First time visiting and it did not disappoint. We had the won ton soup, pork fried rice, general chicken, beef& broccoli and walnut shrimp. Everything was flavorful, fresh and delicious!!! The owners checked on us regularly which was nice and appreciated. It got busy as we were there dining which is also a sign of how great the food is. Will definitely be back! So glad I tried the Mandarin chicken. It's really good. I got the lunch special, which came with egg drop soup. The Mandarin chicken is battered chicken pieces covered in a sauce that reminds me of sweet and sour sauce. The chicken was hot and crispy and the fried rice that came with it was also delicious (had pieces of Asian sausages and BBQ pork, which I love). The service is great too. I was working in Loomis when I was craving Chinese food. This place definitely hit the spot. Wasn't busy with dine ins but that door stayed swinging open with to go orders. I got the lunch special and it was well worth it. Big servings. You could definitely split it with someone else. Slightly over salted but nothing too crazy. Food tasted good. Lots of protein and veggies to go with it. Staff were friendly, greeted you as soon as you walked in. We found this place by word of mouth. First, don't let the name fool you. Yea it seems plain and even lacks imagination. That is perfectly fine. I will tell You why. Using the triangle of culinary measurement (taste, value, ambiance) this is an easy 5 star review. I will start by saying the service was tops. Most of the time I end reviews with service and ambiance but I want to start here, mostly because the name is so....bland. They could have used something like the "Flaming Dragon" for their name but instead they kept it humble. Don't let that fool you. The service is excellent, the establishment is spotless, and the decor is nice. On top of that, it has a really warm, and comfortable feel, along with a setup that allows for conversation. Next the food. Our meal was on point and executed incredibly well. I thought about the humble approach and the overall kindness of the experience. Combined with the delicious food, I was hooked. Everything was easily in the top ranks of similar dishes anywhere and I felt like it was easily the best tasting Chinese food I have had in a long time. I was surprised and happy to find this quality here. How about value? To me, value is the whole experience compared to the cost. And I can say that my experience exceeded my expectations easily when I considered the cost of the food. When all things were considered, this is easily the best Chinese spot in the area. Hands down best Chinese ... and I live in the downtown/midtown Sacramento area! My old office was near my Loomis Chinese, and their lunch specials were awesome! I got my parents hooked. The owners are just the nicest people, and they really get to know their regulars. I'll call and they know my order already!! The restaurant itself is clean, with no frills. The food is hot, veggies cooked perfectly, and super fresh! Portions are large, and reasonably priced. Only downside - their 'spicy' dishes aren't ever really spicy. But that's my only complaint! PSA: Chinese ratings seem to always be a sliding scale; one person's 2 star could be the next person's 5 star. My partner and I had lunch at Loomis Chinese Restaurant today. The service was attentive and friendly. But the reason I'm posting here is that the food was excellent!! I think it's the best I've had. I had the lemon chicken. It was piled high. The chicken was tender and very crisp on the outside and delicious. This is the third restaurant that I've tried in this "off the main drag" strip mall and very happy to say they're all very much worth going to! I feel like this strip mall is one of the hidden gems of Loomis. My friend and I were out and about looking for dinner amongst the closed and take-out-only places available in these COVID times. Since we weren't particularly near home, we weren't looking for take-out. We needed a place to sit, even if it was outside. When we arrived, it was obvious they were doing a significant take-out and delivery business. We didn't see anyone sitting down, so we asked if that was possible. The hostess pointed outside to a couple of tables on the sidewalk and said we could sit there and they'd be happy to serve us - yay! We ordered Shrimp with Garlic Sauce, General Chicken and House Fried Rice - all dishes I'm familiar with and have had elsewhere - and I'm happy to note that these renditions were as good or better than any I've had elsewhere!
