Best brunch we had in Mobile! The French toast bites with praline sauce are exquisite! We both ordered a custom built omelette, and they were cooked to perfection. My omelette was light and fluffy, and the fresh shrimp inside were delicious. I cheated and saved some praline sauce from the starter French toast bites to put on my biscuit along with the honey butter. Lorraine was the best server! read more

Expectations were set high as I was hoping it was compatible to the ones in New Orleans. We came on weekday and we're not immediately greeted but it didn't take long. I must at our waitress was awesome- attentive and personable. The food though- mediocre. My kid loved her pancakes but the coffee (French vanilla special) took longer than my food and came out cold and flavorless. The omelette was just okay- not worth coming out and paying for when I could've made it at home. I may order to go if in need but I know Mobile has much more to offer. read more

We came down to visit friends and wanted to try this place out. Well we ordered Mimosas and they are super warm and they Bloody Mary had so much horseradish in it that we couldn't drink it. The server that only works the weekends rolled her eyes when we told her about the drinks and they couldn't take the liquor off even when we gave it back to them and told them we didn't want it. The serve said oh just our ice in it. Who wants a water down mimosa. No one!!! Then when we got food it was lukewarm and some was even cold and nasty. One of our friends even had a hair in there food. They server didn't even care. If we didn't have to pay the 20% gratuities then we definitely wouldn't have. So we got charged for a Bloody Mary we didn't drink but a sip out of it and the food wasn't not even good. I don't recommend coming to this place ever. You will be highly disappointed. This was a terrible experience. There is plywood on the windows and the restaurant looked very dirty. The music was extra loud. I went to sample the eggs Benedict around 10am. The Blackstone was the dish I wanted to sample. We were very disappointed in the serving size. We told the waitress we were going to split the order. The eggs were $14.00 and did not come with any sides. They arrived at our table cold. The bread was hard and the eggs very runny. We had ordered poached eggs. I also ordered 1 coffee. The total was $24.70 with tax and tip. I asked to speak to the manager and very politely let her know our displeasure. She also could not believe the small amount of food we received for the money. She carefully scrutinized our bill and pronounced it correct. She said there was nothing she could do about it. She did not care and offered zero solution. We were both still hungry when we left. I live in AZ, and wanted to send a brunch to my mother in law in AL for Mother's Day (she recently had hip surgery). I placed an order through Uber Eats. We later found out that some of items on our order were not in stock, and rather than call either me or MIL, the delivery driver canceled the order. We didn't hear from the driver, the restaurant, or Uber Eats. I tried calling Ruby Slipper to speak with someone about what happened but no one answered (tried several times). I left a voicemail and no one called back. Wouldn't recommend this place at all just based on that. read more

Originally experienced the Ruby Slipper Cafe when I was in New Orleans years ago. In Mobile for a wedding with my family, looking for a breakfast spot. Our big problem is finding gluten free options as three of us have Celiac. RSC did not disappoint. This place is all about brunch, which is often a problem for gluten free folks. They had a gluten free menu which basically meant you could eat anything with a few minor alterations. We were in town for three days and ate here 3 times. Bloody Mary was great. I have eaten at other Ruby Slipper's in different areas while traveling and have always had an amazing experience. EVERYTIME we travel I always search for one in the area. Visited Mobile for vacation and was excited to get some to go on our way back home. I was painfully disappointed to have walked in and was not greeted. Servers walking past me and no one acknowledged me. I finally had to stop a girl working the station to ask where do I go to place a to go order. She directed me to the bar. Stood there for a while longer. No one acknowledged or tried to assist me. Everyone just walking past and looking at me but not offering assistance of any kind. A man who I assume is the manager was at the bar on a laptop and still... No acknowledgement or help. Again, finally stopped someone to ask if someone could come take my order. A nice African American woman finally came from the back to assist me. I inquired as to why on the website the menu options are severely limited hence why I ultimately came inside to order. Waitress didn't have a answer for me which I understand. I came back 15 minutes later and got my food. Checked my bags and everything was there but my shrimp and grits were separated into separate containers which I inquired about and was advised that's just how they do it since the containers have lids. I was planning to eat in the car with my family since we had our dog with us. So it was very inconvenient to have to assemble my food. I asked them to provide it to me already made and was advised for me to use the plate that was included to do so. I spent $100 including the tip for three people. I shouldn't have to do that. This is not the experience I expected from this place. I felt unwelcome in this establishment. I think I would have been a little more understanding if it was actually busy. which it was not at all. I just find it ironic how all the non black customers that walked in were greeted and assisted immediately but I was not at all and had to ask numerous times for help and assistance. If you have cameras you can roll them back to today June 6,2023 at around 11:45 to see me standing around looking crazy and confused and no attempts to help me. I was wearing a green dress. The lady that did take my order was very kind and needs a raise. I hope you share this feedback with her. To the rest of the staff. Do better. Treat ALL customers with respect and be courteous regardless of skin color. Also, please make sure you all update the website to reflect your entire menu when placing orders online. We were traveling back home & we were super excited about eating at the Ruby Slipper Cafe. The ambience was nice with hints of NOLA decor...very charming. We had high expectations of great food & friendly service. However, sadly only half of our expectations were meet. We were seated fairly quickly by the hostess but everything went downhill from there. The waitress took awhile to come to our table. She did not seem to know much about the menu & never gave us napkins/utensils. We waited an hour for our order & items were still missing from the order. Then our waitress went MIA. I've been in Alaska working for the past three months and I was dying to try the Ruby Slipper in Mobile when I got home. It didn't disappoint!
