The absolute best Kabobs I have had in my whole life! The prices are fair, the staff is friendly, the rice and sauces included are very good, and the restaurants atmosphere is very homey! First of the quality of the food is amazing. Very authentic Persian food. Hard to find in this area. We had a combination of the chicken kabob and koobideh which is their ground beef. I ordered Mast-O-Moosir, Koobideh Kabob, Shirazi Salad through Grub Hub. I've never actually been inside the restaurant. This was my first experience. Mast- O-Moosir - cool that they make their own yogurt but this was very bland Koobideh Kabob - Didn't taste any seasoning just beef and rice. Kabob was very greasy. Grilled tomato was also included but not good. I liked that it had fresh basil with it Shirazi Salad - said it came with lime dressing but I think more lime would have tasted better. Lots of onion or shallot - that was all I could really taste The food was edible and I don't like wasting but I did not enjoy it and won't be going back. read more

I just picked up an order at Rumi restaurant. They were extremely rude! I ordered a pick up through Uber Eats, came after the time it was supposed to be ready in, and they told me there were at least 10 mins until it would be ready. I pointed out it should have been ready because I had to pick up my kid and the lady started yelling at me! "You want to fire me? Go ahead! You want to report me to Uber? Go ahead! I don't care!". Absolutely delicious grilled meat and vegetables. The Persian spices and flavors are a nice change from the usual fare. So far I've have the Cornish Game Hen, Lamb, Lamb Special, and Smoked Eggplant. All were all delicious and I will keep coming back. Also, many of us have to watch our carbs these days, so I deeply appreciate that you can choose salad instead of rice, which is not an option at their nearby competitors. read more

I was here and the Persian lady who probably is the owner was soooo rude to me. She uses REAL Harsh words, is very load and was pissed off on me when i just asked her how much time m I suppose to wait for the order. All i wanted to know was the time and she was yelling and cursing loud, an old lady there (her mother likely) asked her to calm down and not fight but she was super huper. As much as I'd like to rate this place higher, I find it very difficult to. Granted I only paid one visit there & it was for take out, so it could have been an off day, but as I was there, I was quite disappointed. Upon entering the restaurant, it was quite empty & there was only a single couple in the entire restaurant; all the other tables were empty. In fact, when I was there, I even heard the husband of the couple comment that he thought the rice that was served was a tad on the dry side, to which the hostess commented that their cuisine typically serves the rice dry like that, & that people typically add a bit of water. This sort of surprised me that you'd add water to rice...as I think that would make the rice quite bland. I ordered what turned out to be a beef skewer/kabob for take out, and for the price of about $17.95, I would have thought that I would get more than a single kabob, but no. What I received was a single skewer of very unflavorful beef cubes that I think might have only been seasoned with a little salt & pepper, IF that. It was quite bland. This was served with a grilled whole tomato which was probably grilled with a little oil & salt? I couldn't tell, it was pretty bland like the beef skewer. All of this was served on top of a bed of rice that was slightly on the dry side, but edible. A small portion of the rice looked like it might have been saffron rice? I couldn't tell because there wasn't much of a scent to it. I think the restaurant is still relatively new (opened Aug 2013?) & is tucked behind the KFC. I think they need to seriously re-consider their pricing scheme or start to include more with each dish, because for the price I paid, I would have expected more with meal. For the price paid, it would have been nice to at least receive another skewer of beef, as well as some flavor? I guess the only condolence I have is that the beef was cooked pretty well & was tender (I was asked how I wanted them, to which I replied medium rare, but when I got home the beef was pretty much cooked through, flavorless, but at least still tender?) read more

Food was freshly prepared and tasty. We thought chicken kabob was well-seasoned and met expectations. Vegetable stew above expectations. They accepted our Entertainment Book coupon for buy-one-get-one free (capped at $14 discount). But some important downsides: 1) Quantity. One skewer of chicken for a $16 kabob plate??? Come on. This isn't downtown Bellevue -- it's a strip mall behind another strip mall off a secondary street in the middle of nowhere. No reason for prices to be at this level. 2) Integrity. Menu said each dish was $15. But restaurant proprietor told us "Prices changed, now $1 more per dish." Actually she only told this after we had placed our order and when we remarked on the quoted total being higher than we expected. Give me a break. Restaurant prints a menu, hands it to customer -- that should be the price, not some inexplicably higher amount. There's another Persian restaurant on the same block. Next time we want this cuisine, we'll go there. Don't need the headache of smaller quantities at surprise-inflated prices. read more

I will give this place 2.5 stars if I could. Many people are trying to compare this place and prices to Caspian. This is not a Caspian and it is not even close to compare in any shape or form. This is more of what I consider a fast food style Persian food and neither the quality of food or the place comes close to Caspian. Caspian is a class of its own. This place started with Ok food. It is a good alternative for Persian food for a quick meal. However the quality of meat and rice continued to go downhill. Again you will always get what you pay for. Low prices can only mean low quality meat. No way around it. I rather drive little further and spend little more to get the real Persian experience at Caspian. read more

My family and I have been looking for a good, reasonably priced Persian restaurant on the Eastside for almost 2 years now with no luck - till now! I had an Entertainment BOGO coupon and was in the area so thought I'd give them a try at lunch. The lady who took my order over the phone was so sweet and polite. When I got there, I was greeted with smiles from the chef in kitchen and the lady at the counter. I grabbed 2 orders of the koobideh - each of which came with 2 large skewers, a roasted Roma tomato, lots of buttery rice and some saffron rice. It also came with a small box with fresh basil leaves, onions, butter, and sumac. First of all, the portion was HUGE and I easily got 2 servings out of one box. Second, and more importantly, it was absolutely delicious. The rice was seasoned perfectly and was very buttery (you could see that the grains were glistening) but in a good way. The koobideh was also very flavorful. The koobidehs I've tried at other places on the Eastside have either been bland, dry, or had a strong turmeric flavor (turmeric is great in curries but I'm not a fan of it in my koobideh) but here the meat was super juicy, had the right amount of seasoning, and no turmeric taste. I'm so glad that I took a chance and tried this place out bc even though it's a bit far from where I live, I'll be back! read more

Shocked by the negative reviews! We had an absolutely delightful lunch at Rumi. Going with a group of 4 Iranians with pretty high standards, we thought everything was quite delicious. The dugh was nice and tangy, the mast o moosir was good, and the kebab was on point. The koobideh & bath were especially tender and juicy and the joojeh, while not bursting with flavor was super juicy! The owner's sister waited our table and was quite friendly, especially since we could all speak Farsi. I definitely want to go back to try some of the khoresh, which they didn't have available that day (a bummer, but whatevs). Prices were okay, it seems like all 5 of the Persian restaurants in the area have the same price point. I definitely think this place outshines Persepolis in UDistrict. read more

Try this place today! I am glad I found this hidden gem finally. I was ordering on Amazon Restaurants when I saw this restaurant and decided to give it a try. It is Persian, not Gyros or typical "Mediterranean" food. It's similar but cleaner, with less overpowering seasoning so you can enjoy the meat and veggies. I'm still learning the difference so I would just encourage you to try. The lamb kabobs and ground beef kabob we're so juicy and tasty. The rice was fluffy and not greasy. The grilled peppers and tomato we're juicy and sweet. Some people will appreciate the fresh basil leaves, onion slice, parsley, lime, the smoked paprika like seasoning (told you I'm learning), and butter that came on the side. Don't be discouraged by the bad reviews and give their food a try. They were also really polite and handled it well when they were out of the cornish I ordered online... I first ordered take-out from Rumi Restaurant, and I wanted to hold off on giving a proper review until I'd eaten in the restaurant. Our take-out order was plentiful, but the koobideh was dry. When we ate in the restaurant, the koobideh was much more juicy. I did find the meat to be on the blander side, but sprinkling the sumac over the kabobs and rice helped a lot. The chicken kabobs (joojeh) are incredibly juicy - no dry overcooked meat there. Again, the flavor in the chicken was lacking, and we had to ask for raw onion to give some oomph to the meal. So, all in all, the meats and rice are cooked well, but I wish it were flavored a bit more. I think I'll need to order shirazi to accompany the meal for my particular palate next time. On the East coast, Persian restaurants serve a spicy fresh herb sauce with their kabob platters - wish I could find that here. read more

This restaurant does not even deserve a single star. We have been to so many restaurants around the world. The owner of Rumi's is a very rude person and lacks customer service big time. Yesterday, it was my husband birthday and we went to celebrate his birthday. When we were sitting on our table...they had closed their curtains. We requested them to open their Curtains. The lady who took our order opened them up. Unfortunately, the curtains rod fell and one curtain came down. The owner started shouting from the kitchen saying it is my restaurant how can we ask them to open the curtain. We were so shocked that we left the restaurant without creating a scene. We will never go to this horrible restaurant and we are going to share our experience with our friends and family. They should not be a part of Microsoft prime. read more

Tasty,clean,good quality food and very nice cozy atmosphere. The gentleman that served my take out orders,brought me a Persian tea and full pot with pastry without even asking me,just as good costumer service,I was going to medical check up and was fasting so declined it,but appreciate the fantastic service. THEY DO NOT DESRVE 1 TENTH OF A STAR! I have been buying from this restaurant for the past 5 years. Today, I placed an order with Rumi Restaurant thru Grub Hub. Grub hub shows the order was delivered somewhere in Kirkland instead of my house in Redmond by mistake. I contacted Grub Hub and they refunded me my money since the order was basically lost. In return Grub Hub canceled the payment to the restaurant. Whether that was right or wrong it is not my problem. Grub Hub customer service asked me to go ahead and place a new order which I did. A few minutes later I get a phone call from Rumi Restaurant, some young girl and she started yelling at me non-stop not even giving me a chance to explain to her what happened. She kept screaming at me and accusing me of receiving the order and then I called and canceled it so I would not pay for it and that I ate it already. She told me she is very aware of people like me, shady people who eats the order then get a refund claiming order was lost. I got mad at this point and told her I ask you 2 questions: 1 Why would I place a new exact order as the one canceled If I received the first one and ate it. 2 I kept on asking her to compare the address it was delivered to in Kirkland and my actual address in Redmond! But she did not want to listen to any of my explanation whatsoever! I went furthermore in telling her I am willing to pay her directly for the order that was lost by Grub hub and to pay for a new order. Suddenly her mother the owner gets on the phone and tells me the exact same BS as her daughter with very rude voice and insults and screaming at me. I am a 63 year old man and in all my life I have never been treated so badly or rude by any of the restaurant I have ever order from I will not ever order from this restaurant anymore. What a bunch of rude, impolite, unprofessional, and very low-class people running this business. Well my disappointment is probably a record. We ordered beef koobideh and Chicken Soltani combos with Lubia Polo rice and Shirazi. Portions good, forgot to pack our Lavish bread but everything tasted the same, bad like it was cooked in dirty dish water. Koobideh was overcooked. Shirazi no flavor. The rice was horrible. The yogurt marinade on Chicken tasted Like everything else. Definitely wont go back as 3 meals cost me $70 and my family wouldnt eat more than a few bites. In the trash. read more

I was not impressed at all. I love cuisine from Iran and the Middle East and have enjoyed it most of my life. One thing you should always count on from a Persian restaurant or Middle Eastern restaurant is super hospitality, smiles and tasty food. Unfortunately, the hospitality was horrible. I was not greeted, the woman did not smile or engage me even though I was 1 of 2 customers in the restaurant, and she just wasn't friendly. When other Persian customers walked in, I saw this woman come to life with smiles and lively chatter... but even after that, she never smiled at me. When I went to the front to pay my check, she just reached her arm out at me, as she was walking by, to reach for my credit card. She didn't thank me or ask me how I liked my meal. The chicken kabob lunch was mediocre. The chicken was salty and slightly overcooked. She gave me a bowl of yogurt sauce. The basmati rice was okay. The salad was okay. The cook was not wearing a hairnet nor a hat. He also had a full beard. Gross. They had on some horrible artist on the TV who was half singing half talking and it was horrible.
