I was honestly disappointed with this restaurant after reading all the good reviews. I highly recommend coming early as it is a small parking lot otherwise you'll have to find street parking. It's a quaint little restaurant with a small menu as its fresh farm to table. For appetizers we got the burrata, calamari, and octopus. The burrata on the toasted bread was tasty. The calamari paired great with the sweet sauce. The octopus was very tender. Why I was disappointed it was because of my entree the boullibase. I had 3 shrimp, 3 clams, and 7 mussels although 3 of them did not open so I could not eat them. In the picture it looks like a big mountain of seafood but that is because there are 4 potatoes underneath. I would have loved to sop up the seafood broth with bread but they only give you one piece of bread. I wish they gave more bread instead of potatoes. That dish was not worth $40 in my opinion.

Outrageous ! What pride in ownership, service, and quality. Loved our date night @ Rue561and can't wait to go back. Started with the beet salad w ricotta.... super plentiful, earthy and light. Next up 45 day dry, aged pat LaFrieda (YUM) bone in ribeyes. Perfectly cooked as ordered medium rare. Great nutty flavor with a head of garlic confit. The side of Brussels was off the chain with incredible smokey porkbelly (smokey beyond belief) and a crisp sweet taste to the Brussels Lastly a gelato and berries that were a perfect night cap for only $9. Prices were very fair and byob....Loved it and will be back asap

We've been around the area owning for 17 years now. Trying all of the restaurants locally. While we have some fans, Seaside and Tom's River aren't really known for amazing steak. Rue 561 was an awesome choice. We read the reviews and they are spot on. We ordered the Octopus and Chorizo, Steakhouse Bacon and Tomahawk Steak for 2 with Truffle Mac n Cheese. Oooooh, Mmmm Geeeee! Soooo delicious, all of it. And Frank, the owner, Chris ,our waiter, made the experience so much more. The Steak was off the charts great. Frank explained that he has 45 day aged beef from Pat LA Frieda. This is why this Steak was so amazing. We will definitely be back.

We had to try Rue 561 after reading these great reviews and it did not disappoint. I thought the menu was somewhat limited but everything was fantastic and they also had a few specials. I had very low expectations for the wedge salad because it's just a wedge salad not this one was sooooo good with fried shallots and bacon. We also had the octopus/chorizo appy, airline chicken, and pork chop entree. Fresh baked churros for dessert. Another plus: it's byob. I made a resy about two weeks before. Service was good, but they were down a person. The owner was clearing tables and very friendly....

Nice quaint place. Clean and well decorated. Great attentive staff. Nice menu selection with daily specials. The Brussels sprouts are excellent with just the right amount of bacon for flavoring. The truffle Mac and cheese is moist, with perfectly cooked macaroni, plentiful amount of cheese and nicely garlic & truffle flavored. The 18oz bone in Prime Rib Eye was to dye for. Perfect salt & pepper seasoning, cooked medium rare correctly, moist and tender. The Panna Cotta dessert was a first for my wife & I. We where pleasantly surprised at the presentation and the exquisite taste. You must try this tasty dish. Finished with the perfect cappuccino Chris our waiter was excellent.

A very enjoyable meal indeed. First of all. BYOB. Then the menu. Not extensive but something for everyone. Special tonight 48oz Tomahawk. Yea no need for a meat coma. Plenty of apps To pick from. I ordered and enjoyed the octopus. Very good and a little bite. Wife got the salmon. She enjoyed how it was cooked. (Still a little pink) I got the pork chop. Two bones thick. Quite tender too. We shall return.

Food was excellent! Service was good. Would definitely return. Only thing we found a bit odd is there's no hostess station or waiting area and that was a bit uncomfortable but the food more than made up for it! Our first visit was on a holiday (Valentine's Day) so I'll reserve my opinion of the service for a return visit on a less hectic evening. Definitely want to go back!

How are their prices? I'm Leary of places with no pricing on the menu.

Prices are high, i think they do not show the prices on line as it is hard to justify them. one example is Calamari for 26 dollars.

I perused the menu while waiting for my friends. To my delight, this place is MUCH larger than Manahawkin. There are at least three rooms. Regardless, by the time we left, it was very busy. reservations are highly recommended. When my friends arrived, our waitress reviewed the menu additions. We decided on the oysters, octopus, arugula salad and the cod special. Everything was excellent. Service and pace were perfect. Plates promptly cleared, bread replentished. We shared a tiramisu and I had a double expresso. We will definitely return. I will take some photos on my next visit.

The dining room is boisterous and lively, making it a great environment where both families and adult parties seemed to be having a wonderful time. For drinks and appetizers, I started with a lychee martini and ordered the crab cake appetizer as my entree. While the flavor was good, I've honestly had better crab cakes elsewhere. My fiancé ordered the surf and turf, which was perfectly prepared. The real stars of the meal, though, were the sides and dessert. We ordered the roasted brussels sprouts and the baked mac and cheese, and we both absolutely LOVED our sides. To wrap up the night, we dived into the peach cobbler special--it was incredible, and I would easily go back just for that! I started with French onion soup which was sooooo salty. Flavor strong but salty. My Partner got the crab cake. They did enjoy that. So I got the main entree of filet tip carbonara. The meat was cooked well which I was okay with but should have been medium well. The pasta sauce again saltier than would like. I guess this is why there is no salt and peppers shakers on the table lol. My Partner got the skirt steak and fries. Again he enjoyed both but prefers his own marinade. Bottom line this place is more than your average place cost wise. Knowing how to cook and get a piece of filet mignon for $14.00 at ShopRite and a skirt steak for $25 at best and do it yourself doesn't justify the cost. The atmosphere was ok little dark, we did get a nice corner table. Otherwise tight seating. Our server was super polite and gracious for our tip. So overall if you have money to spend on okay food you won't be disappointed. Would I come back? no.

Not only does the food taste truthfully out of this world, but you will also find that the service is incredible! From the moment you walk inside, you are met with a ton of friendly faces who without a doubt will treat you just like family. They are incredibly kind people who put hard effort into making sure that each meal is prepared with care, and that each person feels safe and comfortable under their roof. I must also comment that I myself am a very picky eater with odd sensory difficulties. It is typically very difficult for me to find many foods or meals that I feel are safe to eat, and that don't trigger any sort of reluctance. However at Thymes, they offer a wide variety of different meals and desserts, so locating something that I felt was both appetizing and safe to eat was no problem at all. I've been a proud frequent flier for the past 3 years, and without a doubt intend to keep going back as much as possible before I go off to college next year. To say that I will genuinely miss Thymes and more so the generous souls that have always been there for me is an understatement. More than five stars if I could. Keep up the amazing work.

Good food only goes so far when the customer service makes you not want to return. After our most recent experience, I even sent the owner a private message directly rather than immediately posting a negative review, giving them an opportunity to respond or at least acknowledge the issue. I never received a response. That was really the final straw for me. Mistakes happen and service can have an off day, but completely ignoring a customer who reaches out directly says a lot. There are too many places in the area with both good food and good service. We won't be back.

Last weekend my wife and I decided to visit the Howell location. I guess lightening doesn't strike twice, sadly. We used the app to reserve our space and notified the hostess upon arriving. We ordered our drinks and were asked what type of free app we'd like. We opted for the boneless chicken wings. Then for entrees my wife and I both ordered sirloins, i opted for the combo with ribs, she got the steak by itself. We both asked for them to be cooked medium. Her steak was grey (well-done) mine was perfect. I cut mine in 1/2 and gave it to her. I ate a piece of my steak which was very nice. Then i cut into my ribs which turned out to be the driest ribs i've ever eaten. I literally had to grab my drink out of fear of choking (I'm not exaggerating). I've heard too many stories as to why you never send food back, so we opted to hold onto what we had. Sitting next to us was an older couple. They both ordered steak, the lady returned her steak as it was overcooked as well. By the time they brought her a new steak, her husbands steak was cold. But recently I came here and ordered a bowl of chili with a side salad and I asked for crispy chicken on top thinking that was doable. The server charged me for an $11 meal JUST for the chicken!!! Had I known that I wouldn't have ordered it. Clearly if I want a side of something I'm not looking to pay $11 for it. I think it's crazy the server didn't think to mention that. And then for things like chili every server asks "did you want any toppings" but they never mention each topping is like an extra $1 each. I'm much wiser about it now since I've been plenty of times but it's things like that I find really sneaky, be upfront about it with people if it's that much of an extra cost. It cost more than my actual side salad.
