What a surprise. First time visitor and will be a very long time customer. The pizza was so delicious. I ordered double pepperoni and wow! Tasty sauce, delicious cheese and great pepperoni. Cooked to where it was crunchy, the way I like it. I can't wait to be back to try their subs and other toppings.

Man, I'm not sure that I like Gatto's. Most of the reviews are positive and mention that the pizza is good, and the pictures look appetizing. For me, it's just missing something. We ordered a plain cheese pizza, a pepperoni pizza, boneless wings, and cookies from Gatto's through the uber eats app. Shout out to the delivery driver for getting it to us in the crappy weather! And to the restaurant for making it on time The pizzas looked good when they came, however they tasted just okay. The chicken nuggets were packed with flavor and the dipping sauces supplied were very tasty. The cookies are pretty good as well. I don't think I'll be ordering from here again, I'm more partial to a foldable slice.

Was popping into 451 Spirits but arrived 20 min too early... noticed they were directly next door to a true pizza shop that looked like it had interior dining so we decided to stop into Gatto's Pizza and get a pie while we waited. Was happy to see it was open on Sunday as the website say it is not. We went inside to check it out. The good: There is a dedicated parking lot in front of the shop (That made things even easier). Inside we were hit be an amazing aroma of garlic and pizza cooking. The girl that was running the shop greeted us with a warm and friendly hello. The place appeared spotless. We decided, yes, this was a good idea. We placed an order for a small sausage, onions and peppers and since they make their own meatballs... a meatball sub! The not so great: The meatball sub looked amazing. It was cooked perfectly. However the cheese tasted a bit too processed and the meatball really didnt have stand out flavor. Was disappointed. I next tried the pizza. Crust was crispy. No soggy parts. That was a huge plus but the u underneath was inconsistently charred almost burnt in some places like the oven needs to be calibrated. We were suppose to have peppers on it... she forgot them. The homemade sausage had no flavor at all. We ended up asking for some extra sauce and doctored the pie up with table parmesan cheese and a whole lot of red pepper. It wasnt the worst pizza we had but it wasnt the best, either. I so badly wanted to have this place be a five star for the dining room, location and cute exterior... but it fell really short food wise. I would say collectively it is almost a 3 and I can't even give them a full 3 stars. We both felt strongly that the food just had no flavor at all.

Stopped in today as we started this year's Columbus pizza trail and found a hidden gem. Very nice, clean pizzeria in the Clintonville neighborhood. Very pleasant staff who took time to explain their options for their pizza. We got a pizza with house made sausage and onions, and a meatball sub with house made meatballs. They also make their own sauce. You could tell the staff cared about their food and service.

A few tables and the bar I would consider for waiting for your to-go pizza

Not cracker thin but a definite crunch to the bite. Great flavor and ratio of sauce, crust and toppings. Overall better than many pizzas at home in Chicago Really tasty pizza but really setup for carry out

Located on Indianola with a large parking lot.  There are some tables inside for seating but ordering online and picking up was a breeze. Their pizza is what you would call Columbus pizza style, thinner crust and cut into squares. The crust was crunchy and nice but I did feel the pizza could have used a little more sauce so I would order extra next time.

One of the best pizzas in Clintonville! Perfect ratio of cheese, toppings and sauce. Thin crunchy crust. Lovely little old school Italian pizzeria. Staff was friendly and quick with service. Allows alcohol delivery and carry out as well as a small bar inside.

12 inch pepperoni

We got takeout from Gatto's over the weekend. Menu is straight to the point -- 12 or 14 inch pizzas, add toppings and viola. We ordered two 12 inch pizzas, one with just pepperoni, the other with half pepperoni, half sausage, onions and green peppers. Also got a side of cheese garlic bread because it was only $3.50. Food was ready in a timely fashion and was still warm when it was delivered. Honestly, the pizzas looked pretty dang good and I liked how generous they were with the toppings. However, their pizza just didn't do it for me. The crust was too soft (I prefer a little crunch) and the flavor overall seemed pretty bland. The cheesy garlic bread was pretty good though and I was surprised at the amount for how cheap it was.

When you're so hungry for Gatto's pizza, this 12-inch does last long. And I like it cut into squares.

Unfortunately, the Gina's Gem was nothing like what was advertised. I was expecting warm, crusty bread with a roasted cheese dip on the side so you could tear pieces of bread and dip them into the cheese. Instead, the cheese had already been spread directly onto the bread and toasted together. Because of that, the bread lost the texture you would expect--it wasn't crusty or dippable at all. It ended up soft, almost soggy, and the cheese was baked onto the bread rather than being a dip. The whole appeal of the dish was supposed to be the warm bread with the roasted cheese to dip into, and that part was completely missing. Included with the bread was a hot honey that missed the mark on being "hot" and some kind of jam. These options just made everything even more soft....which should have been impossible. The salad was actually the best part of the meal - even though it was a bit spicy. I've always had good experiences here in the past, so this was a big letdown--especially for the price. I just wish the to-go version of the dish matched how it's described, or that expectations were set correctly when ordering. Unfortunately, this experience made me lose all trust in ordering from here again. I can't believe we waited until exactly 3pm (when they opened) to order this.... At the very least the pizza should have been hot.

The sandwich was honestly the highlight of the meal. It was delicious, and the pizza dough as the bread was such a unique touch that you really don't find at many Italian sandwich spots around Columbus. The pizza itself was just okay. As you can see from the picture, the toppings weren't distributed very evenly, so some slices had mostly sauce with barely any cheese while others had way more toppings and cheese but less sauce. I also wish the pizza had been cooked a little longer overall because it was pretty floppy and doughy. One thing that makes it tough is that once the movie starts, it's hard to go back and ask for changes or anything since the theater is packed and getting in and out of the seats feels disruptive. We'll definitely be back to Grandview Theater because we love the experience overall, but next time I'll probably stick to the sandwiches and popcorn and skip the pizza.

The kind of spot where you expect a solid beer and maybe some decent bar food. What you don't expect? No "best pizza in town" ego. Just a quiet little window cranking out square pies that deserve a standing ovation. I ordered the classic red top -- already a bold move -- and added pesto because balance matters and I like to live a little. The result? Beyond reproach. Fresh, loaded toppings. Sauce with depth. And that crust... that beautiful Detroit crust. Crispy edges with that caramelized cheese halo, but still chewy and pillowy inside. The textural contrast is what separates amateurs from legends -- and this? This was legend-level execution. Easily top 3 Detroit-style pizzas I've had. And that's not a casual statement. When I arrived around 10pm on a Sunday night, the place looked like it was in transition to closing (chairs flipped over on tables, no patrons, staff members watching TV in empty booths). However, I was welcomed in to order by the friendly woman at the counter. She answered a few of my questions and when I asked what her favorite was, she immediately said, "Buckeye Garlic Pizza." I took her advice and was also able to add up to three toppings at no additional charge (mushroom, olive and sausage). I took a seat and waited about 10 minutes for my personal 10" pie, which came out hot and with a friendly, "Thank You, Sweetie." I ran the pie back to my hotel and opened up the box. The pie looked amazing. Perfectly crispy outer crust, six cheeses and garlic, along with my toppings. The pie was pretty damn good, with steam coming off the top. The six-cheese blend was interesting, with the dominant flavors being American and Cheddar. The sausage, olives and mushrooms were all fresh and plentiful. Definitely a good option to satisfy my hunger for a late night pizza in Downtown Columbus.
