I love this spa! Their facials are amazing! They also provide one of the most relaxing pedicures you will EVER have. I recently moved with my wife to the Lake Oswego area from New York and have been delighted with the unswerving congeniality of Oregonians from all walks of life. When one is greeted with such consistent civility and good cheer on a daily basis, one's level of expectation is pegged at an extremely high level. Alas, this morning in the final few minutes of an otherwise first-rate haircut at Rumi Simone in Lake Oswego, I was confronted by perhaps the most unprofessional display of unmitigated boorishness I can recall ever having encountered. My haircut was interrupted by a hard-edged woman who was later identified as the owner of the salon and spa. She accosted me for having parked in a reserved zone (apparently, as I was also told later, her personal parking spot). Her diatribe went on for 7 or 8 minutes as I was seated in the chair. At the end of the monologue (to call it a dialogue would be too kind), the woman reached down and patted me on my thigh (I am a man) as if she were making a gesture of pedagogical approval to a small child in pre-school. I later told my hairdresser that if her hand had gone any higher, she would have been in trouble. I dismissed this experience as the hysteria of someone who is unable to deal with situations that require tact and basic courtesy. Reluctantly (because the young hairdresser who has cut my hair has been impeccably pleasant and attentive), I have decided never to return to Rumi Simone as a result of my treatment by the owner of this establishment. As a a retired professor, I have little inclination at this point in my life to be talked to so condescendingly by someone who could not even gain admission to the elite institutions where I have taught. Indeed, her misplaced gesture involving my thigh had it been carried out in the context of an educational institution would have opened her unequivocally to the sexual harassment process. I found the gesture neither endearing nor appropriate. I am voting on this establishment with my feet and my wife has indicated that she will follow me out the door. I am posting this review to register a caveat to anyone who has dealings with the owner of Rumi Simone. read more

I absolutely love this place. Their facials and foot massages are absolutely wonderful. The facility is beautiful and calming like a high class spa should be. Also their customer service is spectacular. After my spa day of relaxation I went over to the cute bakery next door for a little snack. We live out of town and on the drive home I realized I misplaced an earring halfway through the drive. I called Rumi Simone and they searched everywhere with no luck. I called the bakery after this news and luckily they found my earring on the floor but were busy and held it at the front counter. I placed one more call to the front desk at Rumi and before I could even ask they offered to go to the bakery, pick up the earring and send it to me. I received it in the mail 2 days later with an additional little sample. They are wonderful and this place is my absolute favorite!! Amazing spa! Let me start from the beginning. I had a surprise spa day planned for my husbands birthday at the beach. Unfortunately our plans fell through because our daughter got sick. So I called EVERY Single Spa in Portland. Either they had no availability or they didn't offer couples massage.. I Called Rumi Simone they were able to fit us in with in a couple hours. AND they offered us a couples steam room. The massages were BEYOND amazing and so relaxing! The facility is beautiful and very high end. We will be coming back very soon. Again. WOW this spa is so beautiful and amazing. top notch 5 star spa in Lake Oswego. Loved the experience, and the level of service was very high. The woman that gave me a facial spoke to me the entire time, and gave me tons of great skin care tips. truly a professional. I loved the lounge, and used the steam room and the sauna before I left. I also had a pedicure, which was one of the best I ever had. I would high recommend this spa, and their packages are very reasonably priced. read more

I get a Rosie Jolie pedicure a couple times a summer and for the holidays. Susan usually is the manicurist and does a wonderful job. But I have to agree with others that the front desk people are not at all customer service oriented. I have never written a review before, positive or negative, but I am tired of going into the reception/retail area of this spa and either being told to wait or been treated as dumb or insignificant. This week I called for an appt and 1). was put on hold for about 5 minutes, 2). hassled about coming in at 4:00 instead of 4:30, 3). told thesilicone product i picked up off shelf to purchase was not good and I should by some new type of oil that is sooo much better. And, of course, $30.00 more! And, worse yet, last summer, I stopped in and purchased this same silicone treatment. As i left the retail shop, I stopped to try a tester. When done, I put tester back where found. I left store and was in front of Peets Coffee and all their customers who were enjoying a Sat morning cup od coffee and the sales person came running out, shouting "Stop, did you take the cap?" The cap!! I returned to the reception room with her and we found the cap to the sample on the floor. I am honestly not sure if i removed cap or it was already off, but I think she could have looked a little closer before she ran out of store shouting at me. Very frustrating, but my husband keeps buying these gift certificates for me. My daughters have clued him into another spa, so we will see if things are better there or not. Again, Susan and the Rosie Jolie pedicure are great. Just those testy front dest folks. And, personally, I think the front desk person is the most important! Also, why do they need my credit card info? Sorry for going on and on. Just, expect more when you pay over $100.00 for a pedicure. read more

I finally got around to trying this facility a few weeks ago and I am so glad I did! This is a spa that totally lives up to its reputation. Special kudos to an aesthetician named GiGi who tinted my upper and lower eyelashes and also shaped and tinted my eyebrows, all for less than $100. Not only was I thrilled with the results, but I found GiGi to be a very kind and caring person with whom it was easy to communicate. I love getting my pedicures here. It's a little more expensive than the drop in nail salons, but the pedicure lasts twice as long. The environment is so luxurious that I stay an extra half a hour with my feet propped up on the firplace reading my kindle and munching on their great snacks. I don't indulge myself very often, so I really appreciate this place. And, It is very clean! read more

I've been a client for many years at the hair salon. Can't say enough good about the level of professionalism and service I've received. Aleka always has me leaving there with a color and style that elicits many compliments. My look may be a little edgier but I have also brought my conservative Mom to the salon for haircuts and she has been thrilled with the technique and style she's received. I was introduced to Rumi by my girlfriend who lives in Lake Oswego. What a beautiful space. A sanctuary away from the world. Ambience is soothing, facilities excellent. Steam room, sauna, relaxation area with Aveda tea and granola. Beautiful fireplace and water feature cascading down wall. Shower room and dressing table equipped with Oribe hair, Aveda, Valmont cleansing lotion. Everything you may want and more. Staff are amazing. Lisa is the best aesthetician I have ever met for facials to die for. So sweet and professional. Marsha is amazing for massage, very knowledgeable and interested in providing whatever you are seeking. Front staff always patient and accommodating. My only hesitation in writing this review is I'm letting you in on one of my favorite places to be! I have been to beautiful spas in London and other places. This is one of the best! I loved the spa last year and have wanted to return, my friend and I scheduled an appointment for this Christmas break. I called to ck and see that I had gotten the same technician I had last year. At the same time I asked about the Black Friday special they have and was rudely told by the front desk girl that it is not valid until after the first of the year and our appointment was right before that. I asked if that was new since I had only been there one time before, because I know we used it last year and we must have used it after the first of January, very curtly and rudely she let me know with a sarcastic laugh it had been that way for the last 11 years! She also quickly let me know, without my asking about it, that Spa Finder is blacked out during that time as well! I guess she decided that if I was asking about a discount I must be cheap and not really their normal clientele so she needed to set me straight about all the "inexpensive" ways to use their spa. I thought it was extremely rude and judgmental. She has no idea what my income is or if I can afford to come at full price or not! The spa is beautiful and I have been thinking of going back several times but we travel a great deal and spend time out of the country and I haven't made it back in. Now I am pretty positive I don't want to go. I find these types of attitudes completely not acceptable. Very disappointing! read more

I unfortunately have been to numerous different hair stylist only to leave extremely disappointed. I would always pay 100+ dollars for a color/cut and leave not even looking like I had anything done to my hair. So when I was told about Kelsey Smith I figured I was going to leave disappointed yet again, but I desperately needed something done to my disastrous hair. Upon arrival she was very welcoming and made me feel more comfortable and relaxed than I've ever been going to get my hair done. We decided to go with a brown/blonde balayage. During the process she always made sure to keep the conversation going; asked me how I was doing, if I needed anything, and was just very tentative to my needs. As she's blow drying my hair I'm just closing my eyes waiting for her to be done so I can see how it looks. When I opened my eyes I about screamed I was so happy with how beautiful my hair looked! The whole process from start to finish was the best I've ever had!! Also mind you I live in Independence and hour plus drive from Lake Oswego and you better believe I'll be back! Kelsey, I can't thank you enough. You've made me feel so much better about myself with how well my hair always looks. I am new to the are and was looking for a salon/spa. Rumi Simone's came highly recommended by several people. My hair was roughly chin length. I had a very clear photo of a shorter style. I had an appt with 'Dani' to have my roots touched up and a cut/style. I am very happy with the root touch up. The cut is disastrous. She looked at the photo several times, yet insisted on NOT giving me anything close to the style. We both agreed that the style was fitting for my hair type (thick/coarse/curly). The desired style was a good two inches shorter than what I currently had...yet each time she said "OK...there ya go. Anything you would like me to change?"...yes, I would like you to cut my hair (it was still too long). The third time around, I said "Stop. Just stop. I ...I can't be here anymore. I have to...I just have to go." The desired cut was short all over, mid-ear, and sassy. I ended up with somewhat of a pompadour, and senseless 'chops' all over the sides and back. Upon checkout, I stated that I was extremely dissatisfied, showed that person the photo of the desired cut, pointed to the cut I was given, stated I would be wearing a hat for the next couple of months, and that I would never come back. She said "I'm sorry." There was no offer of a manager re-cutting my hair to try and salvage any type of 'look', no compensation on the price, etc...nothing to try and rectify the situation...or salvage the relationship with a potential repeat customer. The only recommendation I can give re Rumi Simone is to stay away...stay far away. The customer service is non-existent as is the talent of the stylist (that I had). This place is extremely overrated. Save your $$$ and find a Supercuts. read more

Unbelievably decadent and relaxing pedicure - far and away the best I have ever experienced. Everyone we interacted with from beginning to end was super friendly and gracious - it seemed like they all wanted us to feel pampered. My sister and I both noticed and remarked about how perfect the service was - none of that awkward meaningless chit-chat you get at a lot of salons, but also no hoity attitude at all. We felt incredibly welcomed and were treated like rock stars with mimosas, tea, water, offers to hang out and enjoy the relaxation room or the sauna. I have paid twice the price more than once for pedicures that could not hold a candle to this experience. Since moving to Portland one of my favorite things to look forward to is trying out a different salon for every pedicure - but Rumi Simone Spa has put that to a stop forever. I am a lifer! I would not dream of going anywhere else for a spa day ever. I just got home a couple of hours ago and I already can't wait to go back. My only gripe is the music - a little too "new age" for me, like something you would hear while shopping for incense and paintings of dolphins and fairies. I get that they want relaxing music, but I think it would be worthwhile to change the tone maybe to something a little bit middle-eastern or something like that, maybe even some jazz or classical or something? I really couldn't stand the music but it was soft and not obtrusive. Once the pampering began it stopped bothering me. read more
