This spot has been around for years, and with good reason; They make some of the best fried bird in town! Of course, that is as long as you're willing to brave the line this place keeps constantly around it. Rudy's was actually renovated a few years ago, but still dishes out the same tasty crispy fried chicken, that not only the neighborhood has come to enjoy, but also people from all over; They have a special place in their hearts for Rudy's. Everything you get here, from the crispy, piping hot chicken, to the sliced bread is everything you need to feel that warm homestyle comfort food feeling. On this day we ordered several items. We had a 10PC dark meat chicken, 2 orders of fries, and a 15PC order of chicken gizzards. We ended up with a lot of food and get this, it was only $24! Compared to most fried chicken restaurants, this is an awesome price. Everything on the menu is very reasonable cost wise, and that is always a plus in my book. Now for the food review: The 10PC dark meat was obviously the star of the show here. There's no extravagant bags, no beautiful garnishes... just an honest bite of crispy, well seasoned, juicy chicken. The breading is not heavy at all, and it comes out piping hot, mostly because they are constantly busy and are cooking it up non-stop. The fries are the thinner style, which I find perfect for accompanying the meal, hot and crispy, seasoned well. The gizzards are breaded a little different, still well cooked, and seasoned well. It did have a bit more of a bite than how I prefer mine, but they were still very tasty. The small extras are sliced bread, jalapeños, and pickles. FYI: all their items are seasoned with what seems to be the same combination of spices, which there is nothing wrong with, but I know to some that might matter. Bonus: If you really want to get the full experience, take a slice of bread, lay in a few pickle slices, over that place 3 or 4 french fries, finally a nice big SKIN ON piece of thigh meat. Been in the drive thru for at least twenty minutes (and it's 330pm). Ordered five wings, geeen beans, red beans and rice, and corn fritters! (13$ even) The wings were good, however all that is different from other chicken spots is that you can taste Lawry's seasoned salt all over it. The fries were good as well. My experience was mediocre. The wait was forever long for drive-through. Roughly an hr and a half later, we got our food- a basket of 5 piece fried chicken, 5 piece tenders, and 5 piece chicken wings for $21.
