I agreed with the first change order regarding a bench but when more change orders and invoices started showing up with no heads up is when I started asking questions. And even when I said that I told them to give me a heads up on out of scope work, I still got new invoices for out of scope work. $1200 for extra hours for sloping the shower pan, $200 for extra trash removal, $600 for extra plumbing work. TLDR: Lowest Bid, Still great work, but expect them to nickel and dime you until it is done.

I have recommended Marks Builders to many of my family and friends, and they've all had great things to say too.  Read on if you want the whole story! I had a leak in a wall between two bathrooms, above the kitchen.  Just to set the scene, my wife was pregnant and we had a baby due 3 weeks after the start of the construction.  My kitchen had a dropped ceiling and was original to the 1970s house.  Dustin worked with State Farm (my insurance carrier) to bring the adjuster's repair estimate up to a par. He and his team worked with us to order cabinets early (we were getting custom cabinets so they had a long lead time), then they gutted the kitchen and bathroom, raising the ceiling to 8' (reworking the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical lines in the process).  They pulled up all of the tile in the downstairs while we were out of the house (and in the hospital having the baby).  We asked for a few days at home without construction when we came home, to which they agreed. They worked hard to make sure that the house was ready for cabinets when they would be delivered. The cabinets were delivered without issue and installed the same week, with the trim taking longer than any other single step because they wanted it to look just right - and it paid off! The finishing touches make all the difference! The granite crew came in and did their thing. Like all of Dustin's sub-contractors, they were on time, professional, and courteous. They did their work well, quickly, and cleanly. We opted for granite counters and granite backsplashes, with different edge finishes in different places, corners, etc. to work around. They did it all well. Our kitchen looks fantastic, even a year and a half later. Through the whole 2-month process, Dustin's crew was on-site 4-6 days/week, except when we asked for the break. We made a lot of changes midway through, and Dustin didn't nickel and dime on the little things (moving an outlet, changing from a 2 gang to a 4 gang plug, etc). He was happy to work with my attention to detail (which can frustrate most people I know) and he did it with a smile - his attention to detail was similar. His crew was always fun to have around, and I never once worried about them being in the home, whether I was there or not. They worked hard to make sure we felt safe with them in the house at the start of Covid. All said, I strongly recommend Marks Builders. They're honest, smart, hard-working, and fun people who care about the work they produce and their customers' experience.

Needless to say, we were nervous as heck! However, Sal Sanchez and his team made our dreams become a reality and made it a breeze. Our new house was built in 2005, so it certainly had that weird "closed-off" style with very separated rooms. Of course we wanted something with a big, open living/dining/kitchen space with several updates. We had two walls taken down, an island built in, countertops changed, and all of the floors taken up and replaced with stained concrete... you know, just a couple of things! Oh, AND we had about 3-4 weeks from closing to vacate our rental back in Dallas. From the very beginning, Sal totally understood what we wanted and needed, even down to the details that we didn't know we wanted (like a push button garbage disposal). When the process finally began, he made sure to keep us up to date on all of the important stuff. If something were to stray from plan, like the sink we really wanted not fitting in the cabinets we had, Sal made sure to come up with solid solutions before bringing us the issue. Capital City Tradesmen really made our dream open space kitchen a reality! (And in a timely manner!) Sal gave us price and time quotes that were still both spot on in the end, even with several changes and a few hold ups. Having a few friends with home renovation horror stories, we feel like we seriously hit the jackpot with these guys. Not only are they professional and create amazing spaces, but they all seem to have an eye for detail in whatever their expertise may be. On top of all this, our AC went out for two weeks!
