I love this place!!! A tiny bit expensive but they give you huge portions, which makes up for that. The food is so good! Salsa bar is phenomenal too :) I am always happy to come here, and the one time that I was ever unhappy with the small size, they were super apologetic, upgraded me to a bigger/more expensive meal AND gave me extra meat and guacamole AND refunded all of my money. So an even nicer bigger meal with extra meat and guac was 100% free. That's great customer service!!! That has only happened one time in 10+ years of eating here regularly, and it means a lot that they want to keep customers happy. I certainly am! read more

We really like the shrimp tacos. Flavorful sauce with avocado and plenty of shrimp that are incredibly fresh, tasty and big. Rice & beans are not bad. Nice selection of Mexican beer. We will be back - good food, decent price and easy location - next to YoYumYum frozen yogurt. read more

First time I went, ordered a fajita bowl with grilled chicken. It was decent enough to give it another shot. I called in the order, "fajita bowl, with grilled chicken". Picked it up, drove home and wouldn't you know it, no grilled chicken. It really shouldn't be difficult to mess a one item order up, too many other options to go back here after that. read more

Horrible service. The cashier lady refused to sell me a machaca burrito because they stop serving breakfast at 1130 and I ordered it at 1135! I would think they would go above and beyond just to accommodate a customer, but I was mistaken. Also, the cost of a small burrito is $10, that's a bit pricey for the portions they serve. read more

This Rudy's is the bet Mexican restaurant in town and has the best taco Tuesday. Everyone and there mothers comes here for the tacos cuz they are larger than the other Mexican plAces in carpinteria but the same price. Horrible customer service. Dishonest employees. I ordered online and went in on my lunch break to pick up my order after paying for it online. I was asked if i was a delivery driver for doordash and then was told there were no orders and that they don't do online orders! To which i replied, "well doordash is an online service.." After spelling my name 3x and showing her the confirmation she finally said "oh could it have been through grub hub?- oh wait we do have an order fron about an hour ago." I was lied to more then once by first being told they had no orders then that they didn't take online orders and lastly the icing on the cake was me being told that they just didnt put the order thru because some times drivers dont show up for online orders so they just assumed no one would b showing up to pick up the food. Not so good. I decided to visit again today after many years since my last visit. Disappointed and expensive for what I got. Two grilled chicken soft tacos and a regular size drink cost $14! There was nothing to them, just chicken and supposedly Pico de Gallo. I couldn't find it. The salsas at the salsa bar are not flavorful. As we sat down to look at the laminated one page menu- the tables were dirty with food on chair and random rice on table. This place is a dump- skip it. My veggie nachos were decent, exactly what I wanted and expected. However, my niece had a carnitas burrito where the meat tasted off. When we approached the cashier and told her about the meat tasting like it was possibly starting to go bad, she told us, "that's the way carnitas tastes". I've had amazing carnitas and I've had subpar carnitas...and this was neither, just bad. The two stars are for really poor customer service. The service is not very good. They close at 9pm, I walked in at 8:34 and was told they were closed. I asked the cashier what time they close, she told me 9, so I showed her the time on my phone. She looked at the cook and he said "No", so she then told me the kitchen was done for the night. I don't see why the establishment has their hours listed to 9pm (with the open sign still up) only to tell me they are closed. I even called before I left home to double check the time but no one picked up (not to mention checking online to no avail). I'm not sure who's decision it was to close the kitchen up early, managements or the cook, but I've had the hardest time over the phone trying to get a hold of a manager... On the positive side I have enjoyed the food over the years. A tad pricey for standard mexican food, but decent quantities. If you don't care for service then you'd probably enjoy the place. At first glance I was like uh-oh, bad reviews, and non traditional looking restaurant. I was trucking for about 14 hours that day, haven't stopped to eaten all day, so I was starving. I stayed at the motel 6 and they recommended it. So I gave it a chance, I got a Pastor wet burrito. I was expecting a depressing burrito. When I got it, there was generous portions, great tasting chips and dip. I was pleasantly satisfied and would recommend anyone to go. Absolutely awful!!!!! Employee was mopping with what seemed straight pine sol and it was very overpowering while trying to eat. Soda machines and ice shoot were covered in mold, staff was less than friendly and bugs were flying around the tables. Food was stale and seemed canned. After spending $75 on lunch, I would expect much better. read more

I should have checked the reviews before eating here. The customer service was awful and not friendly. Once I received my food I went to the salsa bar where I saw several ants. The restroom had no supplies and was filthy. Lastly, they did not have the health grade that is required posted anywhere visible for customers to see. I have tried this place several times the food is OK the service sucks. To Go order are always wrong... So is ordering in but at least you can get it right if your still there.
