This review is way overdue, about a year to be exact, and I'm glad I can finally give Rug Ideas a review from me that they deserve. At the beginning of quarantine, I found a Chinese rug on Craigslist. So I called Rug Ideas to get a quote for the cleaning before I bought it. Dr. Kay asked me to send him the link for the rug on Craigslist, to see if it was even worth checking out. He assured me that the rug was good quality, and even told me what price I should ask for- which was extremely helpful. I got to buy the rug for lower than the asking price. Dropping off my rug for clean up was extremely easy. Social distancing was maintained and everyone had on masks. When I was at the store I was helped by Kash, one of Dr. Kay's sons. He unloaded my rug from my car for me and explained the cleaning process of what my rug would go through. He also suggested a few things to add for extra cleaning/ protection without being pushy at all. Both Dr. Kay and Kash were great on educating me about my rug and it's cleaning, I felt like I was at a field trip. It was extremely educational, and I really appreciate them answering all my questions. Pick- up for my rug was also such a breeze. I even took several months to pick up my rug and they didn't give me a hard time about it. They loaded my rug onto my trunk for me, and even gave me a hand sanitizer! I'll definitely be getting my rug cleaned with them again soon for maintenance, I wouldn't trust anyone else! read more

Mark Holguin provided prompt and efficient service. He and his assistants moved furniture and removed four of our Oriental Rugs that were in need of cleaning (dog and cat). In a few weeks they were all back better than ever. When I say better than ever, I mean restored to their color and no stains. Walking barefoot on them gives you the feeling of new fresh carpets. (Trust me they are all over 30-40 years old and walked regularly.) When they say they can restore something, believe. We have had several companies over the years do so called cleaning. Lets start with the negative first. I did a yelp search to find a place that would clean my 5x8 area rug. I was willing to have someone come in my home to clean being that I wanted it done pronto. Rug Ideas is a place that can pick up your rug for a cost, or you bring it in. Before I brought it in, I called to get a quote. Dr K answered. I explained I just needed a 5x8 rug cleaned. Nothing more. He explained the process, they're treated with enzymes, no chemicals and hand washed. He said they were running a "special. Normally $173.00, it's now $138.00. Done! Now I get to his warehouse and meet him. He shows me the floor and how they clean the rugs, with the machines they use etc. Pretty impressive. He inspects my rug and says "its been very neglected". Uhm ok (even though I've had it cleaned in the past) He says "$169.00 is your price" I said to him "that is not what you quoted me on the phone. You gave me a different price and I oversized my rug in the call. Why would you up sell me on the cost?" He said "well, that is dependent on the condition of your rug when i see it in person" Why wasn't this stated over the phone? Keep in mind: there are no stains on it, no holes, nothing that needs to be sewn back together, nor do we wear shoes in our house. It just needed a good cleaning and nothing more. I drove 40 min in traffic to get to there and I wasn't in the mood to debate with him. I needed to check this off my to do list. My fellow organized people feel me on this. He took my credit card, said 2-3 weeks it would be done. I called them on week #4 asking for the status on my rug. It was done. Was it worth the money? Sure. It definitely needed the deep cleaning. Would I recommend him? Sure, but I would say proceed with caution. I knocked 2 stars of for dishonesty. I'd give 5 stars for the work performed. My rug does look very nice! **RESPONSE TO RUG IDEAS** 9/23/20 Thank you for the prompt response. I attached a "before" picture. Where exactly is this rug... "Dusty, dirty, stained and was in very bad condition"?. I had no idea that I signed off on that. Where is my copy of that agreement? Right. In your possession. That is very deceitful and again validates my point of you being dishonest. Where was the 30% off? If you quoted me your highest price point of $173.00, then that would take us to $121.10. I paid $169.00. There was no "special" given, there was zero mention of price dependent on condition and you slipping that verbiage in the agreement is trickery at it's best. Repeat VERY happy customer - second time using Rug Ideas - first time had a torn zebra rug repaired, cleaned and remounted to a new felt backing - came back brand new! This time a bit more complicated - had a small area rug that was "patchwork/quilt" created by sewing together a number of small hides. It needed massive work, remounting and desperate cleaning. I truly can't rave enough about my experience. I have a black shag rug I've had for a few years and needed it washed. I don't own any pets but my best friends dog has had his share of fun on my rug. I contacted them via Instagram (they literally post the best videos) and instantly received not only a response but a quote. I had a million questions and took me a few weeks before everything was finalized but they were so sweet and patient with me. I wouldn't have been sweet and patient with me....with all the back and forth but it truly is a testimony to their customer service and professionalism. I gave them the wrong measurements of my rug originally so when they came to pick it up they informed me and made the price change process very easy (it was my fault for not giving them accurate measurements). I was in a hurry so I got my rug back in 7 business days!!! MIND BLOWN! But what made the process even more enjoyable was Duncan and Justin. Such sweet men, they were so nice! They had their own shoe coverings that they put on when they came to pick up and drop off my rug( big deal for those of us with OCD tendencies LOL) and the day they came the elevator in my building was broken. I found Rug Ideas via a local Facebook group and was told they are the "rug cleaners to the stars," equipped to handle "the finest, most expensive Persian rugs." I had a very expensive antique rug that I was hoping to get fixed. Not only had my dog left surprises on it, but there were also several tears and a lot of fading. I just wanted someone I could trust enough to clean it without causing further damage. When I did get in touch with Mark, I knew I had found the place to take my rug. (Having a large dog has taught me a lot about textiles and cleaning methods, so I can often tell in a few messages which businesses are not knowledgeable enough to handle a special job.) I ended up dropping off the rug myself since it was during the holidays. Dr. Kay and Mark were so gracious; they laid out the rug, took photos/measurements, and went over the plan with me. They were confident they would not only be able to clean the rug, but repair and restore it as well. They even gave me a tour of the shop to show me what my rug would be going through. When the rug was ready a couple weeks later, I was highly satisfied. It looked stunning! The customer service was also wonderful, all the way until the end. There was miscommunication in my house about where the rug was going, so the guys left the rug rolled up when it was delivered. Confused, I called Mark; he had the guys come back to lay the rug out despite the miscommunication being entirely my fault. Very kind of them to do that. My dog is sad he can't go near the rug anymore, but the rug is very happy and so are we. It is a gorgeous piece that needed the love and care Rug Ideas provided. Well...the Team here cares more about your rug than you do, trust me :) You walk in and you see a clean and organized facility; nothing to hide, they will walk you through the place, the process and will show you their passion, their care and their love for their job. This is what you hope to see in any business that deals with things you care. If these guys were jewelers, you would feel just as confident with how they'd handle those too! The process was clearly explained, quoted and suggestions were offered but not pushed on us as a matter of "selling us stuff" but as a way to educate us about our choices. Our need was not only cleaning, as they had to do some restoration too, and they explained that process too and the outcome was honestly even better than we expected. They recommended care and maintenance, helped us with giving us a schedule and a process for the next few months/years. And told us how to deal with small incidents ourselves, without trying to sell us on anything. BTW - while they were cleaning my rug I had an issue with the upholstery on my car and had them take a look at it and they gave me the right suggestion for what to do without pretending "they could figure it out" and showing the same respect for the people who clean my car and their expertise. Remarkably personable, accurate and nice, I will be certainly referring people to them and will come back for any and all of my rug cleaning needs, NO BRAINER. I don't know what I was thinking buying a white rug when I have two dogs. Of course it got dirty despite my no shoe policy and efforts to keep the dogs clean. What A Rip Off !!!! I had 9 rugs cleaned recently. Some of them were large, antique Persian rugs total cleaning cost $2,617.00 It took 6 weeks for the rugs to be returned to my house. After waiting three weeks I called three times to check on the progress of my rugs, I was told someone would check on my rugs and get back to me, NO ONE returned my calls. The fourth time I called I had to get angry and insist my rugs be returned. But what UPSETS me the most : I paid $949.00 for "Custom" padding for four of the rugs. The padding is NOT custom at all. What was installed under my rugs was the cheap non slip rug pad grippers, I could have bought on Amazon. What A Rip Off!!! In addition, I had to pay for all cleaning, new pads and pick-up and delivery $3,686.00 in FULL before any of the work was performed. read more
