I had previously been seeing Dr Shakil but due to my medication being stabilized I was able to transition my prescription to my PCM. That changed the beginning of the year with increased stress levels with everything going on so I scheduled an appointment with Dr Shakil. She adjusted my medication during the first visit but during my follow-up visit 14 days later unilaterally without notice stated that she was exercising her right to refuse service to anyone and it was refusing to be my psychiatrist going forward. I had stated during session which was supposed to be a safe environment that I was requesting reasonable accommodation from my employer and I needed assistance with my case from an outside entity given my disabilities. She stated that because I am requesting reasonable accommodation and requested / required an external entities assistance with my case she was dropping me as a patient effective immediately. This caused me health crisis and greatly increase my stress and anxiety. I have never felt as discriminated against due to my especially not by a medical or mental health professional in my life. She should be allowed to continue practicing Psychiatry and prescribing medication within the United states. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!! I truly felt abandoned and was given zero time to transition my treatment as an established patient. read more

Extremely poor quality of care. Dr Rubina Shakil is seriously lacking in "bedside manner." She was rude, loud, disrespectful, dismissive. I'm 71 and have never been spoken to in that manner by any psychiatrist or any other doctor. She is rigid and acts like a bully. If you have any thoughts of your own, forget it. She won't listen or give any credence to your comments. She didn't try to understand my goal of trying to take less medication. She criticized at yelled at me like I was an unruly child due when decided to start taking one of my meds again without talking to her first, however, she had approved the refill so I assumed she had approved. Don't expect to meet her in person because all she does is telemedicine and when I needed to have a psychatrist for my son, there was lack of engagement. I had concerns of the medication that was prescribed to my son at one point and called the office, always got the voicemail. I would call, call and call, nothing. Never got a call back on the times I had called. I was told to not email because the employees didn't have the time of the day to go through all emails from patients. Honestly, I love Dr. Shakil. I have been seeing her for almost 2 years now. I came to here after living out of the country after already having been diagnosed with GAD. Luckily I already had a cocktail of meds that worked for me I just needed to get established with someone stateside. I drive from Fort Worth to Frisco just to see her as She is always lovely, personable, and genuinely cares for her patients. The front office staff are always cheery and eager to help you. I understand that everyone has their own experiences, but I personally have not had one complaint about Dr. Shakil. I would recommend her. Dr Shakil is excellent, and her staff are professional and courteous. I started seeing Dr. Shakil for psychiatric care earlier this year, and I would absolutely recommend her to any friend or family member in need of psychiatric treatment. I take off time from work and travel about an hour to get there, but it's worth it to see a physician I trust. I find Dr. Shakil to be knowledgeable and straightforward, and in my experience she exercises appropriate precautions and makes careful judgement calls about treatment. I took my son to Dr Shakil when i thought he had ADD & she recommended several courses of action from which to choose. We decided which was best for my son & this past quarter he got straight A's on his report card! Thank you!! I've been going to Dr. Shakil for a long time and I seriously don't understand how these other patients who left negative reviews had such a horrible experience. She has Always been professional and genuinely cares about my wellbeing! I see her every 3 months and every appt she makes sure that she has all of my current and/or updated medications in my file so there's no chance of combining the wrong meds together. Yes they are strict about your appt time because it's only a 15 min slot...I've been late a few times but I let them know that on my way there and I was able to wait a short time to be worked in and seen but have never been charged for a late fee. In all fairness, I haven't been in to see her yet. The problem is that my husband was in the hospital, so I had to reschedule my appointment. I gave the required 24 hours notice. Then, I fell and very seriously hurt myself and had to cancel my second appointment. When I tried to call and make another appointment, she would not see me because my cancellations "showed a pattern" I tried to tell her that it was for medical reasons, it didn't phase her one bit. So I'm a little torn on this review...I've seen Dr Shakil for a few years off and on, and everything I've read in reviews both on this site and other sites, sound a lot like her. The comments she makes, the length of appt times, the quickness of her diagnosis based off what's in your paperwork, etc. I went in because I was needing help managing situational anxiety, so it was pretty cut and dry medication wise what would help me. But later needed help with some mild depression, and that's when she tried different meds on me, and also made a comment when I told her about side effects, that "this med didn't do that". But I was certain it was from a new med, so I felt a little "unheard". you don't tell a patient that a side effect from a new med isn't real, I'm not making it up? But, still she tried a few new meds, none worked well for me and I gave up. Things started getting better in my life and I only saw her for anxiety after that. So, most of the reviews are pretty accurate. I'm not sure about the money hungry part, as all docs charge about same rates in my opinion....but she's not a doc that's going to spend alot of time figuring out what's wrong with you, or doing tests, or anything like that. 1st apt went well. She was informative, seemed genuinely concerned, was calm and collective, but eager at the same time. However, her bedside manner shifted very shortly as I continued to see her. Last year I made my first appointment with this office, the receptionist was rude on the phone and in person, during my appointment Dr.shakil told me to come back after 1 month so I go up to the receptionist to make an appointment and she cuts me off and says that I'm all good to go. After three months I went back because I wasn't feeling good also I was in school, the doctor gets mad at me starts talking fast not even listening when I tried to explain how I thought they would call me for the app by the way my interaction with the receptionist went. Honestly why would I want stay feeling bad? I tried going back again this year and after another conversation with the same receptionist (I could tell by the rude tone of voice) she said should would call me back. Never got a call back. I have been a patient of Dr. Shakil's for a couple of years now. When I first meet her I thought she was rude, and didn't care about my issues. Upon reflection I found it was my anger, disappointment and depression that was influencing my judgement of her skills. During our sessions I have never felt rushed or made to fell like I was unimportant to her. As a matter of fact just the opposite. After a couple of sessions discussing my issues she made a diagnosis, and prescribed some medication. She didn't prescribe a dosage of medication that left me a zombie, but started with the lowest dosage and added to that as needed. She took as much time as I needed to talk or vent my concerns. I have been in maintenance mode for some time now where, with her help, I have a strategy to refresh my mind and attitude to keep from being depressed. I'm 50 years old and this was the worst experience with a doctor that I have ever experienced. One shouldn't leave an appointment with a Psychiatrist ten times worse than when they went in. Needed her to write a Rx for a medication I have been on for 15 years because my primary care doctor stopped writing triplicate. Not only did she refuse to write it, she told me that I needed to get off the meds I've been on for 20 years, and if I did that, she would consider writing the Rx. She had the opportunity, and the ability, to help get me back on track, but instead chose to derail me completely, I am still shocked at the outcome of my appointment. Awful! She has been over 25 minutes late to our appointments every single time. She knows that I have to make it to work after our appointment and she had the gall to attempt to charge me a late fee when she was the one that was late! I waited in that office for 25 minutes and still nothing, so I had to leave for work and said to call me so we could talk on the way. She calls me asking if I can come in later and when I responded that I do not get off till 7pm she said that she would have to charge me a late fee. She was the one that was late! 25 minutes late! I am now going to be without a medication that has helped me for over 2 yrs. because of some rescheduling fees I had incurred due to my fluctuating work schedule.
