As far as buffets in South Jersey go, this is one of the better ones, at least for lunch. At dinner, I'd drop the review to one star, because they seem to leave out the same food that was put out for lunch. At dinner, the salad bar fixings look dry and wilted. The food is often not warm and everything seems a bit greasy. It's fine at lunch though, if you get there early. The food is the usual Asian buffet food, but most of it is seasoned nicely and hot. I wish there were some vegetarian options. It could definitely use some General Tso Tofu or something. They do have excellent fried plantains and their roasted potatoes are especially good. They also have a soft serve machine, with good ice cream (not like that chunky goop at Golden Corral). If you're looking for other desserts, you'll probably be disappointed though. My boyfriend and I have been eating here throughout our relationship and go about every two weeks...we both agree that the sushi is one of the main reasons we come so much. They have lots of seafood dishes and a decent salad bar. Unless you want to wait in line for crab legs at dinner, I would recommend going at lunch because the dinner selection isn't really worth the dinner price. I have never had an issue with cleanliness but the service can be hit or miss. I understand a delay in service when it's busy but there were visits where the place was relatively empty and the service was still slow. Besides the service the only other thing I would have to complain about it the selection of Asian dishes. They have the typical ones such as general tso's, chicken and broccoli, etc but don't many options in my opinion. I have gone to Ruby Buffet since it opened up a couple of years ago, and it always has been very good. I went there tonight and it was excellent. The sushi area was so much better than it was in the past; usually they would have about a dozen different types, mostly of the simple hand roll variety (think tuna roll, California roll, etc..) and maybe 1 or 2 special rolls. This time they still had the basic stuff, but they had just as many choices of the special rolls. They also had 4 different types of sauces and seaweed salad. All of it was excellent! They also had three different crab choices as well, not just snow crab. Everything I tried was delicious, and for 15.60 including drink, you would be hard pressed to find anything better within a 25 mile radius. Since a new buffet opened up in the area, I think Ruby realized that there is competition now, and they definitely stepped their game up! Go Ruby!!! :) read more

I eat here a lot. At least 2-3 times a month. Never really had any problems. The staff is quick to take your plates and the food is always hot and good. Even once I guess they had a problem getting the crab legs so they served snow king crab legs. They were huge. I must of ate 100 bucks worth that day. I love the fruit section too. I don't eat much meat from there but when I do I get the ribs and steak they have and it is always soft and very tender.The shrimp is a nice size and always very good. I never noticed anything being salty. The only complaint I have is the people eating there. People can be so rude. like other say as your second in line for the crab legs. When they bring them out the person in front of you will take them all for themselves'. Or how they let there kids run all over. But cant blame the place for that. They are very quick to refill your drink or help you in any way. The place is always very clean (even the bathrooms). Great now im hungry to go there and it is in the middle of the night. lol read more

Save yourself the trip. The food was terrible. The shrimp was bland, the chicken dry and tasteless. Oh, and if you don't eat all you take they add a 20% charge to your bill. I'm all for not wasting food but some of their food was inedible; fat, tough, etc. Good thing they put big wooden bowls on the table for the crab leg shells.....made a nice hiding place for the yuck food. Visited here for lunch last week with four guys from work I have to say we all enjoyed the food. Place was clean and food was fresh and replenished often. The wait staff was pleasant and very attentive. I have to say it wasn't super busy which I have read sometimes they can't keep up with the crowd. We all will be back. read more

I was there for lunch. It was alright. I have to point out that I got there after 3PM, so lunch was ending. The food had probably been out for a while and had a "leftover" quality to it. Yes, yes, it is their responsibility to keep it fresh, but I am a realist and wasn't surprised or disappointed by this. Price was $8, you can find 10% off online if that works for you. Food selection was OK. I did not see any baked/broiled fish out, which I was looking for. About an hour after I left, I became very thirsty, and stopped for a Gatorade. That was from the large quantity of high sodium food, and again, that didn't surprise me. For the people complaining about shortage of crab legs... they were putting them out while I was there, and you weren't missing much. They were small, but that should not be surprising given the price point. For those complaining about the restaurant being "racist"... well, in my experience, anyone who is or has been in the restaurant industry is "racist". The restaurant is not too isolated from its entrance, so I was getting the cold air when someone walked in, but it was an unusually cold day and this might not normally be an issue. Ruby Buffet was disgusting. People were eating right on the buffet line, licking their fingers and then handling the serving utensils. The buffet food was tasteless and the buffet area was dirty. I had shrimp that was chewy and not fresh and the crab legs were always running out. When I finally got a few clusters, the crab wasn't fresh. The sushi was very limited and there was a lot of gross fried American food on the buffet like frozen onion rings, French fries and pizza. For such a large restaurant, the buffet area was small and cramped. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant was cheap and unappealing and the Chinese food was utterly flavorless. I spoke to an employee at the front hostess stand and she made no apologies at all when I complained. This is the last you would ever want to eat but it did seem to be popular with people who have no manners and no concern for hygiene. I'm sorry I paid the bill. Stay away from Ruby Buffet. read more

This place used to be nicer, cleaner, had better service and women at front were friendly and pleasant. Well, not anymore. Food is cold, seafood dishes are 90% bread and luckily 10% shrimp or "fake crab". Snow crab legs lines/waiting time is longer, woman who replenishes crabs tray reacts angrily when asked when will she bring more, and when she does, it is just a few legs, not enough for people waiting. We always wear our reading glasses here as we have found "surprises" in the buffet more than once. In addition, food spills/ice cream are all over the place on the floor, on the counters, utensils, plates, and serving tongs are consistently dirty; even bathrooms that used to be kept presentable are now smelly, sticky, wastebaskets full, dripping lavatories, broken hooks, some stalls do not lock). We only see the server at the most twice, one when we arrive and he/she asks what we want to drink (nobody was there today) and one when he/she bring the check, usually while we are still eating, and they want us to stop eating to write our zip code in the coupon. Other times they interrupt us while talking or reading to try to start a conversation. Once I was told by a server not to leave leftovers in my plate but to put them in an old/battered dish they leave at each table??? Today I was the third person complaining about something, in a matter of minutes. I don't know what the other two complaints were about but the customers' body language said a lot. In my case, all of the sudden, I am not a senior anymore (I will be 65 in a couple of months). They had been giving me senior discount (10% off) or 15% discount with coupon (it used to be 20%), without me asking, since they opened but today, in a rude, loud, and disrespectful way, the woman at the counter said FIVE times that I have to be OVER 65, on top of that they refused to take my coupon (they put a hand-written tiny paper in front of cash register noting "no coupons today") but when I asked why, she answered " we are just not taking them today".
