The Rug Design Center is the only place I would take my rugs for repair or cleaning. I purchased my original Turkish rugs 20 years ago by Rug Design Center and they still are in perfect shape. I recently came across a 75 year old rug that the fringe was not tied and it was falling apart. It also had white spots everywhere on the rug that you can't see in the picture that were threads showing through. The owner, Abbey, is amazing. He had my rug re-tied by hand and dyed all the little dots in the rug to make the thing look like brand new. The price was very fair and now it will last another 75 years. This place is a joke. The rugs looked like Chinese knockoffs that were made to look like Persians. When asked to see Persians the help became belligerent and very defensive. I own several silk Qum Persians and Afghans and saw none that came close to mine at this place. Tell tell sign is is the feel and the signature on the rug, none there had it. Maybe they had one, but when I asked to see it all I received was rude behavior. Obviously he was trying to hide something. BEWARE there are a lot of fakes. read more

I paid $1750 to Abbey Larijani as half of payment for 3 area rugs. All I received was a paper image of colors, which were not in accord with what I had chosen from his "sampler" rug. That was on February 25, 2020. Now, June 8, after the few calls he answered, his last words were to be patient in view of Covid-19 pandemic and that the looms in Turkey were ready to weave. If they're going to weave rugs from colors I haven't authorized, I want a refund, minus a fee I'd make to him for his time in taking measurements. Mr. Larijani was not forthcoming. I hesitantly brought my Navajo rug purchased in Santa Fe here to have a hole repaired. I say hesitantly because I decided to try out this business on gut feeling. While the estimate was a bit pricey, I had already spent quite a bit to purchase this unusual rug 15 years ago and wanted to keep it at least another 15 years. On recommendation, the rug design center washed it, matched the teal wool and wove the repair, removed the fringes (which were always getting caught in the vacuum) and bound the sides of the rug which previously spotted the fringe. Several tiny holes which were just starting were also repaired expertly. While it took longer than originally promised, and I had to move out of the area during this time, the rug design center was prompt in replying to my requests for status updates and expertly packed and shipped the rug to me - at no charge because of the unexpected delay. The rug looks brand new - everything was repaired to perfection. Totally worth the cost. I definitely recommend this establishment for rug repair and renewal!! More recently, I sought Abbey out for advice on what to do with a well worn and treasured antique Persian rug that has been in my family for about 75 years.
