This was our first stop after arriving in Charleston and I knew I wanted to return. I first visited Bitty & Beau's back in 2021 during a trip to South Carolina and was immediately positively overwhelmed by the mission, people, and atmosphere. Since then, I've also visited the Savannah location, so bringing my friends here felt like a non-negotiable part of our Charleston itinerary. Thankfully, they were more than happy to indulge me. While we all came for coffee, none of us actually ordered plain coffee. Instead, we opted for lattes and other specialty beverages, all of which were delicious. What surprised me most was that throughout the rest of our trip, despite visiting several other coffee shops, my friends repeatedly said Bitty & Beau's was their favorite. High praise considering Charleston has no shortage of excellent cafes! For those unfamiliar with Bitty & Beau's, the company is dedicated to employing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, creating meaningful employment opportunities while fostering inclusion and acceptance. As a School Psychologist who works with students of varying abilities, this place holds a special place in my heart. The coffee is great, the merchandise is fun, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the smiles are contagious. Four years after my first visit, I'm happy to report that Bitty & Beau's remains just as magical as I remembered. The world needs more places like this. Five stars for Bitty & Beau's. I'll be back!!!

On my first visit, I was tempted by the limited-time LoveShackFancy collaboration and ordered the Pistachio Rose Matcha Cloud Latte. It sounded amazing: house-made pistachio rose syrup, your choice of milk, topped with fluffy matcha cold foam and rose petals. Unfortunately... it was way (way) too sweet. And this is coming from someone who usually likes sweet drinks. At $10, I powered through it, but it definitely wasn't for me. My friend ordered another one of the collaboration drinks and did not finish hers because it was overwhelmingly sweet. Thankfully, my second visit redeemed everything. I went back to an old favorite - an iced matcha latte - and it was just what I was hoping for. Service was excellent during both visits. While the cafe seems to remain pretty popular, it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded. I still love the atmosphere here. It's such a great place to grab a drink before heading out to explore Charleston or while staying at the Emeline. Lesson learned: sometimes the specials are worth trying... and sometimes it's best to stick with your favorite!

The cake was good and had everything I could ever want in it, but it was a little dry. I think this also had to do with it being the end of the night. The ice cream complemented the flavor well. It would have been better with a second scoop of ice cream though. Service was great! It took about 10 minutes from when we ordered to get our dessert. I would probably come back here again, but not so late at night so there would be fresher cake with more options available.

My family and I never leave reviews but I have to for this place. The food was amazing..... It's in the perfect spot downtown. We parked and walked around and just happened upon this gem for a late afternoon lunch!!! (7/26/22) I'm writing this review because I really want to mention the staff. I'm punching myself because I forget my waitress' name but she was outstanding. Very welcoming and pointed us in the right direction. It is so rare to see staff willing to work together these days but this place has that down. it was a breath of fresh air to see people that genuinely enjoyed working and helping each other. I commend their bosses. Wish we were staying in Charleston longer to eat here again! read more

So disappointed. Mother's Day brunch. My daughter ordered the French toast bites . They were far too greasy, barely any cream cheese and the praline syrup is essentially melted butter with brown sugar. My husband did enjoy the shrimp and grits but nothing to write home about. Had to ask for silverware, food took forever and the server put in order incorrectly and never checked on us throughout the entire meal. Had to search for her to ask for a second cup of coffee and the check. Now we know why they weren't very busy. Too many great eateries to waste a second visit here. read more

We had a great breakfast at Ruby Sunshine. The place was clean, easy to get to, and had a welcoming vibe. Service was fine--not remarkable, but nothing negative. The food was the highlight. The menu had a wide variety of options, including a fun twist like adding a fried green tomato to your breakfast (which we loved). We ordered an omelet, biscuits and gravy, and the pancakes--everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The coffee was excellent too. I went for lunch on Wing Wednesday and ordered some wings and brisket. The brisket was alright, but it was too lean for my taste and lacked flavor. On the other hand, the wings were amazing! They were perfectly smoked and delicious. I also had an Old-fashioned drink, which I would rate 5/10. Overall, I would only return for the wings, as they were the standout dish. My son and daughter-in-law took my husband and I here for Mother's Day and it was fantastic! Our server, Jodi was so friendly and made great suggestions. The food came quickly and was so delicious. I had the Bayou Shrimp Benedict and it was amazing. Shrimp was very fresh and the eggs were cooked perfectly. My husband went old school and got the Southern Breakfast and said it was great. I'm talking like large clumps of dusts caked everywhere and a red cockroach on the wall. I was more concerned about where it disappeared to, but I'm pretty sure it was running away from the food. The bread on my sandwich was as lifeless as the restaurant ambience and personality of the staff. Whatever was inside the sandwich lost its soul when it was crushed between the soot-stained maws of the ancient panini press. Maybe it ran away with the cockroach. When my girlfriend placed her sandwich order, they mumbled "nuhuh" under their mask. After a long pause, they said "we don't have the brioche bun." They didn't really seem to care about anything other than being on their phones. I couldn't finish my sandwich. I gave up after 75% of the first half after the the sum of my experiences gave enough of a verdict. I wanted to give the other half to a homeless person, but that would have been a cruel way to treat someone. I felt like I should have been paid to eat here. Maybe that cockroach was trying to warn me. I had to go to McD's afterwards so I could get fries salty enough to purify my disappointment.
