As a lifetime fan of Mexican or Tex-Mex food: Had two steak tacos with re-fried beans for a final cost $18.30 (ouch!) The meat had a lot of gristle and some of it couldn't be eaten as a result The re-fried beans - weren't like any re-fried beans I've ever had before. Instead they were some kind of gloopy soup that one just didn't want to finish. The tortilla chips were unlike any chips I've ever had before - anemic, tepid are some adjectives that come to mind. All they had to do is buy the tortilla chips we all buy at any grocery store chain. Instead they seem to have originated at some corporate chain kitchen. Tried the new longostino taco today . Honestly, it was pretty good --on the taco itself I'd give it a solid 8/10. They've also got the Langostino lobster burrito version right now with Mexican rice, pinto beans, garlic butter, salsa fresca, and chipotle for $15. Looked bomb but too many calories for me . I just grabbed a single taco for $7.36. Yeah, kinda pricey for one taco, but it was really good--worth it in my opinion. They also have a 2-taco plate with chips and beans if you're hungrier. I observed some Door Dash pick up orders for their customers and also there was a lot of customers placing their orders with Mary at the front cash register. This Rubio's Restaurant is a very popular place to hang out with your friends and family. The Shrimp Trio Tacos , these first three soft tacos are double wrapped in a warm soft flour tortilla that includes grilled tender shrimp pieces with sliced avocado's, cilantro, Asiago shredded cheese , and two slices of lime wedges to sprinkle onto these delicious tacos. Still, after all of these years, my love for Rubios has not died and while it's a "chain," it's still local and they do a damn good job. Is my suggestion to order the basic fish taco exactly that, basic? Yep, but when a place has built their business on a singular menu item and scaled far and wide, can you argue it? Nope. The fish taco at Rubio's is still damn delicious and I dare you to try to find another "big box" doing it better. Sure, there are tons of local places kicking out good versions but at what cost? There was far more cabbage and batter, than shrimp!! 3 shrimp per taco and there was so much greasy batter on them, they dripped grease. I have been going to Rubios since they opened a very long time ago. Today was the last time. When they started using the purple cabbage, it was bad. I didnt dine it, just picked up.. I got the taco trio. There was a Baja shrimp, breaded fish and mahi mahi fish taco in the trio. By far the best was the breaded fish, then the shrimp and the mahi mahi comes last. The mahi mahi was good, but the shrimp and breaded fish were way better. Like a burst of delicious flavors from all the ingredients in this dish. From the salsa options to the avocado to the street corn. They had a buy one entree get one free special on their app so I ordered the grilled shrimp California bowl which did not disappoint. The shrimp was tasty and the bowl was filling. The shrimp was incredibly salty-- like they soaked it in very salty water to make them smell less bad. They smelled bad enough that I didn't eat the bowl. My braver husband gave me the salt report but didn't want to finish the bowl either. Everything else was fresh. But a few bad ingredients mixed in ruins the experience for sure. I came to this location for a simple churro craving and it most definitely was a good decision! I ordered through the app on a Sunday afternoon and my churro was ready for pick up within a few minutes. I arrived 10 minutes later and to my surprise, it was still hot and crispy.
