My A/C had stopped functioning on a hot day. I called RPB and Jason came out to fix it that day. Very quickly he told me the condenser needed replacing, it would cost around $470 to replace it, and he would have to go get the part and would be back in an hour. He said another part should be replaced as well since, when replacing the condenser, that other part is normally replaced at the same time, and that would cost another approx. $299. About 15 minutes later he returned. It took him no more than 10 minutes to finish replacing the condenser. When I expressed surprise at how quickly he did the work, he told me he just replaced the condenser, but not the other part since it could wait a while before being replaced. Hmm. Then he said there was another problem. The freon was very low. That would cost around $299. (RPG is supposed to mail me the receipt so I don't have the exact amounts yet.). He took care of the freon quickly. By then, I was getting annoyed by the cost and how quickly he did the work, so I asked for a breakdown of materials and labor. He told me they don't do that. I asked why not. He told me they have overhead, pointed to his truck and said the truck is expensive...(voice trailed off). I started crying (fake) and said that any contractor I've ever used has overhead yet they can break down labor and materials. No answer. I paid him and said I would not be using their company again. As he was walking away I asked for the warranty on the compressor. He said it's warrantied for one year. I asked for the paperwork. He said there is none and that their company warranties the compressor. He said he doesn't know whether the compressor is warrantied by the manufacturer. So, I'm a captive customer? I've been a homeowner for 45 years in various areas. This is not acceptable. Update: it has been two weeks and RPB has not mailed my receipt. They did manage to cash my check. RPB Inc. recently installed a new HVAC system in my mother's home in Cerritos and they did a wonderful job - we could not be more happy! I found them through my mom's local parish bulletin and chose them after considering estimates from HD, Costco and 2 other independent providers also Yelp. RPB prices were very competitive but it's the service that stands out for us. Jason and his team were very courteous, attentive, reliable, and responsive. We also chose to remove asbestos in the attic ductwork and install a whole new duct system. The third party abatement team worked out really too and Jason was there to coordinate and supervise their work. And working on the estimates, permits, and payments with Robyn in their main office, was excellent experience as well. All in all, we're extremely happy and satisfied with RPB and I'm glad that I chose to go with a local, family-owned business because they took excellent care of our new HVAC installation project. In terms of pricing, they are one of the highest in terms of costs. They charge a service fee for estimates unlike many competitors. Plus for such a high price at double the rate of others they should have state of the art tools. What shocked me the most was the techniques they suggested to fix a problem was complicated and unnecessary and ugly. You can do plumbing without destroying any walls or ground if you have the right tools. Note only few plumbers I spoke with had the tools to do it the right way which is surprising. After 17 years RPB service is still 5 stars. RPB installed our central air and upstairs Fujitsu heat pump back in 2006 soon after we purchased our house. Service was excellent. Seventeen years later, our Fujistu system is well past its life, so i called RPB for a quote to replace the system. Given the 17 years, I was surprised at the price and scheduled the install of a very nice AC Pro mini-split heat pump. Jason (who provided the quote and initial service) and Alfredo performed the installation on a really hot day in SoCal. They were courteous, accommodating, and left a clean worksite. Thank you RPB for the fantastic service and workmanship you provided. Our water heater was looking bad so we thought we would replace it proactively. It was 23 years old! Rich stopped by, agreed, ordered and replaced it within a week! They were so courteous and covered our hard wood floors with pads. While installing, Rich called out please do not use the sink in the kitchen. I ran upstairs as he was covered in water and cleaning up the mess I made from the kitchen! My fault! Main Sewer pipe broke and I was referred by our usually Plumber to RPB. They were great and came out to inspect and camera where the break was. I am writing this review on behalf of my mother. She was very pleased to have the plumbing issue resolved at such urgent status. This company is family owned, and the owner is very nice and kind. He was very honest discussing the situation of the plumbing issue for the washer in the garage. Plumbing issues in general are going to be pricey, so what you need to think about is the quality of service is brought to you. If you think about it, paying a cheap price to solve an issue is only temporary, but if you pay just a little more and the issue is resolved for many many years then you gain a profit in the long run. So before you start to look for an even cheaper plumber think about the cost in the long run. Would you like to resolve the problem temporarily or would you like to resolve permanently. So, to sum it up this company is going to be my new go to plumber. Not only are they located near my home. These guys are the best! Seriously! After calling a handful of the top listed Yelp "5 star" companies listed for HVAC repairs, and getting constantly "stood up", I found an old magnet on our fridge for RPB and remembered my parents have used them a few times in the past and were always happy with the service... so I called. Our AC had a problem of leaking water everywhere after running about 10 minutes. I called RPB and a nice lady scheduled Jason to come out the same day! I had seriously been calling all the "supposed top 5 star companies" on yelp and they have been playing games with me for a few weeks! Many promising to come out and they never do! I've found that those other companies like to overbook knowing full well, many of the waiting customers will never get serviced. Anyways, back to RPB... Jason and his helper (sorry forget his name) came out exactly at his scheduled time.... the same day! I explained the problem, Jason told me what it could be, and the prices to fix depending on what was wrong. He quickly went to work and had my AC up and running perfectly in about 15 minutes! Jason and his helper were super nice, honest (you can feel comfortable letting these guys into your house), and experts at what they do!
