So glad to see The Pocket has reopened on Monrovia (formerly Outpost Kitchen). Made my first visit since they're back and had an excellent Brekky sandwich with really fresh, delicious ingredients. As an Aussie, I've missed having access to food like this. The coffee is great, service is friendly, and the atmosphere is funky and welcoming. Easy parking out front is a nice bonus. Highly recommend if you're looking for quality food and good coffee in Costa Mesa.

Got a Vanilla Bean Latte and Honeycomb Latte. Both were delicious and I love that they make their syrup in house! Service was fast and so helpful on helping me choose a drink. Lots of space to sit, chill music playing. Will definitely be back.

    Blueberry oat honey matcha

It physically pains me to write this review as I love supporting local businesses and have been waiting weeks to try this place. This was my third or fourth attempt going and every time prior they've been closed as they don't open till 8am and were closed on seemingly random days initially (it seems they only closed on Monday's now) This was the blueberry oat honey matcha item (I don't recall the exact name) ordered directly from the menu and unfortunately I took 2 sips and threw it away ($8+ down the drain). I understand the blueberry may dull the matcha color slightly in contrast however the color of this matcha truly looked like swamp water. I've had dozens of flavored matcha lattes in my life and they have been bright and vibrant green no matter what flavor is infused or paired with. I could have gotten past the alarming color if the flavor was there but sadly it tasted like water and milk mixed with ice. The staff was super friendly and the food behind the counter looked amazing although I didn't order anything. Hoping their coffee is much better but until their matcha is reworked I do not suggest ordering it.

The moment you walk in, you are greeted so warmly by the staff. I came with two girlfriends for dinner and our server was just so incredible. We felt quite honestly like we were the only ones in the restaurant but we def weren't. The vibes were beyond quaint, they exceeded in all aspects that we laughed, we devoured each plate that was brought to our table and I just left feeling so deeply content for the kind of service we were provided. Thank you for an out of this world meal, that still makes my mouth water thinking why on earth did I not order more?! Until we meet again Lemon & Thyme

For everyone who had to do multiple laps around the plaza's parking lot to find this place, you're not alone. We were struggling, but eventually found the restaurant tucked away on the outskirts next to a private training gym (the one with the super tinted windows). Upon arriving, the restaurant was very gracious to bestow upon us a pair of complimentary lemon and thyme dinner rolls. They were warm, fluffy, and everything a carb should be. Honestly wish we had more of them, to be honest! The menu was short, which was helpful in its own way. I have such chronic decision paralysis, meaning the more options I have, the more ordering conflicts I'll have, lol. Forever petitioning for every establishment to have tasting flights!!!! We ordered the Grilled Octopus Al Pastor and Ora King Salmon entrees. The octopus was a unique take on the dish, but I don't think I would order it again. I was hoping for more sauce and flavor, but it was more of a dry dish. Still something everyone should try at least once -- especially because feedback is subjective and my experience may not be yours! My friend enjoyed the salmon dish, but it looked pretty standard to me. They also brought out a complimentary Epresso Creme Brulee for my birthday, which was both figuratively and literally sweet. Very decadent and kinda had a nice tiramisu taste to it -- order this! The service was excellent and very attentive. Was very hydrated during this meal because my water cup was never empty! I would come back to try the other dishes with a larger group so I can pick at everyone else's plates, hehehe.

The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere with soft, yellow lighting that makes it feel cozy. There was background music playing which added to the energy, although it was loud enough that conversation took a little more effort than I'd have liked. Service was attentive from the beginning, with the server checking in regularly. I checked in at 8:05, was seated by 8:10, and got my food around 8:30. I ordered the Miso Bacon Carbonara which was delicious. The sauce was rich and creamy without feeling too heavy, and the miso added a sweet flavor that made it different from a traditional carbonara. The bacon was cooked well, crispy around the edges while still tender and the slight kick of spice kept each bite interesting. Overall, I'd definitely come back for this dish. Between the attentive service and food that's both savory and unique, it was a great experience.

Service was excellent too. Shout out Tai? I'm not sure how to spell it. Cute inside with pretty decor but a little small so make sure to put your name down. We went Sunday around 7:30/8pm and there wasn't a wait for party of 4. Pork jowl is a fav of mine and their ssamjjang tastes pretty authentic but definitely had a little twist to it. It was super tender and well marbled. The crispy chicken was also juicy as it was all thigh meat. It reminded me of takoyaki in terms of taste. I wonder if it's because there's bonito flakes in it or something like takoyaki? Scallop pesto pasta was AMAZING. Scallop is my fav seafood and I never had a creamy pesto before. Udon noodles were cooked perfectly. The skirt steak really surprised me. We asked for medium rare and nice never had a skirt steak that tender. The broccolini tasted very charred and smoky (in a good way). It complimented the meat so well. Miso bacon carbonara was a solid choice and we also got that last time. Can't go wrong with it. The wings though were standard fish sauce wings. The slaw was a bit too vinegary or sour for me. Can't wait to come back the next time!

It seems like this spot is super popular for brunch drinks. Had the birria taco and this one was probably my favorite of the dishes tha we ordered. There is a crispy shell, two different sauces, and condiments to add with it. There is a lot of different textures and the meat was juicy. The smoked salmon flatbread wasn't as good, it looks very colorful and pretty, but I didnt think the flavors went together very well. I like the smokiness but the salmon wasn't umami enough to justify mixing in caviar and avocado and arugula that would normally pair well with beef. Finally, had the chicken tinga skillet, which had flavor in the sauce, but the chicken itself was just ok.
