I would give them no stars if I could ... we didn't even get seated before we left. When we arrived the hostess almost acted as if she was too busy playing with the tablet at the podium to talk to us. She was also having a conversation with 2 other people that worked there instead of us. She was able to tell us it would be a 15 minute wait to sit on the patio, so we said we would wait. 15 minutes later we asked someone who walked by how they were going to call us if they didn't have our name and she said we would have to go back to the podium and put our name on the waiting list. At that point a good dozen people had come in after us and so I just told them we were leaving. Don't go here if you expect competent service. read more

I've been here each time I've visited the beach that past couple years so needless to say my husband and I were yet again, looking forward to it. First, they demanded we wear masks to walk to our table. I understand this is a state wide MANDATE, not law but the numerous other restaurants we have visited on this trip have not said the first thing to us upon entering without wearing useless masks. Once we were seated I asked if there were any special coffees since there was no menu given to us and you have to use your phone to look up the menu. The server acted annoyed by my question. My husband's regular coffee had coffee grounds in the bottom. We waited over 20 minutes for our order to be taken but it never was and we never saw our server during this time. We finally decided to leave since they didn't seem to care about our business. We gladly went somewhere else where we were treated phenomenally. I pointed out to her that they were basically hard boiled and she told me she would get 2 more. She was literally gone for 30 seconds and came back with a bowl containing two perfectly cooked hot poached eggs. What the heck? Didn't even offer to get the dish made over again. Kind of defeated the purpose of having hot eggs under Hollandaise sauce. I had the Peacemaker Benedict so I got a pork one and a corned beef hash one. The meat was very tasty and the biscuits, while cold, were large. We had an hour wait to be seated (no big deal, it's the beach) and then once seated we ordered immediately. They sat us outside while it was raining and very windy. It was freezing and we were hoping just to eat quickly and get back to our condo. 58 minutes later our food comes out. It was a very long and cold experience. Came to the Ruby Slipper this morning for my birthday. Not the best choice since I'm allergic to eggs, but really wanted to give it a try. Since my allergy was a factor in my food choice, there are very few items I could even have. I selected a fish and shrimp entrée but was promptly told that because of a fire their fish was delayed. A group of elderly patrons came in & the restaurant refused to give them a chair for their wait so they left. They ran out of straws, no biggie but 2 drinks we ordered needed stirring and we had no silverware. Our food came & still no silverware. When the silverware arrived it was wrapped in a couple a paper napkins, again no biggie but there were 4 of us. Not 2. We had brunch at the Ruby Slipper on a Saturday. There is not nearly enough parking to accommodate all of the vehicles so people are having to park on the side of the road. I do not love that. Once you get inside the staff is very friendly, especially considering just how busy everyone is there. Food is decent overall. Hands-down the best food item we had was the "Pig-Candy Bacon" which is a thick cut bacon baked with brown sugar on it! I really do not need to say anything else about anything! Get that bacon!!
