There was no other person in the restaurant but the drive through was busy. A Big NO for me sadly. Masons Seafood Review: I recently dined at Masons Chicken and Seafood with higher expectations, given its reputation within the metro. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The most attractive feature about this franchise are the inexpensive prices. But one will quickly learn that cheap (most often than not) doesn't equate to "good". The most glaring issue was the deceitful misrepresentation of swai as "catfish". It's easy to be tricked by the outside of a golden brown fillet on the side of the building and the 5.99 price tag adds to the appeal. The texture and flaking of the breading however presents a stark difference. That difference in taste and texture was immediately apparent, leaving me feeling misled and disappointed. Honestly it also left my stomach a bit upset afterwards. I also ordered the lemon pepper wings. It was a cheap menu item but was sadly old, overly seasoned chicken. You would've thought the grating lid on the shaker accidentally broke when preparing the plate. Fries were very greasy and also had slightly too much seasoning salt. In an establishment that prides itself on seafood, personally I find such lapses in quality and honesty unacceptable. I honestly hate more breading than I did Catfish in fact if you took the two Coatings of breading from the top and the bottom and put them together they were thicker than the catfish fillet. I have ordered from them as take out or delivery and their business is getting undesirable. They messed up on my order. I indicated on my order as instructed by them in the pass to order a soda but asked the to substitute it for water because I am a diabetic. They sent me a spite that I can not drink. The instructions were plain and they laughed at me over the phone when trying to get the situation corrected and then proceeded to tell me to write down in the instructions what I want to have done, (although that is what I have done) and when I asked to speak to the owner I was told that he was busy and they hung up on me. This was my first time going to a Masons. My friend has one in Arlington by her house and loves it, so we went to this new location for lunch today. At first we were the only ones there, parking lot empty. I walked in the doors and felt like I had walked into a night club with WAY to loud dance music. We couldn't even hear ourselves talk...which is crazy since we were the only ones there. I'm guessing that they are still trying to get into the swing of things being brand new. My friends both ordered the same exact meal and got charged two different amounts. I got the chicken strips and fries, they got the cheeseburger deals. Quantity wise everything was pretty big. Burgers looked huge, and I ended with more then 4 strips of chicken (definitely not complaining about that!). The fries were pretty dang good. Cooked crispy with a really good seasoning on them. Strips were ok. I had a hard time believing they were 100% cooked through with a hint of pink lingering it scared me a bit. On the big menu they charge for extra sauces, which I don't understand because the same sauce is complimentary next to the drink machine. The cashier told me that the sauces were all homemade. The ranch was very different. Almost had a pickle flavor to it. It was pretty good. But the BEST part of my meal was the honey mustard. It was Sooo sweet and soooo good. I would go back for sure to eat the fries and honey mustard! I give it two stars based on quality of food and pricing. I think it's way to high for what it is. It's not a horrible place for sure. I decided to give Masons a second chance only to have a repeat poor experience. On 4/21 at 6:24:38 I placed an order at this location. As 3 minutes, then 5 minutes, then 8 minutes, then 10 minutes roll by I hadn't received my simple order. While in line I text the number posted on their drive thru window detailing my experience. After 12 minutes I honked my horn get the attention of the employee advising her that I wanted a refund, which she wasn't able do. She stated she had to "call my boss" to issue a simple cash refund. It took 18 minutes from the moment of placing my order to finally receiving my refund. After texting the suggestion line, whoever is in charge of customer experience texted that it takes 7 minutes for the order to be completed, something I was already aware of, even telling the employee just that same thing before she reached out to her "boss". I asked the employee the name of her boss to which she replied Ahn. I asked her what is the first and last name, to which she replied that she didn't know. My experience was deplorable!!! In the response from whoever manages their suggestion line, I was advised to "call ahead, the order will be ready when you come." I don't understand how Mason's can have the audacity to ask for future business after handling this so poorly. 1, train your associates to advise of food lead times and/or come back to the patron explain the wait, that is just good customer service. 2, empower the associates to give refunds up to a certain dollar amount. 3, realize the first thing management should do when something like this happens is to apologize for the experience, not ask for further patronage. read more

Great little place. From the outside it looks like a fast food place, which is understandable because the building used to be a MacDonalds. When you get inside, it's not really a fast food place, but it's doesn't fit into any other niche either. Most of it's business does seem to be takeout, but a lot of what they make isn't really practical for a drive through, even though they have one. Whatever you call it, it's a really nice place. I generally go for the catfish. You can get two fried catfish fillets with fries for $4.99. The fillets are large, they are breaded and fried to order, and they are delicious. The fries are standard frozen crinkle cut fries. The grilled catfish plate has one fillet with choice of sides, I generally get the dirty rice. I prefer the grilled plate, but then I prefer grilled catfish to fried catfish, even if it's very good fried catfish. The dirty rice is excellent as well. Never tried the chicken, and it's kind of interesting that a restaurant that has chicken so prominently figured in it's name has so little chicken on it's menu. When I've been there, most people seem to be ordering catfish or pork chops. As for the ambiance, this used to be a MacDonalds. It doesn't have any ambiance. They generally have music playing, and it's generally a bit too loud.Since I always get food to go here, it doesn't bother me in the least. This email is in reference to the service received at the DeSoto location at the corner of Hampton and Dalton. This is the second time I have visited this location and had to wait 30 plus minutes to receive to receive my order. The customer service is horrible. When you enter into the drive thru, you are sitting at the speaker for a few minutes before you are acknowledged. Then when something is said to you, there is major attitude. The young girl on the speaker doesn't speak clearly nor does she show a willingness to do what she's being paid to do. Both times I was not quoted a price I was only told to pull up. Then when you get to the window, you are sitting there for another couple of minutes before the window is opened and you are acknowledged. After your payment is received, the window is closed and you are sitting there again. I sat at the window both of visits no less than 10 minutes before the window was opened and I was told to park up front. Another 20 plus minutes go by, and I am watching the people who placed order after me receive their food, before my order is brought to me by a young man with sagging pants and looking as thought he was high. I don't enter the store due to my child was sleep and because I was irritated. I have never seen a supervisor at this location, never. Two of my good friends that live in DeSoto will not visit this location for to the same behavior. I love about 10 minutes away from this location and when I arrived home my food, the food I had been waiting on for more than 30 minutes was cold. All I order was the 6 catfish nugget special. I feel as though, I have thrown my money away. The wings are cut in two, you get the bony wing tip and the meaty part separately. So if you order a dozen wings you are basically getting six. Would be okay if the wings were not so tiny.
