Asked a friend that owns a Thai restaurant which one he recommends in the Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln area and he recommended Rum Thai. It did not disappoint! Actually I was honestly surprised it was as good as it was being in Lincoln ‍ and not only was it good enough to satisfy they honestly have the best pad Thai in the entire region. I almost never order pad Thai because it's always too sweet but looking at the pictures I thought this one might be better and it most certainly was!! When we walked in it was pretty dead inside but by the time we left it was completely full yet the service still remained good. The ambiance wasn't anything to write about in a bad or good way but bonus points for having Female hygiene products in the bathroom that's always such a great touch by a restaurant to show they really care about their guests. I stopped at Rum Thai Bistro while in the Lincoln area. I saw all the great reviews and decided it would be the perfect spot to pick up lunch before heading home. It's in a busy plaza, but there's plenty of parking available. Inside is decorated nicely and has plenty of seating, and I was greeted right away. I ordered take out at the counter and while I was there they were offering lunch portions in addition to their regular portions. I ended up ordering Thai Tea, Tom Kha Soup, Green Curry (lunch portion) and Pad Eggplant (full order) along with rice to go with the Pad Eggplant. The lunch portions are a bit smaller, but come with rice, while the regular portions are larger and a bit more expensive and rice is extra. I took a seat and waited for my order. They brought my Thai tea out right away and I sipped on it while I waited. The tea was tasty and had good flavor without being overly sweet. As I waited there were a bunch of people stopping in to pick up take-out orders. It didn't take too long to receive my order and it was well packed- in fact, since I ordered my Tom Kha soup with tofu and chicken they even had an extra small container so the full portion, with add ons would fit. I thought this was very considerate. All the food was still hot once I returned home and it was packed very securely. My favorite was the Pad Eggplant, on the menu it's listed as choice of: Chicken, Pork, Beef, Tofu, Mixed Vegetables, Shrimp, or Calamari | Stir-fried eggplant, bell peppers, carrots, onions, green onions, sweet basil, and your choice of protein sautéed in Grandma's special sauce. The Grandma's special sauce is the reason I ordered it and it was delicious. The veggies were fresh, the sauce was flavorful, and I ordered mine with pork and it was great. The green curry was good, but didn't blow me away- this is something I typically order at Thai restaurants and the curry had a very soupy consistency that was thinner. The veggies were fresh and delicious, and didn't soak in the curry flavor, they held their own fresh veggie flavor. I prefer my curries thicker, but it was still tasty. The Tom Kha soup was also good, but again thinner than my favorite spots and lighter in flavor. I also noticed they had slices of ginger in the soup which leant to flavor but between picking out the ginger and bay leaves there was more pieces that could have been removed by the restaurant instead of serving them. I would go back to try more items from the menu, and would definitely get the Pad Eggplant again. read more

This remains my 'tried and true' nearby standout for good, solid Thai food. I put in an order online for take-out at lunch, 1pm. It noted a 20 minute time frame for it to be ready. I headed over and arrived nearly to the minute. The order wasn't quite ready, which is unusual, but no problem as it only too approx. 10 more minutes, and I was not in a rush. This time I had a difficult time deciding on an appetizer, and opted for the Crab and Cream cheese Wontons, which comes with a nice sweet and sour sauce. They were good, crunchy and the filling delicious. Eggplant dishes are a favorite so I chose the Pad Eggplant w/pork. It was flavorful and very well prepared with just enough sauce. The Pad Kee Noodles (Drunken Noodles) were fantastic as always although I found the chicken selection somewhat chewy. My all time favorite, the Pineapple Fried Rice was right on target and super good. The past couple of times the flavor and amount of pineapple had diminished some, but this was back to awesome status. Usually I get one of the larger salads too, but this time opted for a smaller Cucumber Salad which was perfect. Fresh with an excellent variety of veggies to really compliment the meal off well. I got medium spice for nearly everthing. It was fine for me although quite apparent. I worried about Ed as he's more sensitive. He didn't mention it so I guess it passed the test for both of our spiciness levels. There are three Thai restaurants in Lincoln that we've found and this one to be the best. Curry is excellent. And when they explain "heat" ratings, believe them. I told them I wanted a 2-3 heat and they said No, you want a 1. I was a bit put off being told what I wanted, but Damn, they were right. Their heat ratings are different. But excellent food. I found this place on a whim and decided to take hubby here for a lunch date because I was craving Thai food. I looked at their menu. They had a good selection and they had great reviews here. We walked in during lunch hours, we seated right away, We got water and menus. The ambiance was really nice and well put together and very super peaceful music in the background. We got the wonton soup, shrimp, and vegetable tempura and chicken pad see ew. Everything came out in a timely manner and everything was hot and delicious portions were great. Everything was very hardy. The service were very attentive water glasses were always full and dirty dishes was always cleared and they were always attentive to see if we needed anything. We will definitely be back here again to try other things off the menu because it looks so delicious. read more

Omg this place is amazing !! If I could give it 10 stars I would ! This is a small family owned Thai restaurant in lincoln CA. It's a husband and wife that owned restaurant they take an hour break everyday from 3-4 pm right before the dinner rush . You could tell they take pride in their food and their establishment. Walking in everything is very clean and organized. They have excellent service . They are very friendly and attentive. For food, I love everything on the menu. If you come you have to try the pineapple rice It's delicious. Everything just taste so fresh. I have a shellfish allergy and they always help me with my order so that I do not get an allergic reaction. I barely go to any place that serves oyster sauce, but I will definitely come here because they take care of me. They make sure that there is no shellfish on my plate and I really appreciate that. Hurray for $10.95 Weekday Lunch Specials from 11 AM to 3 PM! Salad, entree, white rice, and dessert. Not the largest quantity of food, but I think it is a health-conscious portion. I was told that the To Go menu prices would be going up soon. Salad was lettuce and shredded carrot with a sweet peanut-based dressing. Green Curry Beef was my entree. It had a good amount of beef and a variety of vegetables: green beans, eggplant, bamboo shoots, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper. I liked the plating. For $1, you can upgrade to brown rice, which appears to be a multigrain mix in another reviewer's photo. Shrimp costs an extra $2. Dessert was a small scoop of colorful Thai Tapioca, which is green tapioca, coconut milk, and corn. I like getting free Asian desserts with a meal. Thai Tapioca is available on the dessert menu on weekdays primarily. My boyfriend and I usually go to Orchid Thai over on Twelve Bridges but we decided we wanted to try a new place. To be honest, I like this place even more. The servers were great and friendly. Food came really fast too. We had the pot stickers, chicken satay, beef and chicken pad Thai, and Thai fried rice with chicken. Everything was so delicious and the portions were pretty big. We left very full. Personally I wanted to try some of their desserts but we were both so full. We will have to try them next time. The ambiance was nice and very relaxed. It is located in the Raley's shopping plaza. We came here for lunch and the restaurant was mostly empty. The service was pretty fast. We started with the chicken larb salad. It was refreshing, but I'm used to it usually being spicy. We also ordered the pad woon sen (noodles) for the kids. I didn't try it, but it had more vegetables than noodles in it. Lastly, we had the basil fried rice with pork. It was good overall, but could've used more flavor. We left full. read more

My husband and I came here for the first and definitely not the last time tonight. We were on our way to Hard Rock Casino to see a show, and I wanted to dine outside of the smoky casino, so we stopped here due to the great reviews we saw (Thank you, my fellow Yelper family!) It's a cozy, nicely decorated restaurant and the minute you get inside, you know you are going to enjoy the experience, just from smelling the beautiful waft of aromas greeting you here. The service was fantastic and swift, and the food...OMG, the food was top notch! Every dish we had was the perfectly executed version of each Thai dish we've had elsewhere and the shrimp in each dish were huge, succulent and the entrees had so much flavor! Very nice quiet place in a nice area. Servers are very attentive to the guests, often asking if you need anything. I got the fish cakes appetizer with a Thai Iced Tea and Yellow Curry (with shrimp). Fish cakes were not quite what I was expecting, but they were still very good. Flavorful, the sauce they come with is a huge kicker for them! Thai iced tea was also very good. The Yellow Curry! Amazing, when it first came I was a little skeptical, as it looked like a tiny bowl; but it ended up being plenty to eat. Very flavorful, delicious, with some decent sized shrimp in there. I was feeling under the weather and craving wonton soup. My regular place was closed so I ordered to go from Rum Thai. It warmed my soul, soothed my throat and quickly became my favorite wonton soup in our area. The wontons are homemade with sausage. They add more vegetables than most which I loved. This review is for in-person dining/food. We have ordered their food to go (Doordash) about 3-4 times and loved it! Everything was cooked well, packaged well and taste amazing. We were in the area and haven't had Rum thai Bistro in awhile so we used the opportunity to try Rum Thai Bistro in person. Got seated, service was ok. We ordered and food came out quickly. Once the food started to come out, we knew something was different. All the food was overly sauced and extremely sweet. The pad Thai was swimming in the sauce which it shouldn't be. We tried to drain off as much of the sauce but it was just drenched. The papaya salad was more sour than anything, we tried to add spice to give it more flavor but it didn't really help. The garlic eggplant and chicken was probably the only thing that was decent because we had a side of steam rice to absorb some of the saltiness. Super disappointed. I'm nervous to order to go if this is something that just changed with the restaurant or if to go is the way to go??? Not sure but overall, pretty bummed. read more

This is one of the hidden gems in Lincoln as it really is hidden behind the pillars in front of the restaurant. San & Mali make you feel as if you are part of their family, they are the owners, and the head chef Nick, Mali's brother, is an awesome Thai chef. All their foods are tasteful and made to your liking. My wife like her walnut chicken mild and I prefer my Thai Basil either medium heat or Thai hot. Depending on my mood. Mali makes the potstickers so I know they are fresh and handmade. Very good. I haven't had a bad experience in this restaurant in all the years I've been coming since they first took ownership from Uncle Pon. The service from the wait staff was great. They regularly checked on us. I love spicy food so I had the choose #4 from their spice level and #4 being the spiciest. I love their silver glass noodle soup. Its so good. It is mostly what I order. Others in my family have tried many of the other dishes and report that they are also excellent. The service is good and the female waitress is pleasant and has a good sense of humor. We are always pleased when she waits on us. Lunch is always quickly served, allowing you time to enjoy your meal and make it back to work on time. I believe that this is a family run restaurant. The interior is pleasantly decorated and comfortable making us feel instantly at ease. The staff is always un-pretentious, professional and helpful.
