Everyone who is giving Ruchi a bad review is mentioning the lunch buffet. We've had the buffet and agree that it is not overly great...and it is bland...catering to the westchester lunch crowd i guess. The dishes on the menu itself are a completely different story: again the shrimp bagari is amazing, vindaloos, phall, chaat corner, dosas, kerala snapper, naan (mirchi is s p i c y), roti, paneer, etc etc. This place is on par with Indian food in England, which is saying something. read more

Very attentive staff, level of heat can be adjusted to one's taste, I really like this place, except when it gets busy. The food seems to suffer some, either gets overcooked, or dried up from sitting a tad bit too long. One mention to the owner, and things are quickly tended to. I am glad this establishment remains in business. I prefer a local business to a chain restaurant any time. I've been here for the lunch buffet a couple times and also once to order off the dinner menu, and all have been good experiences. If my rating for this place is at all inflated it's due to the fact that Indian restaurants in this area are few and far between -- so this place is definitely worth going to if you live in the area and are craving quality Indian food. I definitely recommend the lunch buffet and I'm pretty sure they don't always have the exact same items on the buffet and change it up a little, which keeps things interesting. If you want to go for dinner, I'd recommend going in a group and ordering a few different entrees to share. Pass on the starters. We ordered the assorted vegetarian platter to start with and it pretty much seemed like an assortment of fried dough pieces, which were pretty boring without topping them with the condiments that were already on the table to accompany the papadum (mint/coriander chutney, tamarind chutney, pickled onion chutney). For the entrees, we ordered a couple different lamb curries, which were tasty and the meat was tender. The entrees were served with rice of course, plus we ordered naan. The restaurant was pretty empty when I was there last on a Saturday evening, but we did see quite a few people coming in to pick up take-out orders. Also, the staff is friendly and attentive... definitely ask them questions if you don't know what something on the menu/buffet is -- they're happy to answer your questions! read more

I was extremely pleased with my experience having dinner here for the first time. My family had never tried Indian food and were apprehensive. The owner was kind and understanding and very helpful, recommending the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala to the newbies. :). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal...down to the last bite of sauce. The restaurant was comfortable and well kept. We will definitely be back for a new option for a Friday night! My husband and I was in an adventurous mood tonight and wanted to try the Indian food here. We were almost turn off by the physicality of the restaurant (i.e not really trendy or modern) but boy oh boy did the food deliver! We loved the basket of naan that we order as it came with a wide variety of naan. I absolutely loved my chili garlic wings! It was a mix of Indian tai cuisine and was so delicious. My husband ordered the lamb vindaloo which was equally delicious! I highly recommend this place if you are in the area! My only recommendation is that they update and modernize the decor which will help make the place feel more trendy instead of grandmother dining room like. read more

My young son really wanted samosas for his birthday, so I took him here for a birthday dinner. The service was great and very fast. Our food tasted delicious, including the vegetable samosas which were hot and flavorful. To top it all off, the staff turned on the "Happy Birthday" song on the restaurant sound system and came out with a delicious dessert (complete with candle) to give to my son. We used to go to Jaipore. My daughter and her friends have loved the food there . Ruchi opened nearer to where we live. We had dinner at Ruchi last week. We loved the food. My daughter felt it was better than Jaipore food. She loved vegetable biryani. Her favorite is chana saag. She loved at Ruchi. We shared gulab jamun and ras malai. they were delicious. Always a delicious meal with very courteous service. Complimentary basket of dal wafers to start. The entrees come in individual bowls, with a communal bowl of jasmine rice. We had lamb saag (spinach cream sauce), vegetable saag, and vegetable dorma (yellow cream sauce), with two orders of bread (a whole wheat one and poori, a very airy dome). I truly enjoyed my visit to the Ruchi restaurant. I had the vegetarian chili and it was spicy!! My taste buds were excited. My boyfriend had the lamb chunks marinated in coconut sauce with curry. Amazing!! When I go back, I plan on trying more spicy dishes. read more

This restaurant is truly a gem . I have had Indian food on a few other occasions but dining at Ruchi had to be the best experience I've had . I went with my boyfriend and his parents for a nice birthday dinner. We all dined and shared a host of different dishes . The puri and garlic nan were amazing . I ordered the coconut chicken with rice , extremely flavorful and just the right amount of spices . We had the samosas for appetizers and they were just to die , cooked to perfection . My absolute favorite dish had to be the palak so good and highly recommend for a meatless option . The waitstaff were extremely friendly and attentive . The best Indian food in this area I've been coming here consistently for over 4yrs. The Tikka is amazing, Biryani as well the Naan Chicken Pokora, Lamb, everything is delish! Mango Lassy drink is tasty too! Even our picky kids love the food! The 4 stars is for the decor if they spruced everything up a bit this place would be booked regularly. There are a lot of options, which makes it hard to decide what to order, but that's not a bad thing. They've got a lot of vegetarian, meat and fish options ranging from mild to spicy. Best Indian food outside of NYC. The lunch buffet comes out in small portions and everything is always super fresh and hot. The spice levels are not too hot unless requested to be very spicy. My wife and I come regularly. The curry goat and tandoori chicken are the best. Always different side dishes at the buffet. We've been here a dozen times and every time there's been at least two items out that we haven't seen before. Also give the mango lassi a try. read more

This is one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to, and I'm English, so I was brought up surrounded by Indian Restaurants. They have a wonderfully extensive menu - I have been there about 10 times in the last month (yes, that's how much I love it), always tried something new, and I've hardly scratched the surface of their menu. Every single dish is delicious, full of a variety of scintillating tastes, and leaving me energized. One star for the nan, but otherwise subpar at best. As one of two occupied tables, our dirty appetizer dishes stayed in front of us until our main dishes were ready, and no water refill. The chicken tika masala was rubbery, and the sauce tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. The chicken jahlfrezi was bitter and uneatable.
