They should rename this place Ridiculous Hipster Nonsense. I brought my husband's sandals in for new soles in January. I was told they'd be done in April! It's almost July, and we still haven't heard back from them. I think they charged something like $80 for this simple task, which my husband said he'd pay out of some misguided loyalty to shopping local. Their website says they're on a two-week vacation. From what? Taking months not to do work that should be completed in less than a week. In the future, we will be throwing out our old shoes and buying new ones rather than getting them resoled. It's a lot cheaper and faster. read more

First off, it's not easy to find cobblers anymore. Most shoes aren't built to last or get re-soled. This place took a little longer because they had a lot or orders and was not inexpensive; however, I think that you get what you pay for. I brought in three pairs of Italian loafers (two with existing rubber soles and one with leather soles). I had this place re-role each pair with thock vibram rubber soles. Took about three months, but was well worth it. They look and feel fantastic. I will most certainly be a repeat customer. Price is only an issue in the absence of value and this place did a great job. Well worth the price paid (also probprobably a little more because Vibram soles are a premium brand). read more

Beyond expensive. Limited shop hours and always on vacation! Frustrating and probably won't use services again.

They do exceptional quality work here. I brought in a pair or boots here to have the soles replaced. They did a wonderful job, and were done ahead of schedule. Put a real nice shine on my boots also. Places like this are a "lost art"... Most places don't do work like they do here... I would absolutely recommend and plan on returning here for future, unique, high-quality work. read more

Roy's winterized and old pair of boots of mine and completely replaced the cork and footbed of a bair of old Birks. They went out of their way to make sure they were doing the most cost-effective work for me, and followed-up diligently with phone calls. The work was excellent, and the customer care is of the old school, family-owned type. They also carry a decent little selection of shoe care products and some pretty hearty looking handmade leather belts! read more

Had a bag being restored there for a month. I get a call that it was finished and when I showed up and nothing had been done except a small stitch repair. The owner said, "oh yeah I remember you wanting it restored" Then he told me that he could quickly do the job. He did such a rush job that there were parts not polished. I gave it back to him asking if he could go over sections which were not polished and he begrudgingly did. Upon returning home, I saw other areas which he had missed and I called him saying I was dissatisfied and that I had hoped he could make good on it if I dropped it off again, giving him more time to work on it. He said, "nope, I'm done with it. You can come in for a refund, but I'm done." Really surprised by the owners lack of pride in his craft and poor customer service. Don't even bother. read more

Honestly, I kind of hate having to write this. After waiting for close to 2 months, I got two pairs of boots back with reinforced heels and toes for about 80 bucks. When I picked them up, I noticed that one of the toes wasn't reinforced all the way so I asked for them to fix it, which they did. But I felt like it was strange that I had to point it out. After ONE wear, the toes on said boots are already fraying. Unfortunately this is really the only game in town, so I'll have to go back to get them fixed again, but honestly, I'm bummed that I have to. I'm happy to pay for good work, but this is sloppy work. read more

I brought a pair of Allen Edmonds wingtips here for possible repair after Allen Edmonds' "re-crafting service" returned them to me as "not repairable". One year of consistent use without maintenance had caused a lot of wear. Roy's replaced the soles, conditioned the leather, and provide new laces. In the end, for $90 I have saved a pair of $350 shoes that already feel broken in. The quality of the new soles and stitching looks great and I expect to get another lifetime of use before I'm back. They're also open on Saturday mornings, which is convenient. read more

I had a very difficult move about a year ago. In the midst of it I dropped of a pair of shoes, a simple reattachment of the Velcro strap LL bean could've had them do it for free.. the leather strap of a cool Kenyan back pack.. bearing heavy weights but also visually beautiful and a much used purse made of recycled truck tire with a broken strap.. all of which had their own issues.. the LL bean shoe they noted was prone to the breakage due to being designed with a too small plastic piece to attach the strap.. they fixed both shoes with a new larger piece.. I wear these shoes every day.. awesome repair. The Kenyan basket.. beautiful stitching.. I can't even tell which side broke and it is super strong maybe stronger. The purse I get so many compliments about it.. I always show folks the job they did because I was so impressed by how creative they were! Finally.. I had a trauma happen in like March.. dropped the stuff off they called .. way more than I would've to let me know they had my stuff and it was ready. I tried many times to get there .. really I did.. but they are closed Mondays and I don't work then.. but to their credit they kept trying.. cause they said they could tell how unique and special these items were to me.. THey totally know their stuff.. the work they did was challenging and so good.. I don't have much money but it was totally worth every cent.. and then some! read more

The guys at Roy's Shoe Shop went above and beyond. I will never take my footwear anywhere else for repair. They were informative, affordable, and timely. They fully communicated what needed to be done. A few days after I dropped off 2 pair of boots they called me to let me know that one pair of the boots could use a little more repair than anticipated. They spoke in detail letting me know my options which allowed me to decide how much I wanted to have done and what I was willing to spend to do so. Both pairs of boots came back looking brand new! Not only fully repaired, but fully cleaned and treated. Plus the fellas are so friendly and add a personal touch to every customer I have seen them interact with. I bought several pairs of shoes for my recent wedding. I have very bad feet due to decades of wearing high heels. Roy's Shoe Shop was so dedicated and professional. Even after the first try at stretching them, I still had problems. Roy's was happy to give it another shot and indicated the exact spots on the shoes posing issues. The shoes were done in a few more days. I still feared I'd be barefoot dancing at my wedding but when the day came, I was able to wear the shoes all day. I had a hip replacement surgery because someone crashed into me while I was at a traffic light. The surgeon did not measure properly when he put in the metal device to replace the bone resulting in my affected leg being significantly too long. I have to have either inserts that hold their height (meaning they don't collapse under my weight) or the sole and heel have to be built up to make up for the leg length inequality. They have always gone very far out of their way to make sure the hight is perfect. They do all they can to make the shoes look as good as possible. I have reason to be appreciative and thankful every day because the work they do allows me to work and walk with less pain. read more

Roy's did a fantastic job on my Thousand Milers. New soles and and reconditioning, and they look better than new. Highly recommended.

DO NOT GO HERE!! Roy's Shoe Shop came highly recommended to me. I went in excited to get my boots resoled. They went over the work with me that would be done, gave me a ticket, and told me they'd be ready in 2 weeks. At the 3 week mark I went in because I hadn't heard from them and the phone was never picked up when I called into the shop. They told me at that time that the materials for my boots had "just come in yesterday" and they would be ready in the next few days. At that point I was bummed they weren't ready, but thought I would have them by the end of the week at the latest. 3 more weeks pass and nothing. Out of sheer frustration I call them and am told that the boots STILL ARE NOTE DONE, but they are "working on them right now". After talking with the owner of the shop I expressed my frustration and told them that after being quoted $70 for a job that would take 2 weeks I hardly think it right for them to charge me $70 for a job that is still not complete almost 2 months after the fact! To which the owner told me, "We don't do discounts. You'll see - your boots will be beautiful. Give me a few more days". We went round and round. I told him I didn't care at this point and was going to come in and just pick up my boots, but he informed me the soles had been removed so I'd be picking up boots without any bottom. At that point there was no choice but to have them complete the work. He asked for a few days, I gave him Saturday until 9am (it was Thursday when I called). The work was supposed to be done in 2 weeks, 6 weeks later it's still not done, despite me stopping in at the 3 week mark and having them tell me that they would be done in a few days. When my husband picked up the boots they dropped the price by $10, but I still would not recommend Roy's Shoe Shop. Dishonest about the time it'd take to finish the boots, absolutely no communication, and almost didn't even acknowledge the fact that the goods and services promised to us were not delivered as promised. read more

Disappointed in the customer service at Roy's Shoe shop. I had new soles put on my red leather sandals. This job was done well. When I went to pick them up I noticed they had some blackish tones peeking through. I asked him what it was and he said he polished them as he does all shoes. He tried to buff them up. I took them home. As the weeks passed the shoes seemed to get darker with more of the black tone seeping through. I went back to ask if there was anything that could fix this issue. Roy explained that red shoes are very difficult to polish etc. and there was nothing more he could do. I said why did you polish them in the first place if you knew they were difficult in the first place when you fixed the soles? He said am I blaming him? What proof do I have that it is his fault? I knew it was a mute point to argue and told him next time he should ask a client if they want their shoes polished first. I guess someone who is supposedly a professional would know already about red shoes. Too bad, I had these red shoes for 8 years and never had an issue til I brought them to Roy's for a simple repair. You may want to think twice before going or make sure he doesn't clean your shoes without your permission first. read more

The team at Roy's was wonderful. Brought in two pairs of Frye boots and they were able to make a recommendation on the best solution for each pair. They seemed fair as well, meaning they didn't just say both pairs needed to be completely fixed up and charge me as much as possible. They listened to what I said about the shoes, who was wearing them (one pair was not mine personally), and answered my many questions about how shoes are actually repaired. I'm a curious gal, what can I say. They completed the repairs sooner than they had initially told me and called me to tell me they were ready for pick up. I was so excited. I had another pair of Dansko clogs with a busted heel, that they were not able to repair, due to the construction of the Dankso shoe itself. The shop had two pooches as greeters, which is an added bonus in my book. Any shop that has a friendly four-legged animal I can say hello to gets an extra star! I will definitely recommend Roy's to other people looking for a friendly, quality cobbler. The family history of this shop is amazing, too! read more
