I figured good food matters more. However, when it came time to pay, I noticed the bowl clearly had shoyu ahi instead of hamachi. I politely mentioned that I had ordered the hamachi, and she responded that I had said ahi. I told her it was okay and that I'd keep it, since I didn't want a small business to have to remake a dish over a simple misunderstanding. She asked if I wanted it to remade and I said no it's fine. What disappointed me was that even after I said it was fine and wasn't asking for it to be remade, she continued insisting that I had ordered ahi multiple times. I knew what I ordered because I specifically came in hoping to try the hamachi after seeing it online. I stayed polite throughout the interaction and wasn't rude about it at all, but the attitude during the exchange really turned me off from the experience. It's unfortunate because the food itself was actually pretty decent.

And since I arrived hours after sunset, so dark that none of the heavily promoted "views of the harbor, ocean, and postcard sunsets" could be visible, I can attest that the fresh food more than enough made up for it. The entrees on the menu are divided into two sections: "from the sea" and "from the land." And c'mon, you're in Hawaii, so you really should only be entertaining seafood. I stand firm on that even knowing that the prime rib is one of, if not the only, specialties here and that they run out if you get there too late in the night. I had the furikake crusted baked fish, which was exceptionally tender. The wasabi butter sauce complemented it perfectly and thankfully, the chefs were generous with how much they dolloped onto the plate so I was getting lost in the sauce. The restaurant's decor felt aged in a charming way. Which probably sounds like a backhanded compliment but it did feel on brand: unpretentious and relaxed, if reminiscent of a time pre-Y2K. The service was kind though fairly unmemorable, which makes sense as we were a large and fairly rambunctious dining party.
