As an Italian, I can honestly say I loved this restaurant. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food is fantastic. They even offer gluten-free pasta, which is a great option for those who need it. They start by serving homemade focaccia, and it's absolutely delicious. The wine list is excellent and the service was perfect -- attentive, friendly, and professional. We started with prosciutto and melon and a carpaccio, both very fresh and flavorful. I ordered the grilled branzino (no picture because I was so happy eating it that I forgot to take one!). My friend had the cod with mashed potatoes, which was also excellent. Went to L'Angoletto early hoping for the zucchini lasagna, but they didn't have it available, which was disappointing since that was the main reason I went. I ordered the chickpea gnocchi instead. It was fine, but not as distinctive as it sounded. The blue cheese barely came through, there weren't many vegetables, and overall it tasted like fairly standard gnocchi. We had ordered the special appetizer Octopus--composed with thinly-sliced apples, cherry tomatoes, and sprinkle of arugula. We also ordered Roasted Potatoes which were flavorably cooked. The wine was very reasonably-priced. For dessert we ordered Panna Cotta which was delicious, creamy, not overly sweet, and shareable. The cappuccino was large, intense, yet smooth. The food was very enjoyable and warrants a return trip to try other Mediterranean specialties. The Wait Service was congenial, made recommendations, and were present but not overly so. Top Italian in the Neighborhood! I don't visit L'Angelettos often--in fact, it's been a few years--but after tonight's meal, it's definitely going to become a regular spot for me. The restaurant has such a charming vibe; it's cute, cozy, and was pleasantly quiet with only about six other tables occupied, perfect for a relaxed Sunday night dinner. The food? Absolutely incredible! Every dish was perfection, and we didn't have a single complaint. The service was excellent as well--attentive but never rushed--which made our 70th birthday celebration even more special. We started with the shrimp appetizer, which was so flavorful, and the eggplant appetizer, which had a subtle Middle Eastern twist--absolutely delicious. For our mains: 1. Cacio e Pepe - This is one of my favorite Italian dishes, and tonight's version was hands down the best I've had in the city. Creamy, perfectly balanced, and utterly satisfying. 2. Bucatini All'Amatriciana - A red sauce with smoked pancetta that was rich and hearty. My sister was thrilled to take home the leftovers. 3. Lasagna - Can you ever go wrong? This classic was a crowd-pleaser. 4. Branzino - While I didn't try it, the birthday girl raved about it! 5. Chickpea Gnocchi with Roquefort Cheese - We were a bit apprehensive because we love bold cheeses, but this dish exceeded expectations. I'm surprised I haven't YELPed L'Angeletto before! This is our special place to go after major events or special family visits. We usual go when it is a quiet afternoon because the place is so beautiful during the day with the sun coming in from their bank of windows. However, we have also eaten there during busy dinner hours and have witnessed amazing dishes being served and the warm welcoming service everyone receives- whether a regular or a new customer. The gentlemen who work here make this a neighborhood experience. Our meals here - every single time - have been spectacular. The bruschetta platter, the calamari...we often order the spaghetti with tomato and basil as an appetizer. The steak, the tuna steak when it is on the menu, the salmon, the black linguini di mar, the vongole & pasta... not one dish less than heavenly.... Today, we had hoped to dine there but due to illness did a take-out - a full feast from appetizers to dessert. We don't live far but didn't expect the food to be as incredible as if we were dining there. It was. Especially the calamari which was perfect perfect perfect. I tried for the first time the bucatini and it was everything I wanted. Also, any pasta dish may be made with gluten free pasta. They take food allergies very seriously. As incredible as the food is, it is the service and care that really makes this a special restaurant. The main standouts of this restaurant are its great service as well as the ambiance of the restaurant. The vibe is pretty intimate but they did a great job to accommodate out big group. The food was pretty good but kind of pricey and the portion sizes were rather small (especially for the appetizers). I tried the Caesar salad and the lobster ravioli they had on their specials for the evening. I was a bit disappointed by how little actual lobster was in the ravioli but it was still tasty. Would be a date spot given the ambiance and quality of service, just a bit overpriced for what you get in terms of food in my opinion. read more

We started with burrata, shared the bucatini all'amatriciana and lobster ravioli (special of the day), and finished it off with tiramisu. When our waiter saw us sharing our entrees by swapping dishes, he supplied us with plates so we could eat family style. He said if we had mentioned, he would have split the entrees between two dishes, which was extremely thoughtful of him. The burrata and the bed of prosciutto it was on was yummy, pastas were pretty tasty, and the tiramisu was delicious. We live in Stuytown but hadn't really noticed it, perhaps because of the scaffolding, but we are glad we did. It's a lovely, small restaurant with very attentive service. I wasn't feeling too hungry, so I just had the minestrone and beet salad, which was on special: both were delicious. It didn't say on the menu that they had gluten-free pasta, but they do (I asked), which I'll definitely be trying next time. My partner had the bucatini amatriciana, and they make their own pasta, which he said showed. The sauce and pasta were very fresh. The prices are reasonable and I can't say enough about the service. What a gem! I arrived before the rest of my party but they were able to seat me and get me a pot of tea right away (which they also refilled). The caprese was solid, with fresh tomato and generous cuts of mozzarella. They were able to make my friend's dish gluten free using their carbonara gluten free spaghetti instead of the usual noodle and she loved it. I had their spaghetti with pomodoro sauce and it honestly tied with my favorite spaghetti pomodoro in the US (Scarpetta). Then came dessert. There's no written menu, but every option sounded like a good one. We ended up getting the chocolate mousse, chocolate, and vanilla gelato. They were all exactly what we'd hoped for and decorated aesthetically. Finally they gave us a free shot of limoncello. The service was friendly, checked in regularly, readily provided lots of fresh parmesan when asked, and never hovered. The inside is cute and had holiday decorations up, enhancing the ambiance. The food was DEEEEEELISH. My cacio e Pepe was absolutely melt in your mouth tasty. I stopped by for some authentic Italian food on a Saturday. I placed a reservation for 5:30 and there were a lot of tables open. This was the first weekend of outdoor dining and two days after the big snowstorm so their patio was still coming together. There were a lot of tables spread out and there was a heater at each table but since there wasn't a door built the dining area wasn't as warm as we hoped, thankfully the food made up for it! We ordered the calamari, pork shank, and the fettuccine with lamb ragout. The portions were amazing! Wow, what a great find! We had reservations elsewhere but the restaurant canceled us because a patron became ill there, so we lucked into L'Angeletto. A very warm welcome from Mona, and excellent service by Willy. We had the osso bucco which was delicious, and salmon, which was outstanding, and a beautifully served tagliata angus steak, which was cooked perfectly and delicious. Finishing up with a tiramisu, which was wonderful. All in all, dining al fresco on a lovely September evening, a great meal at a lovely place. We will definitely return soon! read more

Discovered this little gem with my husband after a long morning of running errands. I was starving and we picked the first place we saw. Let me tell you, we can't wait to be back for more. Guillermo, our server, was so well versed on the menu. He made excellent suggestions for food, dessert and wine pairing from their new wine menu.
