There were more tacos, but I forgot I was going to do a review and ate more than a few before I remembered to snap a picture.

Ambiance: great traditional Mexican restaurant vibe. It's a cozy place to have a meal with a great staff working the counter and kitchen. Service: employees are friendly and helpful with recommendations. I never felt like a bother talking to them or asking for anything. The food wait was not long and an employee checked twice to make sure we were doing okay and ask if we needed anything. Food: the food was GREAT. But let me tell you something first. Their al pastor and carne asada are what they do really well. I like whatever meal I order with those meats. The tacos are great, super burritos are huge, and the carne asada fries have thick fries. The toppings are generous, and taste was great!

What a wonderful family owned restaurant! Fernanda was incredibly welcoming, very friendly and provided marvelous customer service! I ordered the 2 item platter with a crispy shredded chicken taco, pork tamales with tomatillo sauce , Spanish rice and refried beans. Everything was absolutely delicious! The masa in the tamale was not heavy and the tamales had alot of meat. The chicken taco was full of yummy shredded chicken. The chips and salsa bar had an assortment of salsas. Definitely worth repeated visits !

One of my family's favorite mexican spot. Finally got to try it out. Salsas are on point, chips are fresh. Enchiladas are wow! Red sauce is mole, green sauce has a bit of spice. Will be back for more!

I ordered a chicken quesadilla over the phone. What is this? And the receipt said enchilada.

The taking of orders properly could be improved. There's always something wrong when I pick up food for my wife. Maybe I should mention that I am not a big fan of Mexican food but this looked like a good place. I only like beef fajitas natcho chips and quesadillas, so when you give me the wrong order I am not happy. It was not a good taste. But the free chips bar is great.

Out of all the family-owned and operated Mexican establishments in the Rocklin area, I would have to rate "Rudy's Mexican Gourmet" as being one of the better places I have been to. And for those that live here, it is a nice alternative if you don't wish to drive to Sacramento for that amazing authentic flavor. Located in a quiet strip mall directly on Stanford Ranch Road and adjacent to Sunset Blvd. in the heart of Rocklin, Rudy's has been around for quite awhile; since the mid 2000's. Since I have not eaten here in many, many years, I figure why not pay a visit to see if they were as good as I remember. I came here on the afternoon of Saturday 9/19/2020 at around 3:00pm. During my visit, all indoor dining was closed off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they do offer generous outdoor seating. The hours are fairly standard as they are open for the most part from 10am-9pm. I ended up going the simple route by ordering 3 delicious street tacos with Carne Asada as my protein of choice. They were priced at around $8 for the trio and chips/salsa were complimentary upon my dine-in. I also ordered an iced cold Horchata to wash it down with. Since they had waiter service, they brought my tacos out in less than five minutes. Overall, the food here is very tasty while the salsa they used on the tacos was delicious. They were fairly generous with the amount of meat they used in these as all 3 of the street tacos filled me up quite well. It is nice that Rocklin has a family Mexican restaurant that can rival some of the bigger cities with way more options to choose from. All in all, our service was outstanding while prices were a little on the higher end of the spectrum. But the overall quality of the food was as good as I remember while they were generous with their options. After factoring in everything, "Rudy's Mexican Gourmet" was a good above average restaurant. My rating, four stars.

Food was amazing, so much flavor and the place has great service! Delicious free salsa bar and a broad menu full of so many good options. Get the Al Pastor you won't regret it.

Located off of Stanford Ranch Road in Rocklin, between Starbucks Drive-Thru and 7-Eleven, is Rudy's Mexican Gourmet Restaurant! A girlfriend of mine recommended Rudy's as she is from San Diego and raved about how good this place has the best Mexican Food in the area. I was craving some late night street tacos and luckily, Rudy's was still open for takeout until 9:00PM on a Saturday during the pandemic. You can conveniently order online through their website and food will be ready within 10-15 minutes. I ordered the CARNE ASADA and AL PASTOR STREET TACOS. The ingredients were extremely fresh, especially for being almost closed for the evening. Each order included a side of sliced limes and radishes. This place definitely hits the spot for your late night craving for Mexican food or just something fresh and flavorful. I saw that they had a CHILE RELLANO on their menu and cannot wait to return to try it! Restaurant is extremely clean. Service is friendly. FOOD IS AMAZEBALLS!!!

The food is fresh and definitely "home made" style. All the dishes my family ordered were delicious, generously portioned and served with kindness and grace that you don't find anymore. The atmosphere is very nice with ample indoor and outdoor seating. The chicken tortilla soup is fantastic. The service is fast yet friendly.

Their idea of an "enchilada" ... yuck

Wow, this place is awful. The employee was fine, but the food is horrible. Decided to stray from my usuals and try this place out, but that was a huge mistake. This is their idea of an enchilada....? I couldn't even eat it.... It was so bad. Never again. Waste of money. Nobody that ate the food felt well after.

Good food and service, my one complaint was that all the food came in stages, the first 3 meals came somewhat fast and hot. But our 4 person waited till we were almost done before they gave him his... there was 1 other party in there after us.. it looks like a very nice family run restaurant. The salsa bar was great as well, watch out some salsa are super super hot, but everything was great, food service and hospitality.

Service was friendly but a little on the slow side, although our food came out fairly quickly after we ordered. I got the super burrito and it was huge. Stuffed full of all the good stuff and grilled on one side. Simple but good, although it could have had the ingredients better mixed inside. (Ever read the hilarious blog post about the burrito that was rolled like a roll of Lifesavers? Oh, here's the rice. Next up, pico. Then beans. And here's the chicken. There is guac in here!) The hubby got the cheese chile relleno with mole, beans and a pyramid of rice. All delicious. Oh, and the chips were delightfully crispy and seemed super fresh and the two salsas were pretty tasty, as well. Prices were very fair, too! Good rec by our friends. I'd definitely go back, maybe for pick-up.

We talked to our friends and agreed that 6pm would be a good time to meet for dinner. My girlfriend called and they didnt' have any reservations available for 6pm.I called around Noon to see if we talked to someone else we could make a reservation at 6pm. They were very polite over the phone. The didn't have any reservations at 6pm, but they had a table for 4 at 6:30 pm if we didn't mind sitting outside. I took the reservation with the hopes we could get seated earlier. Their outside and inside dining rooms are about the same size. We arrived at 6pm hoping to get seated early and by 6:05pm the entire party was here and we were seated 10 minutes later at 6:15pm. We were seated a the first table out the side door against the wall. This worked great at I was able to put my package on the grown next to the wall, it was out of the way, but I could still see it so I didn't forget it. The fans were on over all the outside tables but ours. It was cool/warm enough to be comfortable in slacks and a T-shirt. No sweater was needed and I wasn't sweating either. The ice water was really nice. Soon as we were seated they laid us out menus. Shortly after chips, salsa, and bean dip were delivered. Then after a little bit the waters arrived. Our server asked for our drink orders while we looked at the menus. I ordered the Chile Relleno: Battered poblano chile stuffed with Jack cheese and red chile pork sitting atop black bean puree and serrano salsa. Topped with slaw and queso cotija. It was very tasty, but lacked cheese. I did not enjoy melty jack cheese oozing out of the pepper and that's the whole reason I ordered this dish. Tower Cafe in Sacramento makes it right. Their Chile oozes with melty jack cheese. The black bean purée must have melded into the Salas as I didn't see or taste it. It was topped with slaw that I enjoyed. It gave the dish a little crunchy. The red chili pork was very tender and I didn't notice any fat. I would not order this again My husband had the Salmon Machamantel Atlantic salmon, mole manchamantel, grilled broccolini, jicama slaw. I found the salmon to be very pleasant. It didn't taste fishy at all and I'm very sensitive to fish. The Mole sauce was non descriptive. The broccolini was cooked to perfection, not too cooked that it was limp and not undercooked so it's too firm. He would order it again. Cilantro Rice- All the meals came with the rice and it was very tasty. It was kind of odd that it was on a separate plate, but it made sense as there wan't room on our dinner plates. Presentation was lacking. We shared the Caesar Salad. It was very tasty, but awkward to eat as the pieces of lettuce were huge. They served us the entire leaf. Bathrooms- It was a small bathroom with only two stalls. If you need to wait it would be better to wait outside like I did. It was a bit awkward. The bathroom was well supplied and pretty clean. Flushing is an issue. The toilet doesn't have a lot of flushing power and it took my 3 flushes to get the seat covers to go down and not leave debris. Parking: We parked near Pet Food Express, which was close to the restaurant. It looked tight, but after we drove around we found lots of spots at the back of the lot. There is no close parking spots so if you have a hard time walking this can be an issue. Their downfall, the flies. There were so many flies swarming us that it was uncomfortable. I hope the other patrons were't dealing with the gigantic flies that were swarming our table and landing on our table and food. I searched other reviews and I'm not the only one who was swarmed by flies. Ambiance. It was ok, the music was loud and it was hard to hear each other as we chatted and caught up. I think there is more ambiance inside with the decor.

I used it and the salsa to flavor the black beans. However, I really just wanted grilled steak. I should have ordered steak fajitas, a grilled steak burrito or quesadilla, or a carne asada plate. The Steak a la Chicana was a generous portion, which is definitely 2 meals for me. Cilantro rice wasn't anything special. The SWEET CORN TAMALITO is yummy comfort.
