I noticed they toasted only one side of each slice. Perhaps a more liquid blue berry sauce may be good. Happy Labor Day! Stopped by Ruby Slipper today with a good friend to catch up over brunch. As expected on a holiday, the place was packed. I went with the Bayou Shrimp--gulf shrimp sautéed with pork tasso in a Creole tomato sauce, served over poached eggs, fried green tomatoes, and paired with a cinnamon swirl pancake. Sweet tea as my drink. From the first bite all I could say was WOW. Everything was full of flavor and cooked just right. Special shoutout to Daryl behind the bar--he was nonstop today, handling order after order with no complaints and still keeping a great attitude. Lafayette LOVES new restaurants and honestly, so do I. I was particularly excited about this new restaurant because I've been to the New Orleans location a few times and it always hits the spot. Met my girlfriends here for brunch and we all enjoyed our dishes. The menu is expansive-maybe a little too expansive-because they're just so many things that I wanted to try but went with what I would consider a safe choice which were their poached eggs, but I was lusting over my friends bananas foster pancakes, and next time I am definitely getting that. Service here was impeccable that day we had the cutest little waiter who was such a flirt and so much fun to flirt back with. I definitely recommend Ruby Slipper. I mean they're a New Orleans chain. Other than the booths being very uncomfortable to get in and out of and the very hard seats - this place is great! There's so many delicious sounding choices on their menu! It was hard to decide. Their choices of eggs Benedict is mouthwatering and makes it hard to choose. They seem to be very accommodating if you want to make small changes to the choices. I had the fried green tomato BLT that includes red tomatoes too. I didn't leave a single bite. I ordered cheese grits instead of the fries. SO GOOD!!! We decided to try the Ruby Slipper for our anniversary. I'll keep this short and to the point. We arrived at approximately 9:15 and sat promptly. Our drink order was taken around 9:40. We received our food around 10:08. My wife ordered a make your own omelette with mushroom, spinach, and onion. She received an omelette with no onion and bacon, which she removed before eating. I had the Bananas Foster, which was fine. Our server was nice, but the service and food overall was one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. Got in quickly on a Sunday. I do think it was right before the rush, as it was very cold, and they gave our party of three a large table. Ordered quickly, nothing really off menu. The omelette did have wrong ingredients, but he tasted it and was fine, didn't want to wait. Everyone was quite friendly, paid attention to us, lots of staff hustling around. I went here for the soft opening and had a pretty good time. Service was quick and the waitress was so sweet and friendly. Food was absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed my avocado bowl. There were only a couple of mishaps though. One of our drinks had a hair on it but that was resolved fairly quickly. There was also an issue with a machine that started blasting water everywhere. It was pretty busy so the food did take a minute but that was to be expected. I'm a sucker for their delicious pancakes! The loaded tater tots and the French toast bites did not disappoint if you're looking for a good appetizer though I believe the tots are more filling. She made great recommendations on food and drinks. She took pictures with us and told us about her likes. Another waiter stopped by our table to tell us about the weekday happy hour and he was funny. The manager stopped by to process our payments and see how things were because our waitress has just gotten a huge party and was a little busy. Our food was delicious. I got the Eggs Couchon and the Shrimp Benedict. Flavors were great. The biscuits were so good. Speaking of good let me tell you about the Flight of Mimosas. The location is great, but the parking isn't. The option to check in before you get there is really nice. When we got there, our table is ready. Unfortunately, all they had were booths available and the seating is quite snug. Our waitress was very nice but she forgot to bring our drinks out (a glass of water, and a glass of Coca Cola). We got the Smashburger with fries. The fries were really good. The burger was nothing to write home about. Our bill was correct and our food order was correct. We likely won't return. read more

We visited The Ruby Slipper for breakfast over the weekend and I was not very impressed. The saving grace from it being an abysmal dining experience was the service. Our waitress was very sweet and apologetic for the long kitchen times. Speaking of, the wait for our food was ridiculously long. We were a party of 2, ordered a burger and an eggs Benedict and waited well over 45 minutes for our food which was disappointing at best. The burger was bland over cooked meatballs of a patty. Whatever condiments were supposed to be dressed on the sandwich were missing in action. The burger was so dry and bland I had to ask for some mayo and ketchup just to be able to get it down. The Benedict my wife ordered was underwhelming, overcooked poached egg which is the center piece of the dish so if that isn't done correctly the dish just falls flat which it did sadly. First & foremost the service and waiter we had was phenomenal 10/10 loved him! The food wasn't all that great honestly, it was average at best. I'm sure the kitchen staff is solid, but the menu or recipes seem to be missing some key flavor elements. We found and joined the wait-list online because it was raining and the parking lot was full. When we were about 8th on the list (about 10min after joining at #17) and the rain let up we walked in to check in. We were seated immediately at a high top. Our server was attentive and excellent. I had a bacon bloody Mary and my partner ordered an Irish coffee. Both were good! We split the Benny trifecta and sweet heat French toast bites entrees. I enjoyed the chicken st Charles Benny the most with that pork taso cream sauce. The eggs cochon was like a pulled pork Benny and was also excellent. My partner are the shrimp Benny by himself and liked it. He agrees the chicken st Charles was the best thing we ate. The sweet heat chicken was perfectly fried and the French toast was yummy. If rather the chicken on a sandwich next time though. I liked both elements individually but not as much together. He thought Parish Biscuits has a better Benny overall, but I think it's comparable. We were seated by the kitchen which was fine although it was a bit loud and chaotic. To be honest, seeing how well the kitchen was run made me want to return. They really stayed on top of things and treated each other respectfully. Will definitely return!
