When you enter, you can see that its a locals restaurant so the food will be good. Our server brought menus and waters for the family. If you need the restrooms, when you enter make a right. We ordered two Western Omelets, two breakfast combos and a burger. The portions were great especially the omelets. Each bite was filled with bacon and or veggies. We were visiting for the weekend and this place popped up as a highly recommendation so we decided to give this place a try. The location is about 10 muns from LSU, parking is not that great however we did find a spot. We arrived and realized that this place was crowded we still opted to wait 30 mins. Once we were seated it took a lil while for our waiter to take our drink order(provided it was extremely busy). We finally ordered and the disadvantage of sitting in the front is seeing your food sitting on the ledge waiting for the server to pick it up, another waiter grabbed it and dropped it off. The potatoes (which they call hashbrowns were seasoned good) the chicken fried steak was okay, I recommend the brown gravy the white gravy taste like Campbell cream of mushroom out the can, and were eggs were decent. I hadn't been to Louie's in over a decade, so much so that this is still the new location to me. Yeah yeah yeah it's been in this sport since like 2014? I am sad that it is breakfast and lunch only now. I live for a diner dinner. I was in BR for a meeting last week and convinced my boss that diner lunch was the way to go instead of some fancy place. When he heard about the super hashbrowns, he was in. I had my standard California cooler with swiss instead of cream cheese and it was as perfect as my memory. The super hashbrowns also did not disappoint. Yes having more parking was great and the staff was efficient and friendly. The food is delicious and the service is very good. The portions are large. I've been to this location before and it's trying hard to be the original location just up the road. Inside it's very diner-esque. I really wish they went back to 24 hours because it was the best as a late-night eats place. Now they close too early. Nevertheless it has been a while since I'd been but one of my favorite things to get is the veggie omelet. It is LOADED with veggies. I could have used more cheese, so I'll ask for extra next time. My husband got one of the eggs Benedict dishes and raved about it. The sides of grits and hash browns, respectively, were huge. It's a full service breakfast and lunch location, and everything they have is amazing! It's fed generations of LSU students and Baton Rouge natives, and there's a reason it's still in business today. Breakfast is a major attraction here, and they have everything from the classic combos, to amazing omelettes, and waffles and pancakes. They are known especially for their hash-browns, which are made from cubed potatoes with onions and peppers grilled along with them. They can be had as a side dish, or as a main course with a variety of toppings. Another famous breakfast speciality is the biscuits, which are possibly the best in Baton Rouge. These big rich pillows of goodness are fine with butter and jelly, but even better with gravy. However, there are other meals to be had here. They have a wide variety of lunch or brunch options. I like to mix and match, and sometimes have a burger for breakfast with a side of hash-browns. They have your basics and southern specialties. It's hard to go wrong with thier menu. While the food is the star of the show here, the service and staff need to be commended. I always find the waitstaff to be prompt and helpful. But if one really wants to be involved in the action, ask to be seated at the bar by kitchen area and watch the grilling up close. Seems there's always a pile of potatoes being converted into hash-browns, orders being served up, and the hustle and bustle of an active restaurant. It's fun to watch! read more

Our waitress was great, forgot her name but she was a young girl probably in college. She did a great job. My omelet was cooked good and the bagel was toasted and came with a side of cream cheese that I enjoyed. The restaurant has these black and white striped curtains along the bottom of the windows that is right next to the table and chairs that we sat at and they were very dirty. If I get to come back and visit Baton Rouge, one of my goals is to always eat at Louie's. Apparently I'm not the only one. There was a 45 minute wait this Sunday late morning. There's really no place to wait "inside" so they ask that you wait outside where there are some chairs set out. It was chilly outside so they'll also take your number and call you if you'd rather wait in your car. Nice. Promptly at 45 min, we were called. They know how to make their coffee... as they should. They're a breakfast, lunch and brunch place. Oh I noticed they have a drive-thru window now. I have no idea how long they've had it, but a good option. What to get from their menu that you don't get to order from but every once in awhile? Tammy chose The Mitchell omelet with a side of grits. Mushrooms, sausage, colby cheese and most importantly their grilled hashbrowns. All folded into a beautiful perfectly cooked delicious omelet. I'm not usually a big fan or yellow corn grits, but this was pretty good especially after Tammy touched it up with salt, pepper and butter! I wanted to get their Seafood omelet, but finally decided on the Eggs Cletus. Why? Because of it's menu's description. "Two grilled biscuit halves each topped with a sausage patty and over medium egg, all covered in rich white gravy. Dang near highfalutin." Biscuit was indeed grilled, warm, flaky. Sausage delicious. The food is always hot and so delicious, and they go above and beyond to provide extra utensils or condiments. We got the eggs Louisanne - the English muffin was tough, but the topping was good. William the conqueror - best of the bunch, the mixture of the jambalaya with their shrimp and cream corn was soooo delicious. Eggs Donald - their version of chicken and waffles, I was hoping for actual fried chicken but this is a chicken strip, the waffle could have been fresher, it tasted stale. I normally love their chicken fried steak and their sausage gravy. This time, however they substituted what appeared to be a flat hamburger patty (barely breaded, if at all), with pieces of the same hamburger patty in the gravy in place of the sausage. I only entered the business for a short period before I received my order so no comment on the service. I placed an online more initially for the French toast but decided to order biscuits and gravy as well. I'm a real big biscuits and gravy lover so I'm thoroughly impressed with theirs. The biscuits was so fluffy and the gravy decently seasoned, and it was only $6 !! The sausage in the gravy was okay but I definitely would request to not have it next time. The French toast was definitely underwhelming. It looks amazing but it did not hit. I prefer my French toast sweet and crispy and there's seem to lack the sweetness in my opinion. They had spoken highly of this place as a spot they liked to stop by and my wife and I figure we could give it a shot when visiting Baton Rouge. They have their own parking lot which in some places is a huge plus and it was for us. It is right by the campus so its easy to stop by if your visiting. The place feels like an old time dinner. It was clean inside and the staff was super friendly. She gave us a few recommendations on what to order. The food came out in a reasonable time and it was all pretty good. We were served pretty quickly, despite the fact that the place was packed. We got the Chops & Eggs, and it was really good!! Both the pork chops and eggs. We also got a side of bacon and grits. Bacon was great, grits were pretty decent considering I normally don't like grits at most restaurants, but a little salt and pepper was enough to get these to a decent standard, consistency was good. We went during the week for a late breakfast. The dining room was full, but no wait! I do hear this place gets very crowded on the weekend. We sat ourselves and the waiter arrived a few minutes later. The menu is full of choices.... I really like that everything has plenty of choices. After much thought I decided on a Spanish Omelette which comes with your choice of hash browns, grits, or a bread option. I went with the everything bagel.
