We had a tree fall on our house (through one wall + substantial damage to the roof, including 6 large holes) on late afternoon July 3rd. I called RTEC because they had done a great job pruning our trees in the past. The receptionist tracked down a manager and he was at our house within 30 minutes of the call. He assessed the situation in a thunderstorm and arranged to have a crew out at first light. It was a very treacherous situation, our house is on a steep hill and it was a very large tree that pierced one wall and was dangling from the roof in front of several windows. To make it trickier the limbs were intertwined with the roof trusses. They worked non-stop for 6.5 hours on July 4th to surgically extract the tree without doing any further damage to the house or to the plants or HVAC units below. They returned after the weekend to clean up the debris and remove 6 other trees that fell. They also coordinated with the insurance company, which was a big relief given all the other things we had to worry about. This is a plant care company that refuses to take care of your plants. Unbelievable! They will tell you they took care of your yard plants when they only took a walk through your yard. PLUS, they will bill you. You will be very sorry if you contract this person for your yard's plant care. When I logged my complaint, the owner finally responded that I was crazy. Why is he addressing the s.t person as me. Wrong. That person has logged a separate complaint. Funny how the owner would not contact me when I wanted him to and now he is all too eager. In fact he had an employee rate him excellent and try to hack into my facebook. Pretty scary. He is really going off the deep end since I spoke up about his unethical service. His BBB complaint is filed for a refund but I chose not to spend more time on him . I noticed on the BBB site that RTEC received a C- rating and is not a BBB accredited business. These guys were great! At the walk-thru, the arborist spent a lot of time with us trying to find a sensible solution to a 3-tree problem and came up with a workable strategy for all three tress that was the best cost/result compromise of any of the bids we got on the job. Was it the cheapest bid? No, it was a little bit higher, but after having 3 contractors come out to do estimates, they were the ones who did the most careful review of the situation and did the most to gain my trust. I appreciated the line-item proposal that fully detailed the work to be done to each of the trees and also detailed what we needed to do in terms of permissions/approvals before they came on site. It was a refreshing change from, "Prune three trees at [address] for $XXXX." RETC did a fabulous job, the crew was very professional and, much to my embarrassment, they left the site tidier than they found it :) read more

I am a Pastor at Barcroft Bible Church in Fairfax, Virginia and RTEC Tree Care has done some great work for us. Between January and March of this year, RTEC has pruned a number of trees on our entry lane and over 12 trees on our property. When their team showed up they were very courteous and they worked very hard. They gave us great advice on how to improve the looks of our property and then they made our trees so much more attractive. They came back several times and continued their great work. RTEC was absolutely the right response in the time of an emergency. During a windstorm one of our trees was blown over into the street and blocking our neighbor's driveway. Our insurance agency immediately contacted RTEC, who in turn contacted me within the hour. Next morning, by 8:00 AM, Andy from RTEC was at my door. He immediately arranged to have the tree removed by diverting some of his team for the emergency. In less than 24 hours from the tree toppling, it was cut up, removed from the scene, and the entire area cleaned up. RTEC was amazing. I have used this company at least three times over the years, the last time in November. This is a very professional company but you do pay top price. They are very neat and complete the job. They are not like someone from West Virginia (no offense to WVA, I love that state). Certainly, I think for small jobs they are probably overqualified, but if you have a hard to get to huge tree that is dead and is leaning over your house, this is probably the company to use. I would have given them five stars, if not for the top price you pay. Certainly, the work they do is superior, five stars, but they are pricey. read more

Ben, one of their very knowledgeable & certified Arborists, came up with a good plan to help extend the life of our 80+ year-old Mulberry Tree. It had many dead branches and was badly in need of some crown cleaning and re-distribution of weight. RTEC's Arborist Dan came out to my property to look at my Japanese Maple. I love the tree so much and Dan was able to spot a girdling root at the base. He dispatched his team a couple of days after I signed the contract. I wasn't home when they did the service and was happy to see the yard clean when I came from work that afternoon.
