It had quite some time we'd been to Ruby's and we are locals, however today 3/14 was a beautiful day in Seaside to eat outdoors along with "Fido". So on to Ruby's. One of the specials today was the Monster Burger, 1lb juicy patty, bacon, ham, onions, lettuce tomato dressing oh, and a couple fried eggs, pickle and fries on the side. Not very impressed with Ruby's. I waited 45 minutes for a to-go order of crab cake sliders, Brussel sprouts, a chicken Caesar salad and a blended root beer. I'm a bit flabbergasted as to why it took so long. The people who ordered ahead of me had already eaten their food by the time I got mine. I didn't order anything very time consuming. As for a food review, I was sadly disappointed. The crab cakes have bacon in them, and it totally overpowered the crab. The root beer was more like a float than a shake so I was a bit confused but still tasted good. Brussels had a ton of cheese, bacon and mustard and were fine. Can't really mess up a Caesar salad so it was also fine. Based on other reviews I thought it'd be great. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? Indoor seating is always a plus. We all enjoyed our meals but there was nothing that made it all stand out. Patty melt needed more sauce but the onions were cooked to perfection. The Brussels were good too, but we've had better at other places. Everything was all just average. And that's ok. I've ate here twice before, being met once with kindness and understanding of my dietary restrictions, and met the other time with hostility. The woman taking my order was kind and helpful in figuring out a vegan option, but apparently there was a misunderstanding and my food came out being inedible for me. After asking for it to be remade, I was told by a cook to "go somewhere else" rather than do the minimum to meet the needs of a customer. If it wasn't for the person taking orders always being so kind, this place would be a rock bottom 1-star with the attitude, accessibility of the menu, and the stickiness of every surface and item in the restaurant. It's really not great, but being a local business that seems to thrive for regular diets, I'm willing to look beyond my experiences and give a 2-star. Never coming back. read more

Family of 4 and we paid over $60 for 3 burgers and a hotdog. The burgers were excellent, good fries (included), and the weather in Seaside during the summer makes eating outside really nice. The location makes it really hard to get in and out unless you are already heading north toward Seaside. My biggest issue, aside from the price, is that the Chicago Dog was definitely not a traditional style. No sport peppers, it was saturated in yellow mustard - which overwhelmed the flavor, and everything seemed "deconstructed"; the tomatoes were not sliced but diced, no pickles spears, and rather than sport peppers there were chopped pepperoncini. The service was good - their handmade shakes are excellent, but they do not have a Chicago Dog here - no matter what their menu says. read more

The food was pretty good. The wings were great. Crispy and the sauce was flavorful with just enough spice. The burger wasn't bad, though nothing fancy. That may be due to my choice in toping though. I loved the garlic cheese fries. My only real complaint is that even though they call the wings a "starter" all the food comes out at the same time. This establishment just served me the worst baby back ribs I've ever had in my entire life. How bad were they? Let's see. They were cold. They were tough, which is the opposite of what baby back ribs are supposed to be. Frankly, it appears they are being dishonest and selling lower quality ribs and trying to pass them off as baby back ribs. They were also slathered in a nasty sauce, probably in a failed attempt to mask the bad taste. Besides that, the service was slower than I would have expected, although I did arrive at lunch. The person behind the counter, though friendly, seemed to be out of his depth and was not being efficient with taking orders. My mother enjoyed her hamburger, and my father enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich, but both of them said that their sandwiches were too greasy. Ruby's was recommended to us by our hotel so we checked it out. Very cool space - good amount of indoor/outdoor seating. Service was friendly and fast. Pricing was good considering the portion sizes. We had a burger with fries - husband said it was okay. We also had a side of onion rings (huge portion and very good) and a coney dog which was HUGE. It was two hot dogs on a bun with really good chili on them - more than enough to share. Chocolate milkshake was good as well. Would stop again! read more

After driving down to Cannon Beach hoping for a good steak, we were greeted with an hour and a half wait and decided to try Ruby's as they were advertising prime rib. The interior is bright and feels like a respectable burger joint. Customers order and pay up front, then your name is called when it's ready to pick up. The lady taking orders seemed flustered, hurried, abrupt, and not particularly helpful. A good example of a person not suited to customer-facing support. Unfortunately, the party ahead of us got the end of the prime rib. Since we were there I decided I'd try a bowl of their corn and crab chowder. My wife wanted to leave knowing steak wasn't going to happen but ordered cheesy bread as a snack. The good news is that the chowder was really good. The bad news is that for the price of a bowl I got a cup (a small one at that). I flagged a staff person down and he agreed it was "not a bowl" and agreed to bring me another small cup. The cheesy bread was....cheesy bread. I can't blame them for running out of prime rib, but the service was lackluster to non-existent at best, and our very simple order was botched and I'm sure would have gone unnoticed had we not called the mistake to their attention. The atmosphere is akin to a hamburger drive in. Just don't expect anything approaching more and you won't be disappointed. Based on our experience I likely won't return. As always, your mileage may vary. Again, set your expectations accordingly. read more

We ordered Chicago dogs (definitely not even close- and way way too much mustard) The crinkle Cut fries were perfectly salted and crisp on the outside- they were our favorite item. We also had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw and the crab n corn chowder. The chowder has a delicious flavor but was like warm and the potatoes were still hard. It would Have been amazing if it had been cooked a little longer to soften the veggies and heat the broth- but, honestly such good taste. We had a wonderful experience here! We were driving up the coast looking for a dog friendly restaurant since we had our dog with us and didn't want to leave him in the car. We found Ruby's on Google and decided to try it out. The food was good and the service was very nice, we were even provided a sample of their biscuits and gravy (they were promoting a new brunch menu/service), along with a dog biscuit for our pup. After driving 220 miles in snow and rain, we opted to wait to eat and anticipated having a tasty County Fair burger at Ruby's after we arrived at our Seaside house. We finally got there, unpacked and at 6:45 PM entered Rubies. Even though a few tables were occupied with diners inside, we were told after we ordered that due to them closing soon, (Hours were published on Yelp that they closed at 8). Our order would have to be take out! ????? Who closes at 7PM on a Friday night? Especially when there were so many people in line behind us waiting to spend money and after most inside dining has been decimated by COVID? I am Very disappointed in Ruby's as we have been good customers since they opened and love their food. I have been in sales taking care of my customers for over 40 years and this is no way to operate a business! Came into town for a basketball tournament and stopped at this sweet little place. Looks like it would be a great place to sit outside and have some beers in the summer. We ordered some grilled chicken sandwiches, the mushroom Swiss burger, and a kids hot dog. The food came out quick and hot. The chicken breast was so good and they toast their buns with butter. They didn't have fountain drinks but had cans available and free fresh water. Overall great place to come and get some grub. read more
