This is for the Broadlands location (couldn't find it on yelp). If only this place was closer to me, this place is amazing!! My father-in-law recommended we order take out from here and boy was I impressed. The Margherita pizza was so savory, wimple in ingredients but grandiose in flavor, that cheese was to die for! I also had a piece of the sicilian veggie supreme with added artichokes, The crust was buttery and tasty. I also tried the garlic knots which were thick and had the right consistency. The mozzarella sticks were okay, i've had better but I sill enjoyed them. The highlight of my experience was the buffalo wings doused in Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, the wings were cooked to perfection with the slight crisp that I enjoy. For dessert I tried the classic Cannoli, the shell was a bit too hard for me but the filling was good with the right amount of sweetness. I guess i'll have to visit my father-in-law more often. read more

I don't think I can even put into words how much I love this place. As an Italian, I'm naturally very critical of Italian food. This place is definitely on point. Every single thing on their menu that I've tried is absolutely amazing. I go here all of the time, whether it's for pizza, pasta, a sandwich, whatever. They have a lot on the menu to choose from. The owner is really nice...when I lived in Herndon, I used to go to the other location a lot, when it was formerly called "Mr. Hero". We discovered this restaurant shortly after moving here 10 years ago and we've been frequenting it since. Wow can't believe this "pizzeria" is in Ashburn. Rubino's is some of the best pizza I ever had outside of NYC. The Brooklyn slices are great. I generally really like Rubino's. Recently I saw that DoorDash delivered their food so I thought I would give it a try. I have had their normal Ny Style pizza and liked it. I saw they had a thin crust pizza so I thought I would give it a try. When the pizza was delivered it was basically a loaf of bread with sauce and toppings. It was VERY thick for a THIN pizza or even for a thick crust pizza. I called to see if there was a mistake. The lady at the other end of the phone adamantly told me that I got what I ordered. I am not saying avoid the restaurant...although the person on the phone could learn some customer service skills.. just do not expect thin crust pizza when thin crust is ordered. read more

Just ordered take out and oh man was I impressed! Got a Meat Supreme pizza, garlic bread, fries, and two cookies. For those of you who have had fries in a to-go order you know they're usually soggy by the time you get em home, not the case here! They were sooooo good. i ordered da specialty "hand-tossed" vegetarian supreme pizza. Being Italian, i have eaten and made alot of pizzas and this was a poor example. First of all, it was a thin crust, NOT hand-tossed.. Hand-tossed is half-way between thin crust and thick crust. but that not the worst of it. it was almost devoid of flavor. it tasted as though no spices were used...no oregano, no garlic, nothing. the most important part of any pizza is #1 the dough, which should have a flavor all its own, and #2, the sauce, which should be more than just tomatoes. I am glad i ordered a medium, it would hae hated to have to throw out a whole large pizza. read more

As far as a pizza place that has good subs locally- this is simply as good as it gets! REAL NY Style Pizza (A rarity in these parts) and maybe the best subs (steak and cheese and the "Fat Paulie" Hot Italian are my personal go tos) and I am simply a raving fan. We have turned neighbors and friends on to this spot (it is in a strip mall and went through a couple of different brands before settling on Rubinos a couple- 3 years ago) and while they were surprised at our great reviews, they tried it out and reported back similar findings. We have seen the popularity pick up substantially when we are there which, in a place like this is directly attributable to quality. Recenly learned they will even deliver now (I think minimum order is $30) which is a wonderful alternative to the typical pizza delivery joints in the area. Good stuff- can't go wrong! read more

I am all for supporting our local business to help do my part. This is my second time ordering. I know there is a real issue with Door Dash, and waiting for delivery with many orders at once. That being said, after second time ordering, each one has taken over 90 minutes to get food, it's cold, and the order is wrong. I call directly, and then am put on hold. I am sure during normal circumstances the food is very good, but delivery right now and food warmth is bad. I would suggest ordering from another place for now. If you like cold calzones, pizza, and chicken parmesan-$100 order, then proceed. I will visit once the economy re-opens for a 3rd chance, but not with any delivery service. read more

I'm a Northern Virginia Native and have found few gem Italian eateries that have wowed me....this is one of those. I fell in love with this place when they moved in and replaced Mr Hero's in Herndon.. It was a smash hit on my lunch menu since I worked nearby...and now that they've opened up a location in Ashburn..it makes it even more convenient for me when I'm going home or for a weekend excursion. There pizza and pasta are fantastic for a being so fast (You walk up and place your order and they bring you your order). If I had to name their signature items, for me personally their appetizer Garlic Knots are out of this world, and their Cheese steaks...namely the Washingtonian is my personal favorite...something about they way the cheese is so gooey and sticks to your inside. Their canoli's are just plain sinful and so delicious. I have not tried any of their cakes but they are on my to-do list in the near future. This restaurant is very family oriented and ideal for those wanting a step above Jerry's or Ledo's. Free Wi-Fi is a bonus for those on the go who need to have a break from their busy work day. By far, Rubino's serves up the best cold cut sandwich in the region. Their Knuckle Sandwich is phenomenal. They use Boar's Head, which is a MUST by New York Deli standards. Their pizza is also fantastic. Another great item on the menu is their made-to-order cannolis. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's a little pricey (but I believe it's worth it), and if you choose to dine-in (which I almost never do), the service is substandard. The same Hispanic girls that were mentioned in an earlier review seem to be the only servers they have. These girls are extremely slow and confused. Pizza here is decent if you are after the basics, but let it sit after it is brought to your table for a minute or the middle may not be done. Taste is reliable, so is needing a ton of napkins for all the grease. Bacon cheese fries were unexpected but decent, once we picked off the surprise scallions. Chicken parm is Huge but decent enough on flavor. Major selling points here are decent pizza and (ohmygod) ICEEs. If you can, order the whole pie, slices are way overpiced. One of the biggest issues here is actually the people. One of the managers regularly is at the front and usually takes orders, he is a large and intimidating man who obviously just wants you to pay and get out, customer service or good experience be damned. I first went to Rubino's out of curiousity, not to have my order taken by The Godfather. I'm a fan, and not just because I live within walking distance. This has exactly the same menu as the one in Herndon, which is think is probably my favorite pizza place in Northern Virginia. I am very disappointed to have to write this review but I'm hoping maybe it will help make the management/ownership of Rubino's Ashburn make some changes. My husband and I love the food here but the service has repeatedly been sub par. Tonight we wanted pizza so I tried to order online and the site wasn't working. I called and explained this to the person answering the phone and was told "well we're receiving many online orders so I can't tell you what the problem is and we only accept orders online". I tried the site again and explained it still wasn't working and asked for an exception to be made which was denied without any regret or apology. It sucks that instead of allowing me to place an order while I was ALREADY on the phone with her, they refused our business without even apologizing for the inconvenience. As someone who isn't very techy to begin with, it's frustrating that you can't speak to someone and order under normal circumstances but especially when the tech you put in place as mandatory isn't working. read more
