My husband and I had a wonderful experience at the new Ruby Slippers in Lafayette. We were seated immediately with smiling friendly faces. Our server, Elijah was TOP NOTCH! He was well versed on the menu and expressed a love for his job that definitely showed through his communication. He was proud! The service was quick and the FOOD was AMAZING! We ordered the pig candied bacon, the Biscuits & Gravy, Sweet heat chicken and French toast. Food is not good. It's completely different than the New Orleans locations. Food was cold and the fried green tomatoes were tiny.

I don't usually leave reviews, but I feel like people deserve a heads-up. We went to Ruby Slipper in Lafayette excited for brunch, but we didn't even get the chance to eat. The service was shockingly bad from the moment we walked in. We were barely acknowledged, and after being seated, we waited far too long without even a greeting or water. The staff seemed disorganized, inattentive, and uninterested. No one checked on us, and it felt like we were invisible. After sitting for quite a while with no service at all, we decided to leave. We had high hopes because of the reputation, but unfortunately, this was one of the worst customer service experiences we've ever had. I truly hope this isn't the norm, but we won't be returning anytime soon. read more

We were told that the wait would be 15-20 minutes and we waited for over an HOUR. We were still #4 on the waitlist, but one of us went in to complain about the wait time, and they finally sat us. We ordered an appetizer and the server kept saying it would be 5-10 more minutes each time she came back. They even sent the chef to tell us the appetizer would only be 5-6 more minutes. He lied. It was another 20 after that. It took 45 minutes, only for it to come out in a bowl smaller than my head. It came out at the same time as the entrees. When the food came out, it was cold. The hot chocolate was very watery, the pancakes were tough, the grits were watery, the fried fish was over-fried and tasted burnt, and the beignets had no flavor and hard. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxing. The staff were nice and accommodating. They tried to make our experience better, but the food was not it. Overall, it's not a too bad of a place if you want somewhere to take your family. We attended 12/12. The serves was great. Our server Megan was very friendly and sweet and was doing amazing as she did just start. The food could have been better. I had the French toast bites which were very hard and kinda burnt. Was waiting for a refill on my coffee as the staff was all gathered at the bar chatting with each other.
