Mallory was our server and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. She gave us recommendations on food, and we ordered as she suggested, to our delight. I forgot, when we walked in the door, immediately a guy asked what we wanted to drink, and served up a well needed double bloody Mary. Short on bloody, lol. He offered to add more mix but my hubby was very happy with it as it was. If you love animals, and animal photos, paintings, etc, this place is a treat. The walls are lined with photos and pics of some very well loved fur kids. The mural inside was whimsical and fun to look at on our VERY short wait for food. Ok, food. I love fried green tomatoes. Never had it with a Benedict before but I loved it. Hubby had beef tips, squash casserole and onion petals. All delightful. I've reviewed this place in the past and it continues to be my favorite breakfast in Gulf Shores. The food is consistently delicious and the staff are familiar from the many years I have been coming here, so they are doing something right! Two things to know. First, if you get a bloody Mary (and you should), the double is double vodka, not a larger drink. That makes sense when I think about it now, but it was a STRONG drink. Second, our server suggested adding sausage to the biscuit and gravy, so I gave it a shot. I didn't think they could make their gravy better, and I stand corrected. This was a dinner service, under odd conditions with a large party of 50+ people. However, from the service to the food, you wouldn't know otherwise. We weren't seated long before our lovely waitress was over to take drink orders. She was very attentive, returning with requests and refilling drinks quickly. The menu is a mix of American and Seafood options, each week night offering a different special. Also, an early bird special for $12 from 11am-6pm as well as a daily happy hour from 3-6pm including $1 oysters. I was here on a Thursday. So, I had the weekly special which was Surf & Turf, a 5oz fillet, 4 grilled shrimp, gouda mashed potatoes, and green beans. Yummy! Yum.YUM. It was delicious. AND only 22 bucks, a steal at today's prices. Honestly, everything on the menu was a reasonable price, which I loved. The inside of the restaurant as well was clean and designed nicely, offering water side outdoor seating during the warmer days. I would return to Mile Marker 158 Dockside in a heartbeat! read more

4.5 stars. Delicious breakfast! We came for a suuuuuper late breakfast/brunch at around 11:45 on a Saturday two weeks ago. Even then, they were still slammed! We were told only a 15-20 minute wait. Our hungry party of 8 whined at me but I insisted -- I've had Kitty's on my Yelp bookmark list for forever! We enjoyed looking at the cute animal themed decorations in the interior while we waited. So many cute pictures and fun art and visual gags. Fortunately for us, the restaurant was running like a well-oiled machine and we were seated at a lovely table outside within our dining window. Yay! Service was prompt and extremely efficient while still maintaining a polite and friendly demeanor. Our massive amount of food came out quickly and they kept our refills topped up! I heard one of the ladies waiting on another table be addressed as Kitty herself -- it makes me happy to see owners working in their own restaurants! Go, Kitty! Our orders spanned a whole lot of the menu, from breakfast to lunch -- breakfast platters, biscuits, pancakes, patty melts, even a chicken and dumplings lunch special. All but one thing was good! The one item that wasn't a hit was the cornbread. It was strange -- absolutely zero flavor (neither salty nor sweet), and very dry. Other than that, it was all a hit! Items I remember being standout popular were the patty melt and the chicken and dumplings themselves. I got the breakfast platter that came with eggs, potatoes, a meat, and a pancake. I was indulging myself this vacation so I also ordered a biscuit -- need that with a big breakfast! :) My scrambled eggs and bacon were both cooked almost exactly to my liking. A little hot sauce on the eggs gave them what little pizazz they were missing. Crystal hot sauce -- good stuff! I wish my potatoes had been a tiny bit warmer but I enjoyed the little bits of onion and red pepper in there! Biscuit was crispy on the top, fluffy in the middle, and went great with jam! My pancake soaked a looooot of syrup but it too was quite tasty. This was my preferred breakfast spot of our visit by a good margin. We walked in with a party of 10 and were seated within 5 minutes on a Wednesday morning. Thomas was amazing....gathering our orders with ease. Even talked me into a double Mimosa with my water. Clean everywhere! The Meat Lovers Omelette with potatoes was delicious and the biscuit fell apart in my hands!! Yummy! Everyone's orders were correct even down to the "no ham" and crispy bacon. This place is really cute. It has dog and cat pictures on the wall and some very interesting paintings. Unfortunately, the door is right in the middle of the dining room and it's cold when it gets opened and there's not really anywhere to hide from it. The service was good mostly. She was sassy and my friends like that. Bloody Marys are good. Food was okay. Definitely nothing to write home about. My grits seriously needed butter and salt and pepper. My eggs were perfect. The bacon was crispy as I ordered it. Unfortunately, my white toast was burnt on all four sides. I asked for a replacement English muffin that never did show up. My friend said that the crab cake was amazing and that the crab was fresh. Her wife thought differently lol. The hollandaise is good but lemony. Wings were pretty good. This place is located off the beach and we happened upon it on our way out of town. What a fabulous find!! The place is well decorated with great paintings and pet photos all over the walls. It has a small town charm that isn't easy to obtain mixed with a southern diner feel. They have some outdoor seatings as well. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. Customer Service could be improved. Went in to the restaurant and stood at the wait to be seated sign during a busy morning period. Had no less than 2 waitresses walk past us out the door with not even a hello. And 2 people walk to the host station to do something without speaking to us.
