This store is the epitome of customer service. I walked into this place not really having a clue about what kind of shoe would best fit me and what would help with my recurring shin splints. I walked out being fully educated about my gait and the problems that attribute to my shin splints as well as shoe care and maintenance. They are so knowledgable here and of course, friendly and patient. The staff made me feel at ease. They carry a wide selection of brands and I like that they don't just have the large name brands, but that they also carry more runner specific brands. The people were nice and helpful at this store, as I originally wrote. But in the end I've become skeptical of these specialty running stores. They are quick to look at you walk back and forth and tell you if your pronate or supinate, just by eye. Then they recommend shoes on this basis. It turns out, if you look at scientific literature on this, that it's basically impossible to figure out if someone pronates or supinates just by watching them walk back and forth. To do it properly you have to put the person on a treadmill, video tape them running, and have a properly trained researcher evaluate this. Running stores have been quick to jump on the band wagon and recommend specialzed shoes, based on evaluations that they really are not qualitifed to perform. The result for me is that I was told I pronate, but I'm not sure this is true, and in the long run I think the shoes I was sold may have cause or contributed to a hip injury I developed. So I think people really need to do their own research about what kind of shoes to get and take the advice of well meaning stores like this with a big grain of salt. read more

Very impressed with the service and help I got here. I am running my first half marathon and knew my nike frees weren't going to cut it. This place is nothing like your typical FootLocker type stores. These guys know their stuff really really really well. Sergio helped me scan my feet and brought out 5 pairs of shoes for me to try. Run with them! After months of overtraining, I developed plantar fasciitis. It's a repetitive stress injury and you'll feel it right under the arch of your foot. I learned the hard way that shoes are for support, not fashion. Stupid Nike shoes! I finally had enough and visited Run With Us. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable; I even noticed the trainees studying from a orthopedic foot textbook. Very impressive! And you might have bumped into them at a recent race -- they run, so they KNOW your pain, definitely something you can't get from the kids at Foot Locker. Feel free to pick out your favorite running shoe if you know what you need. Otherwise, ask a staff member to recommend something for you. Be prepared to model your stride in the store. Love this store for your basic running needs. They have everything from all the best running shoes from a wide array of brands, to running clothes, shoes, goo-packs, you name it they probably have it. But that's now what earns them 5 stars... I walk into the store with my beat up Kayano's and immediately I am greeted even though there are others in the store. I tell the sales guy my size and that I am looking to replace my current pair. He grabs the shiny new Kayano's along with a few other pairs of stability plus shoes and brings them out for me without my asking, explaining although it is usually best to stick with a shoe that works, it doesn't hurt to test out any others to see if they feel even better. He explains that sometimes the little changes between each generation of the same model shoe can make an old favorite even better or a reliable go-to feel awkward and slightly off, so it helps to try out others. I tried on all the others while asking some other questions and he never missed a beat, didn't act annoyed or pressure me into anything. In the end i still stuck with my Kayano's the ole faithfuls, but it was nice to get that kinda service and advice from an expert. At the register I asked if they had any of last year's models for any cheaper, and even though they didn't, he offered me 15% off this years without me asking at all. Top notch service, top grade products, and friendly workers who understand their clients and aim to please make this store head and shoulders over the retail giants. Oh and he also mentioned the running clubs they have at the rosebowl... if that's not a way to build a lasting customer then I don't know what is. and they love YELP! read more

I have had the worst luck with shoes. Either that, or I just don't know how to choose them. I am a girl who has worn flip flops to a rocky hike, size 5 heels to go dancing when I am a size 7-7.5, and a mismatched pair to an interview. So imagine my confusion when I went into Run With Us and looked at a wall lined with athletic shoes. I stood there for a while just staring, thinking oh, these look ... interesting. Thankfully, a sales guy came over and assessed my shoe needs. I wanted to start getting in shape. I just needed a shoe that would be comfortable for using at the gym and running. I already owned two pairs of shoes that I had used in the past for working out. One gave me heel pain and the other gave me blisters. So typical of me to choose the wrong shoes. He measured my foot and immediately recognized that my right foot is slightly longer than my left foot. It doesn't help that my second toe on my mutant foot is longer than my big toe. He recommended that I try wearing size 7.5 and to make sure I had enough wiggle room for my toes. He also made me stand on one foot and noted that my ankles were weak, a huge problem when I go hiking. I have terrible balance and I crawl, rather than walk, when I'm on uneven terrain. He also made me walk back and forth and observed that I need a shoe with a good arch support. He brought out four boxes, and the Mizuno shoe fit like a glove on my feet. I had never worn a more comfortable shoe, or a more colorful one. But I rock it when I run! Plus, I don't fall anymore. I CAN RUN NOW! read more

If I'm walking into a specialty running store it's because I'm looking for information about running/ wprkout shoes. "You don't know what you don't know" doesn't this makes sense. I couldn't understand why all of a sudden, after every run over 2 miles I was getting blisters on both of my feet on the inside of my arches. Ok, maybe the sales guy that was talking to us was a newbie but where was the next person to make sure that a sale was to be made. Whatever, he had no insight to my feet/ shoe problem and was just telling me what I already knew. If I wanted running/ workout shoes, I can just go to Foot Locker or any other shoe store in the malls but I'm going to a specialty running shoe store! I'm expecting more than just someone getting me the right shoe size. If you're looking for some insight to running/ workout shoes, Run With Us cannot help you, especially compared to Road Runners in Torrance, CA where they have treadmills, video cameras, sensor imaging mats, customized insoles and staff with a wealth of knowledge who actually help you. read more

I have overpronation on both feet. So after I went to the chiropractor, I was advised to come to "Run with Us" to get some proper shoes. They measured my feet, asked me to walk for them, tested my balance, and brought out the best shoes that would work for me. You can get trail running shoes anywhere, and if you're in westside Los Angeles like me, what's the point of driving all the way out to Pasadena to get new shoes, right? There might be a few discounts, but not enough to make up for the gas money to get out there. But really, "Run with Us" gets my highest recommendation because you honest to God need their sales people to fit the right shoe; with initiative they choose selections that reflect comfort, fit, style, and necessity for you. if you are going to run, be good to your body - Run With Us can help! the style of new balance i wore changed and somehow didn't have the same fit. i went to RWU to find a comparable pair after not finding one at NB. they brought out 5 pairs of shoes that fit my gait, body and mileage. they told me the benefits of each (some subtle) and suggested the one that might be best (it wasn't the most expensive pair). they are all runners but aren't intimidating and were really supportive and encouraging. you have to park in the back (not on lake) and it's a squeaky little lot. but it's worth the trip (shoe prices are comparable to normal prices) if you want to run, prevent injury and get some great running advice! read more

i always had trouble finding the right running shoe for me, looking online, going into the store, etc etc. i spent so much money on running shoes, some were too heavy, some made my ankles twist, there wasn't the right arch in another...they just didn't work for me at all. i had trouble finding the right pair ever since i sprained one of my ankles twice, even once i had to be on crutches for like a month (nothing glamorous, just fell off a ladder into a small ditch).so since then my ankle twists a certain way, and i was starting to think i needed to run in high tops. since i was going to run a half marathon and needed the right fit, a friend directed me to this place. she said they fit you for your specific needs, you walk in a line and they tell you what shoes you need. sounded kooky to me, but i was willing to try it out. and wa la! they really service you like you're the only person in the store..almost like you have your own personal trainer..for shoes. they asked me to walk in a straight line and right away, one of the salesman knew that i had an ankle turning problem. in addition, he found that i turn the soles of my feet a certain way by looking at my old shoe's soles. terrific service and no pressure at all. i got fit with the right pair of shoes, and it has been the best pair of running shoes i've had thus far. read more

These guys know what they're doing! I went in to buy a pair of trail runners, and they helped me find just what I wanted. The salesman asked me all the right questions to narrow down what type of shoe I needed, assessed my gait, measured my feet, and then brought out about half a dozen shoes. When I went through all 6 pairs without finding one I liked, he was patient and happily brought out 6 more for me to try on. When I finally found the perfect pair, he asked me more questions to make sure they fit well. I was happy to discover that the pair I decided on also happened to be one of the most affordable trail runners available. Best shoe-buying experience I've ever had. read more

Everyone here is very knowledgeable. My husband buys running gear here all the time. They let you try on the shoes and go around the area for a test jog. They are good at fitting you for your individual shoe needs. There's always someone around to help you, even when it gets full. The only drawback about their location is that there is very limited parking in the back, and on busy days they stack a few of the spots. read more

I've just gotten back into running after a 10 year break. I came to Run With Us looking for a little more help and advice in picking out a running shoe as I imagine I would have gotten at a big box sporting goods store. I was not disappointed! Great little shop, very helpful personalized attention immediately upon walking in. I picked a pair of Adidas, and off I went on my Training adventures! Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of the story for me. The shoes I had bought from these guys ended up not fitting me correctly- As I started to extend my running range, I realized the right shoe was giving me a nasty blister on my arch at around the 3 mile mark. I brought the shoes back in to Run With Us on a lark- I didn't expect much out of them, since I had already run quite a bit in the shoes, and I did pick them out after all! However, these guys went above and beyond- They helped me pick out a better fitting pair, and took back the old pair as an exchange! That was far more generous than I had expected, I was blown away! VERY rare in this day and age to see customer service like these people provide. I'll be back for all my running shoes from here on out! read more

I can't say anything bad about this place. They were on top of their service at the very moment I walked in, and were very open to answer my questions. I really recommend this spot to anyone who is getting into running, training, or just to get an analysis of what shoe wear would be appropriate for everyday walking. They have a really cool piece of equipment that takes an image of your stance and from that, they can tell you what type of shoes that are appropriate for whatever you're trying to do. They recommended that I have a shoe with much arch support since I had flat feet. They took time to inform me on how that can affect my posture, feet, etc overtime. At the end I felt like I felt it was long overdue since I gathered information that felt as important as I did there. The great thing is too I wasn't there for hours, and I found a pair of shoes I really liked. The assistant assured me that I even had a time to try the shoes and if I didn't like it, then i would have an oppurtunity to return or exchange them. That was awesome because it added security to my purchase as well. Great job to the staff of Run With US. Im sure to come in again when I purchase my next pair of athletic shoes! read more

My girlfriend and I came in here last week to pick up some running shoes. The sales girl Rosario was very helpful. She did our foot analysis on the machine and then brought out a series of shoe options that fit our foot types. We wanted to get matching shoes, and so we chose some Brooks that were super comfortable and spiffy to boot. They didn't have the matching color I wanted in stock, so they had to order them for me, but my girlfriend got hers that day. I paid for both of our pairs of shoes, and Rosario said mine would be mailed to my apartment. Five days later I got a call from the store saying that my shoes had arrived but that it would be an extra $15 charge to mail them to my residence. Rosario did not mention this. I dropped by to pick up the shoes today, the sales guy (I didn't catch his name) got them for me, and I said I already paid for them, and left. Before I drove away, the sales guy came out and knocked on the window of my car with a large folder, which I assume is their sales log. He asked to see the receipt because they had no record of me paying for the shoes (their fault, not mine). Fortunately I had the receipt with me and showed it to him. Even after I proved that I had already paid for the shoes, he kept looking through the sales log, asking me who sold me the shoes and what day I bought them on. So because of their poor bookkeeping (shouldn't this be done electronically and not in a disorganized file folder?!) they suspected me of walking out without paying for the shoes. It was not a pleasant or professional customer service experience. 1 star subtracted for Rosario not mentioning the extra fee for home delivery, 1 star subtracted for the unprofessional sales guy, 1 star subtracted for their dated bookkeeping method. read more

This is one of the best running shoe stores I've ever been to. The store was crazy busy when I walked in, but that didn't stop one of the incredibly helpful and knowledgeable employees from coming right over and asking if I could use help. He took a look at my feet and the way i walked, and then he brought out five pairs that would be good for me. He suggested that I walk around and even take them outside. He was very informative and it helps that he is a runner too. When you go to chain athletic stores most of the times the people that work there don't even workout. I went there for the expertise that I had heard about. The trained staff, analyzed my needs and gave me a shoe with way too much arch support. I questioned it, but he said that my feet would adapt. Since they came so highly regarded, I took his advice. I wore the shoes for a while and my second toe in ended getting really messed up. Turned black underneath and I thought I was going to have to go to the doctors. Instead, I just got rid of the over priced shoes and my toe heeled. I'm pretty sure I walked and ran on that toe for months because the arch was so high. To this day, I feel the place is just overrated. read more

I had a really positive experience there. I showed up about 25 minutes before the store closed, but the employee I talked to was still super helpful and seemed like she really knew what she was doing. I told her my price range was preferably on the low end, and she brought out a bunch of shoes for me to try on and even let me run around on the sidewalk outside the store to test them out.
