Ruby Partly Cloudy I've tried the Franklin location of Ruby Sunshine twice now - once pre-Corona and once today. Both times it was merely OK. This review is just based on today's visit: 1) arrived at 9 am on Sunday and there was no wait for a party of 2, though most tables were already filled. 2) They had the little QR code sticker on the table to access the menu but we received one (?) paper menu while others around us had regular laminated menus. (Inconsistent) 3) Servers were all wearing masks. 4) Tables were spaced out but many were so that you would not be 6' from all your neighbors. 5) There were several tables around us with rugrats (kids) and the staff did not do a good job cleaning/sweeping up after them before seating the table again. Granted, that's not their job to pick up after other people's children but, alas, this is the world in which we live. The restaurant, overall, did not seem terrifically clean. I'd give it a C. These days, needs to be an A- for a return visit from me. 6) Case in point: I watched as tables turned over that the staff would go grab a spray bottle of some mystery cleaner and the same, dirty rag and go to town half-way wiping jelly, scrambled eggs and 'Rona and then tossing the towel onto the rack for the next person to grab and use. Gross. 7) Food was missing a key ingredient: love. It was just OK. My scrambled eggs were brown/scorched on the bottom. Toast wasn't buttered. Husband ordered some egg dish that came with avocado and it was more brown than green. 8) Service was slow/not attentive. My coffee cup went empty the second half of the meal. Bottom line: I can stay at home and have the same food and lackluster service and stay in my pajamas. Don't need to go to have Ruby Sunshine blown up my bottom. C- read more

Got sat at 10:17 am and food wasn't delivered until 10:55. Our waitress was less than friendly and totally avoided eye contact. We overheard other wait staff talking about specials and she didn't do that with us. Food was nothing to brag about. Word of advise for tourists--- skip this place and go to Meridees or Puckett's down the road. We are local and thought we'd give it a try- won't be back. Another huge downside is the restroom is not in the restaurant, but rather out the restaurant door, down the stairs, a long hall in offices below the restaurant. read more

We did the waitlist when we were on the way. Once we arrived we waited 5 minutes to be seated. Our server came by quickly and took our drink orders. Gramps was awesome! He was super nice, helpful and got everything we needed in a timely manner. The food was superb! Every time I have been here the food gets better and better! A friend & I been coming to Ruby Sunshine for an early breakfast several times a week for the past month or so. We usually sit in the bar area or outside, and have always found the servers to be friendly & welcoming. We love the fried chicken sliders with french fries. We usually share an order - they are happy to bring us an extra plate & there's never been a problem with splitting the check. One thing we especially appreciate is that, unlike some other area restaurants, they are trying to enforce the current local ordinance requiring masks & other safety precautions. We would not be returning so frequently if that was not the case. Unfortunately, several times we have seen customers refuse to comply & to take out their frustrations on the servers. Everyone needs to remember that the servers don't make the rules, they are simply doing what they've been told to do - please give them a break!! read more

We ate their this morning. The food was great and the service was just right. We both had bacon and it is the best outside my own house. They say they back it. I had biscuits and gravy and my wife had the special French toast which was stuffed with Carmel apples. She told me I might have to eat half of it, but it was so good I only got a couple pieces. Best biscuits I've had in awhile. They are fluffy and big. Delicious shrimp and grits. Enjoyed the NOLA-style cold brew coffee with milk and cream. Thought I was in New Orleans. My companions at brunch all enjoyed their meals. This is a must do when I come back to Franklin. read more

We were lucky enough to have a coveted spot during their soft opening weekend. From the second we walked in the door, we were impressed. Super friendly staff, our server Mimi was super knowledgeable about the menu as well as being able to suggest the best of the best menu items as each of us were torn as to what to order since everything looked delicious! The food is OUTSTANDING! The bread pudding pancakes were exactly a mix of the two, without being overly sweet. While I am not usually a bacon person, I knew that I at least needed to try a bite before I inevitably turned the rest over to my brother. It was good that I finished both delicious pieces without much thought except YUMMMM! I have eaten maybe 2 complete pieces of bacon in the past 3 years combined, but I found myself kind of wishing for a 3rd piece...until I remembered I had enormous pancakes to dig into as well. Portions are HUGE!! Everyone brough nearly 1/2 of their entree home for lunch. I am a little picky about hollandaise sauce, but with the eggs Benedict my Mom ordered, it was PERFECT! This little place has some of the best food in Franklin TN. We had the eggs Benedict and the salmon avocado toast. I would give this place a 10 rating if I could. The servers were so delightful and helpful. It really made our day. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone with out of town guests. This. Place. Is. Amazing. We came here when we were in town for a wedding, and then we HAD to come back the next day... mostly because I was having dreams of their biscuits and needed to get my fill before we left town. The first day I ordered the Spanish omelette and my husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich. He had a sweet tea and I had a mimosa. Everything was on point, particularly the biscuits which are THE BEST I've ever had. They come with this homemade maple butter that just melts into the giant warm biscuits. The next day we came back with a group of 5 for brunch. I got the catfish and grits this time and my husband opted for a repeat of his chicken sandwich which he obviously enjoyed (saying it was amazing which he doesn't often say about food). The service was quick and friendly both times. We had about an hour wait the second time (around 1 on a Sunday and the fair was in town) and no wait the first time. My only complaints are that the second day we both ordered sweet tea with a couple refills and every time were given unsweetened tea which was a bummer. I would definitely come back here and can't wait to have some more of those dreamy biscuits! read more

My husband and I have been looking for a local place with a warm feeling that serves a hot breakfast. We are difficult and the fact that he likes country breakfast and I eat on the healthier side. We took my wife here for Mother's Day early, as I knew it would be a madhouse as the day progressed. No reservations are possible, but the online wait list on Yelp works fantastic, it even tells you how many parties are ahead of you in addition to the estimated timeline. We tried several things, and everything was very good. The Cinnamon Toast sticks were epic in taste and size, and the biscuit that came with the Spanish omelette was huge, but the omelette WASN'T - That's my primary complaint, the value stops there... This place ain't cheap, and when most of the egg dishes run $12-$14 the portions were pretty pathetic - NO way those were 3 egg omelettes. The Migas and corned beef hash were also both excellent, but the prices high and portions embarrassingly small. I'm sure we'll return, but I will be making some very strategic choices... read more

Great breakfast with friends. We loved the option to put our names in the waitlist using Yelp. The morning cocktails were all great including the mimosas, bloody mary's and morning margarita. I had the Peacemaker Benedict and chose Cochon and corned beef both of which were delicious. In our party there were two omelets and the migas all of which received rave reviews. Sometimes Yelp reviews aren't very reliable but in this case they were spot on. Unfortunately this place has a ways to go before they can earn their stars in a place like Franklin. The food is selectively good. Ex: biscuits are pretty good while the pancakes are better at IHOP (no joke). They're trying very hard with service, but there's a huge disconnect between kitchen and dining room. They get 1 extra star because the kids pancake came out right away, while the rest took another 35 minutes. I imagine that they'll go through staff changes before they can really reach the level deserving of our town. It felt and tasted much like a Denny's that scored a prime spot in the circle. read more

There was nothing bad about this restaurant, but there wasn't much great about it either. The hostesses and servers were very nice. There was also someone walking around checking on tables which was great! The overall vibe was very 'cookie cutter.' It felt commercial and out of place for Franklin. The food was pretty bland and some of the combinations were strange. Avocado toast with smoked salmon would seem to be avocado spread on toast with lox on top. When I got it, it was some kind of 'salmon salad' on toast with a cup of pico de Gallo on the side with avocado mixed in. Very strange flavors being combined without any cohesiveness. From a culinary perspective I think the flavor formulation could be improved. Also, everything had eggs. That's obviously a breakfast/brunch staple, but it'd be great to offer some allergy-friendly options in the future. If you like simple brunch, this might be the place for you. If you are picky and/or have a culinary background, maybe not so much? I would like to go back to try the drinks, though. I've heard the Bloody Mary is great! read more

This was our first time at Ruby Sunshine in Franklin. We never got the chance to eat there so, it may be good food. Management of the restaurant was sub par though. We were given a wait time of 35 minutes for our party of 3. 45 minutes rolled around and when we went to check in our seating status we were told that they weren't currently seating because the kitchen was backed up. Open tables...not seating...15+ parties waiting. Poor management. The hostess said she was doing everything she could...that should have been helping get the food out faster then. 1st impression was not good enough to suggest the restaurant to someone else or go back. read more
