I was gifted two beautiful Persian rugs that had layers of dirt, dog hair, and other signs of wear and tear. Both rugs had ripped or detached fringe. I called multiple rug cleaners to get quotes and spoke with Kash (the son). He encouraged me to visit their store and see how the rugs would be cleaned and repaired. Kash was incredibly kind and patient. He took the time to educate me about my new rugs, as well as teach me about the industry! He gave me a tour of the store and showed me the process my rugs would go through. He quoted me a reasonable price similar to what I had been quoted over the phone by other companies. Yet, he and his father, went above and beyond to work with my budget! Dr. Kay even gifted me a bottle of olive oil when he learned I was an educator like himself! The family are all so kind and generous! Both of my rugs were washed twice due to the dirt and had fringe reattached. I am so pleased with how my rugs look and feel now. I brought a beautiful hand made Moroccan rug in that has seen better days. Dr. Kay, his son Kash and their awesome crew made it look better than new. Had two great experiences here. It is a family owned business and still retains that feeling of stopping by someplace in a small town where everyone is treated with friendliness, respect, and care for your belongings. They did a beautiful fringe repair on a rug that was gifted to me, removed a new pet urine stain, gave a realistic expectation on another possibly years old wine stain (most of it came out!), and gave me an idea of the rug's history, pattern source, and worth. It was the closest thing to having the rug talk (I would have asked about the wine party). It wasn't a super fancy or expensive rug, but it turned out it was good quality wool and I was happy to have it cleaned well. It made it feel kind of heirloom and that I was taking care of something rather than being part of disposable culture. I liked that. They also showed me around the facility as a first time visitor and it was fun to see how the rugs are cleaned. The second time I really had a hard time picking up the rug because I had to leave town unexpectedly for a long time to care for an ill relative. I bought an antique rug (over a hundred years old) for very cheap because it was in bad condition. I took it here to get cleaned, de-mothed, and color corrected. The salesperson there talked my ear off for almost 45 minutes, trying to upsell services for the rug. I refused a lot of the upsells, trying to explain that even if I spent $700 cleaning and restoring the rug it will never be worth much more than the $150 I paid for it. It was threadbare in a bunch of spots and had splotchy colors. I still somehow signed on for a "discounted" price of $450, and left feeling like I had been swindled. I justified it to myself, saying that at least I'll have a clean and color corrected rug for my house in the style I had wanted for so long. When I came to pick up the rug, it looked DIRTIER than I left it! This is because the stains lifted from some areas and not others. I flipped out, so they agreed to work on it again and try to get the colors more even. When I came back the work was definitely more in line with my expectations, but I do feel the need to write this review because I resent the way the salesman kept trying to take me for a ride and gaslight me. I've been buying and selling antiques on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace as a hobby for 15 years. I know what people will pay for things. The salesperson could not get it through his head that I didn't want to invest more money into the rug than I could resell it for. He kept telling me, "this rug is worth $5000." I have seen multiple of these rugs in the same style and size online, in far superior condition, for $600. The work (after I demanded it be redone) was acceptable, but the slimy and disingenuous salesmanship is enough to keep me away from this place in the future. read more

Kash is truly an expert! I picked up this Restoration Hardware rug from a neighbor for free and it was in super bad shape. Pet stains, snags, dust, smelly, just overall really nasty shape. I learned about Rug Ideas by stumbling across their Instagram account. I was immediately hooked by the videos of their cleaning process. This is a very professional and state-of-the-art outfit. I worked directly with Kash, who is either the son or the grandson of Dr K, the owner/founder. Kash is very easy to deal with and is always upbeat. He thoroughly explains everything. The job was a little more expensive and time-consuming than I expected, but I always felt like I was in good hands and the results are worth the cost and wait. This review is about 5 months late, but better late than never. We brought our Grevy Zebra rug to be repaired. Several years ago, our then puppy destroyed much of the rug badly. I was thinking of throwing it out, thinking it was beyond repair. But my non-existent psychic powers told me to keep it and try getting it fixed. I had the same excellent experience as all the other reviewers: Kash and Dr Kay are knowledgeable, friendly, passionate and do outstanding work. I'd like to add praise for the education they gave me. I inherited two fine old rugs from my family: a long Persian runner and a large rectangular Navajo rug. Dr. Kay was able to tell me not only that the rugs were very high quality and from the early 1920s (which I knew), but he added some history. The runner is Kurdish in origin, and extremely rare because of its long length (17 feet). The Kurds have been so oppressed and harrassed for so long that they normally don't have time to complete a rug that long. It's too big a commitment. I was humbled to learn this. Dr. Kay elevated my appreciation of the rug and increased my knowledge of world history. And he did it with warmth and kindness. Rug Ideas is absolutely the very best. read more

I brought cream colored Moroccan rugs back to this company after they did such an outstanding job on resizing and cleaning another rug from Morocco. The rugs were long-overdue for cleaning and unfortunately, the puppy did a number on all of them! Kash and his team couldn't be more professional and understanding with my request to not walk on the rugs as I had a prior experience with another company who returned a white runner with a huge footprint! Approximately 3 weeks later, the rugs were ready, smelled and looked brand new - which I did not expect - with all puppy stains gone!! Within 10 days of moving into our new home with all new furnishings, my dog got muddy paw prints on a knotted wool rug and knocked over my coffee mug on my new 50/50 wool & viscose, tufted rug! I tried the old mild soap and water trick, but that only made it worse. Baking soda turned the stains brown! Panicked, I asked for a quote from 2 rug cleaners i got from neighbors on the NextDoor app. Rug Ideas was not one of them, but I got a bunch of quotes, had them out for estimates, and went with them, mostly because Duncan and Justin instilled the most confidence. First time I ever relied on a Yelp auto-generated quote suggestion. Yelpers do not disappoint! Dr. Kay realized how critical it was to our family and asked his team to help us out - they assessed and took the rugs on Labor Day weekend, even though they were closed! The rugs were at their facility a little more than 2 weeks. Duncan and Justin placed them back under all of the furniture. The stains were gone! Lovely place! I dropped off an old vintage rug my mother gave me that was very dirty and had moth damage. They cleaned it up beautifully and did a moth treatment to kill any possible larva. After reading all the stellar reviews, I called and talked to Dr. K, took a couple of rugs down on a Saturday and he went through the process of what would happen to the rug and promised that when we got it back it would be "Like New", I called about a month after we dropped the rugs off and was told they were still working on them, I called about a month later and they were still working on them, I called the next week and was told that they would be done by Friday, I waited another week and went down on a Saturday to pick up our rugs, They were done and ready to pick up, as the larger rug was unrolled my wife and I were speechless, not because the rug looked new, but because there were still very visible stains on the rug. We had been promised a "Like New" rug and what was delivered was far from it. There were still stains on the rug and the blues and reds are less vibrant than they were before the cleaning. Perhaps the rug was too dirty, perhaps the stains were too set, whatever the reason , the results were not what my wife and I expected. After standing and looking at the rug for what seemed like hours but was probably less than 5 minutes, Mark spoke up and explained that he and Kash had washed the rug 3 times and that you can only attempt to clean them so much before you risk damaging the fibers, OK, that is understandable, but it seems to me that if you are rug cleaning/restoration experts, you should be able to look at a rug before you begin cleaning it and determine that this rug is too far gone or the stains are too set and we don't feel that all these stains are going to come out, and let the customer know they need to lower their expectations or give them the option to not have the rug cleaned. Especially after the second or third cleaning, let the customer know the rug is ready but did not come out like we/you expected, each time I called, I only told that it was still being worked on, never was I told that it was not going to be completely cleaned. I do think that Kash and Mark did the best job that they could but I also believe that Dr. K, was overly optimistic about the outcome. I seriously doubt that I would use them again, and if I did I would only opt for the cleaning and not the rug pad, which what not what we was expecting or described and seemed over priced for what was delivered., I also wouldn't get the scotch guard treatment either until after I was happy with the results of the cleaning. read more

Finally the real thing - first class knowledgeable rug cleaning by those who care. Dr K and son Cash run a wonderful family business. They took my sun faded handmade 30-40 year old Turkish rug and made it come alive again. It still looks antique but with beautiful rich colors that were hand restored by Cash, in the photo he's holding a cloth of all the color mixings he did to get it just right. Literally one half of the rug was completely washed out from being under my huge living room skylight, and the other half was unfaded because a long sofa was on it and the rest was in the shade. They also added a UV protector to the rug. Duncan and Justin did a good job on delivery and pickup, taking the time to lay the rugs just right (I also got excellent pads that don't slip, unlike those awful useless ones from Bed Bath and Beyond.
