THREE'S A CHARM! I had tried two other Rudy's before landing at the 15th Ave E location. I came in sporting a frizzy, "Gilda Radner" -- curious as to what kind of hair magic might await. Megan the wonder stylist knew exactly what to do with my long-ish curly hair, and had a new product suggestion too -- Curl Cream! I'd purchased (and tried) an array of products (Serum, Gel, Mousse, Leave in Conditioner, Masks, Etc), and now understand the value of a great cut and the right product! My long term stylist was Jessie, who is awesome. Sadly, she move outside of the Seattle metropolitan area, which led me to try another stylist. The first cut Skinner did was fine as she followed what Jessie had done prior to her departure--a French bob. The second cut she did was all over the place with the left side and right sides looking completely different with lots of choppy layers! The lower back section was more like a mullet as it grew out. Thankfully, Pam, the long term stylist of my longest best friend in Pennsylvania, was utterly horrified when she viewed the photos. She was completely flummoxed when she saw my hair in person. It took her over two hours to undo as much of the damage as possible, and she's still shaking her head over it. Unfortunately, traveling to Pennsylvania regularly to see Pam isn't feasible. Given my experience at Rudy's since Jessie's departure, I am ending my relationship with Rudy's. I was regular here for several years from approx. 2015-2018. At that time, with the manager's help, I booked appointments several months in advance (again, this was years ago). Part way through these appointments, they raised their prices by a considerable amount, and I asked they cancel the remaining appointments they had made for me. I proceeded to not come in the shop for months and took my business elsewhere. No big deal, life goes on. Months later, I was out of town and got a call from Rudy's. I missed the call and checked my voicemail, and it was the same manager leaving me an extremely angry, upset message chastising me for "no showing" at my appointment and that I was "banned" from booking there. I still had a picture of the note she had written my appointment times on months before and texted her the picture and reminded her that she had made me those appointments and I had asked her to cancel them. She apologized and admitted she was wrong. I considered the matter settled and went to random Rudy's from time to time after that. Never had an issue. Cut to August 2023 and my regular stylist was on vacation and I needed a last-minute blow out for a work event. I go and see Adam on the 7th and got a really quick blow out. I didn't say a word beyond basic pleasantries, paid and left. Then on August 11th I call and make my son a last-minute appointment at a different Rudy's and someone from the call center contacts me back an hour later and tells me they have to cancel it because I am "black listed" due to "events at the shop on 15th." I explained that was cleared up years ago and the manager at the time apologized and the person on the phone says "no, this is recent, the manager on 15th just called me and told me to cancel your appointment." So, apparently, I did something wrong on 7th? I showed up on time, didn't complain, barely spoke, paid, tipped, and left. I don't understand what I did wrong. I never had a cross word with anyone there at any point (except when the manager called to yell at me by mistake) and never complained (even when I should have). I think this is a really unfortunate and immature way of handling whatever issue it is that I supposedly caused. I am not a regular, and this is no big loss to me, but I think others should know how perceived issues are handled. On general principle, it seems like bad business to fire customers. read more

Made an appointment on their less than friendly app. Appointment and confirmation for 6:15 PM. The stylist at the check in desk said their computer said 6:30. I showed her the confirmation. She said "oh well". I've been going to Rudy's on Pine ever since they opened. I would at least gotten a "sorry". Somebody needs to do some customer service training-especially in a "new" location. I got a simple blowout from Adam for a holiday party and wow...I got ALLLLLLLLLL the compliments all night long. I hadn't really considered Rudy's as a stop for blowout, however, if you want to get a long lasting style job that's under or about an hour, I HIGHLY recommend reserving a spot with Adam for your next soirée or if you just need a boost for the week. I'm booking him for NYE, a summer wedding, and whatever else crops up this year so I may regret leaving this glowing review but hey...he's good! read more

My stylist Jake does a great job. What's ridiculous is I called to tell them I'd be FIVE MINUTES late, i was in my way there, and they forced me to reschedule!!! It didn't matter to them that he schedules appointments an HOUR apart and my cuts are simple and take 20 minutes MAXIMUM; I always decline the shampoo and "product" routine. That's just stupid and wasted his time and mine. I've gone to Rudy's shops for 10 years and I'm never going back. I received an email from Rudy's today that lied to me twice: Jeffrey C, who responded below, should acquaint himself with the facts before writing a flippant response. First, it claimed my stylist schedules appointments 20 minutes apart, which is NOT true. The proof is in the stylist's appointment calendar for the week beginning 6/27, which I've posted below as photos. Second, they implied I should be grateful for not charging for "cancelling" my appointment. I did NOT cancel it. I called to let them know I'd be 4-5 minutes late. read more

I have hair that falls to about halfway down my neck so I booked a long hair cut the first two times here. Went to a stylist who was recommended by a friend and got a pretty decent cut the first time. It was just fine even though at the end I needed them to go back and make some changes. Totally acceptable time and they were very friendly! Went back a few months later for a trim and they only let me say "trim" before speeding me through a 30 min "long hair cut" experience that didn't look anything like the previous cut. It was ok but I wasn't that happy with it so I called the Rudy's reception desk to ask if I could come back for an adjustment. It was past the 7-day cut guarantee but since I didn't need a full hair cut, the reception person transferred me to the location's reception desk. I explained to them that I didn't need the full 60 minutes and I just needed an adjustment so they went ahead and booked me for a "short cut" (AKA 30 minutes). I guess no one consulted the stylist about this choice because when I arrived for my appointment, without preamble, the stylist hurriedly told me there was no way they could give me a "short cut" since my hair was a few inches past my chin. I tried to explain what happened but they didn't listen and really rushed me out and said the only way I could possibly get a cut in that timeframe was if they cut straight across the back without any texturing or layer or shampooing. I didn't want a shampoo but the person seemed so stressed about the whole thing that I really didn't want to push them into something that made them uncomfortable. I felt bad for them and for the whole experience was stressful for everyone involved which seemed avoidable. I wish the reception people had consulted with the stylist first before I came in and made their day more frantic than it needed to be. I think everyone was doing their best but it really feels like the communication fell apart on Rudy's end. I want to go back but between them not giving me a chance to explain what I was looking to have done and the stressful interaction I probably will look elsewhere. read more

Charged 15 dollars more than what was mentioned at the front desk. I was shocked. I explained what I needed and the host said short cut. Which was listed as 42$ but then was charged 57$ plus the tip. Seems this occurs often. Not nice. read more

This one is pretty good. I liked the ambience as normal and the vibe is good. There was plenty of room to distance. My appointment started about 20 minutes late though; the food place I was trying to go to closed before I could get there. The barber was pleasant. Conversation was a bit awkward to start but we found some common interest and that was nice. The haircut I got was good but I'm pretty simple. I get a pretty "off the ears" kind of haircut. Overall good experience but paying $40 ended up being a bit painful to pay for a basic haircut and being 20 minutes late read more

Very disappointed in the turn Rudy's has taken during Covid. The quality of the haircuts have officially reached SuperCuts level yet they still charge over $60 for a men's short cut. I love this barber shop. This chic little barber shop is in the middle of cap hill. Price was a little bit more, but you get what you pay for. The staff, and clientele, are very friendly and personable. I'm very hesitant about trying new barber shops, as I've had three brain surgeries due to cancer. And, several areas of my head/scalp are hyper sensitive. I explained the areas to be gentle with and cautious. I can't remember the barbers name, but he was incredibly gentle and constantly asking how I'm doing, if anything is hurting. He took his time with me, made sure everything looked perfect. All while asking if I'm ok, anything hurting, how am I doing, etc. I've never had a more attentive barber. Most barbers I tell them the caution areas and they go to it. Rudy's made sure I was pain free, will most definitely be coming back. Thank you Rudy's! read more

I had a last minute same-day appointment at the very end of the day, and a woman named Charlotte took such excellent care of me, was joyously passionate about the haircut I wanted, and I walked out of there feeling so incredible and in love with my new cut. Excellent service and price. I called ahead to see if they do walk ins - it's kind of complicated but they booked me over the phone for an appointment in less than an hour which was perfect! There was only one other person getting serviced at a time there very properly distances away so I felt good about that. They did a temperature check and other covid screenings before I entered. My hairdresser was the best I ever had! They knew exactly what look I was going for even though my explanations were kind of wishy washy. The best part is- if within 7 days I decide that this haircut needs to be fixed I can come in and they will fix it. I doubt that I will but it is nice to know. read more

Thomas was so great!! I had an idea of what I wanted and kind of an end goal for my pixie grow out... They knew what to do and talked about my hair type with this cut and how it'll be growing out. Ever since moving to Seattle, I haven't been able to find a decent hairstylist. I've loved other hairstylists, but they were ridiculously expensive, and one took waaaaaaaaay too long to get a cut and color (seriously, I spent 6 HOURS at one place while the stylist juggled me between other clients - NOT COOL). Then I figured I'd check out Rudy's Barbershop since it was closer to my house. Now, I usually say "you get what you pay for" hence my penchant to typically select higher-end salons. But clearly I wasn't happy enough given the price I was paying. Through the luck of the draw, I randomly chose Jessie as my stylist one day at Rudy's, and I haven't looked back since. We don't have the same type of hair at all (which is usually what I look for in a stylist), but I discovered that doesn't matter if you have a good stylist. What I like is that I can tell her what it is I'm looking for, and she's very deliberate and focused when cutting my hair, which I certainly appreciate. I can honestly say that in the six times I've seen her so far, I've never walked out disappointed. I have coarse wavy/curly hair, and have been sporting an asymmetrical cut with a shaved undercut, so, you know, not the easiest haircut ever. So, six times and zero complaints may be a record for me. The folks at the main desk have always been friendly and knowledgeable about the products they carry. (They carry a large variety of Bumble & Bumble products, which I also love.) I love that this little barbershop - national chain though it may be - exists in my neighborhood. I personally would recommend checking them out. Good people, good products, worth the price and then some. read more

Megan is super knowledgable and easy-going, and was always more than helpful whenever I wanted to change something up but had no idea how to explain it. Driving by and needed a haircut, saw they had just opened and they were able to fit me in as a walk in. They only have street parking, but if you get lucky it's a One Hour limit right out front. Got a pretty good cut and nice conversation. The price was a bit high but seems to run about average for Seattle ($34 for basic cut). I have been able to find cheaper cuts in other cities recently but Seattle just seems to be a little more pricey for haircuts. Overall nice clean place, friendly people and got a good cut. The price makes it drop to 4 star. read more

I had an appointment today at 4 pm. which i show up in time, and i was greeted okey by the people in there, Then it was my turn to get the haircut (and i did had an appointment) SO when i took a seat to get mi haircut the Barber asked me what are we getting today? and i politely and smiling said Oh i want a haircut and a little bit of my beard done, and he reply " OH i only have time to give you a haircut" not for the beard "sorry" and i was like WTF for real? and i said Sure, so i seat there feeling that i didnt want to be there. Keep myself quiet to the entire process, wanting to suddenly LEAVE cause he didnt have enough time for me as a customer. And then when he was almost done with the haircut he said: OH I DO HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF TIME, what do you want to do with the beard?? and i said NO THANK YOU, he asked again are you SURE? and i said no thank you. I never felt so disgusted and poorly treated as a guest or a customer, this was one of the worst experience i have had a a customer. IF you ever want to feel as a number, and they dont care about you and the experience you are getting You should go to this place, and the entitlement the barbers feel cause they are all booked is so disrecpectful. NEVER AGAIN. i came home so upset yes i got a haircut, but my beard is still not done, and it was cause the barber said OH i dont have more time. I can't even put into words how much I love Jessie and what she has done for my hair since I started seeing her. She is a total dream and she has given me the haircut I've been trying to get for the last 5 years via fancyshmancy instagram star hair stylists in LA and SF for hundreds and hundreds and HUNDREDS of dollars. None of them got it, but she did! I thought I was cursed to have the Zooey Deschanel cut for life but Jessie liberated me into a chic and edgy style I never thought I could have pulled off- she's also quick, charming, darling, and criminally affordable. This place rarely has walk-in appointments and today they don't have any appointments for the next 2 hours. During the day? What-the-what?! Usually if you go they will try to fit you in after looking VERY annoyed. What happened to the old Rudy's? The place that was casual and you could get decent hair-cuts at a reasonable price as a walk-in? Welcome to the new hill. Forget it... at this price point, you minus well go to a real salon. Trying to get into Rudy's is like one of the circles of hell in Dante's Inferno. They don't take reservations, which is ridiculous. If you walk in, they will give you a wait time estimate, but then they will give your spot away when it turns out their estimate was wrong. When questioned, the cashier admitted that she doesn't really know how long the wait will be but only guesses. Wtf? Worse, people who call ahead apparently take precedent and will bump you lower down the list, even though you're physically sitting there waiting. What a messed up system! Who has time for this?! Are Seattleites really willing to put up with such crappy service? This would never fly in a real city. And why on earth does Rudy's still not have a reservation system?? It's a big chain in multiple cities, so it clearly can afford the software. Even small single-store salons take reservations. Clearly, Rudy's does not care about its customers. Ridiculous. This place tries to hold their stylist to such high standards when they don't know how to do a simple cut. So I walked there (5 minutes from my house) and ended up waiting for an hour. Not sure how the reservation system work, but at least 5 people came after me and got their hair cut. Mary cut my hair today and it was the best haircut I have ever had in my life. Not only was I extremely happy with the result, but the experience was also relaxing and enjoyable. She took her time, I could tell she cared and went above and beyond my expectations. I'm so happy with my hair and to have found a hairdresser I can trust! I was 6 minutes late to my appointment tonight and Sage turned me away saying she wouldn't have time to trim my hair, dry trim, no need to do anything more. I've come here consistently for over a year and have never been treated so poorly. She blamed me and offered for me to travel back to them 2 1/2 hours later while she was sitting in the corner on her phone, saying 24 minutes is not enough time to work with me (she didn't care enough to even ask what I needed done). My time and travel is worth a lot to me, and should be valuable to Rudy's. I will not be coming to this location again. (EDIT) I just spoke with the shop manager Taylor about the issue above and she totally eased my frustration! She assured me she would speak to the stylist and front desk person, she scheduled an appointment for me with one of their veteran stylists, and offered to comp my service!
