I used to visit this park frequently years ago with my previous dog. Now we have a new puppy and finally received all of the proper permitting for her and was able to visit this park last night. There's a big sign off Rawson Ave to let you know where to enter. The gravel road back there is very bumpy so you have to go very slow to get to the park. The park itself is next to a golf center and there are several signs posted to let you know where dogs are and are not allowed. Once you park and make your way through the double gates you can choose to either let your canine friend go off leash and run around the big field, or bring them to the small dog area. Last night there were loads of pups all sizes wandering around the big field, so that's where I took my puppy. Since I've been here last it looks like there have been some really nice improvements made such as agility training toys the dogs can play on and less potential mud pits. However, I did see one dog who looked like he had a roll in the mud, so maybe bring a towel with you to wipe down your dog just in case . We didn't get to walk around the whole field, but there's plenty of room for spacing out. There are paths you can follow that will take you all round the park and down through the middle of it. There are also a ton of water bowls placed around for dogs to take a drink. Several people brought balls and toys for their dogs to play with. Others enjoyed just standing around and letting their dogs socialize. I am very happy with our experience here last night and will come back again! read more

Great dog park. The loop is fairly short so we had to do two laps. Only complaint was the long grass. I'm sure the puppy's loved it but it was hard to walk off the trail with them. read more

We were on our way to Currie dog park in Tosa when we hit gridlock traffic heading north. We were diverted south and quickly consulted Yelp to see if there was a dog park south of Milwaukee. Turns out there is! Yahtzee! Runway is a huge fenced off leash dog area with a wonderful cleared trail looping through it. There's plenty of open field space for dogs to romp and roam. While navigating the trail, we came across plenty of bench seats and water bowls (bring your own water, but the bowls are provided) for when Fido needs a break and some hydration (which he will...so much running!). I would say this dog park caters more to those interested in going on a safe, off leash walk with their canine pals. There are open spaces for running, but they aren't kept mowed, so, not the best for fetch etc. When I'm looking for dog socialization/play time, we'll continue to frequent Currie. But, when I'm just looking to get a bit of a walk myself, while letting the dogs run their enthusiastic zig zags in the flanking fields--this will be the park I go to. One word of caution, though: the mosquitos are bad in the summer months. You may want to bug spray up (or wait for fall). Get to it! read more

Very nice dog run for the area with ample space and nice features. The entrance could be easier to find since it's tucked back away behind the driving range. It winds around and one point you feel as though you've made a wrong turn, but just keep going. After walking in you'll notice some toys / training pieces in the field to the left and a smaller pen for smaller dogs. The rest is wide open. There's plenty of room to let your pup run free, but it's not all that great if you like to walk around and see some different things. It's a wide open field and the walking paths aren't quite cleared away so in the summer when the grass is longer it makes for a little tougher of a go round. Also opens the door for more ticks. There is some water, but just small streams if you don't quite care for a muddy lil fur ball. It only took us about 15 min to walk in a complete circle around it and that was walking near the fences. There are a couple of picnic tables if you like to just sit and let your dog do whatever. We enjoy walking around so it is a bit on the boring side as opposed to a wooded area with some more scenery. It's pretty maintained and minimal noise considering you're right by the airport. read more

A very nice, if oversized dog park. The entrance road is full of potholes, but I've heard that they recently fixed it. They have a lot of snow fences blocking many areas of the park.. instead of blockibg off with little fences, I wish they'd properly fix the landscaping issues in these areas of the park so it could be a more open space. Other than that, a nice place, but not quite as nice as my usual spot (Currie). read more

Runway is a really nice dog park - it's huge and completely fenced in. We used to come when our older dog was a pup and needed to run some energy off, and at that time there were lots of big mud holes that she, of course, ran right into. For the most part, any swampy areas seem to be fenced off and trails often are graveled or wood chipped. They have benches here and there and lots of water dishes, so bring a gallon of water and refill them as you go. In general, we have found that people here are pleasant, respectful and clean up after their dogs. Our younger dog really likes it, and I really like that it's WAY less muddy and buggy than Granville. read more

We went to this dog park with our 2 small dogs, under the impression they had a decent small dog area. Dog parks are new for us, so we are being careful about introducing to larger breeds, as we don't get the chance to socialize them often. The "small dog area" is a ~half acre fenced area inside the fenced area (main dog park). The small area gate was too short, so there was a wood plank you have to fiddle with to block the bottom. It also was more overgrown than the main area of the park. There were no chairs or benches. This just isn't the park for us, since the small area was pretty shoddy. This is a good park if you want to walk trails or have a large dog with recall and stays by you. The main park looked really nice and the walking trails I could see in the distance looked great. read more

Great place to take the dogs! Huge fenced in areas with trails, lots of room to run and play. A few picnic benches to take a rest. Bowls all over for dogs to stop and take a drink. They even have poop bags for you to use if doggie has to go. I also actually enjoy being near the airport and seeing the planes land, it's kind of cool! Warning, some areas are muddy so be prepared! Many muddy dogs leave this place and I'm always amazed at how my dog seems to find the mud that I don't see! I bring a towel to wipe the dogs up and cover my backseat with blankets. read more

It is nice and is a big hill to walk around with a trail. It's not too big or too small It is all fenced in so no need to worry about your dog getting lost. My border collie Australian cattle dog (Wishee) loves it there! He just turned a year in January and he's been going there since he was a couple months old. He can run around in the grass and most the dogs I've met love it there! Wishee can get a little muddy after it rains but staff patches up the holes every once and a while. But hey a dog is a dog so a little mud doesn't kill them. There are also a couple hoses to hose them down if they get muddy. I would recommend it for anyone. There is also a small dog area that barely anyone uses but is there just in case. read more

Mud pits everywhere. There's a looping trail that goes around the park but otherwise very tall grass fills pretty much the entire area so not ideal. Would be better if it was mowed just a little bit...our dog left there absolutely filthy. It hadn't rained in several days so I was surprised there was soo much mud everywhere. Be warned. read more

Love this dog park! It's so much larger than the ones on the east side and allows Ludo to run free. Great during all seasons but areas get quite muddy and lots of tall grass/weeds for the dogs to run and jump in. Make sure you keep your pooch up to date with his flea and tick medication. After Ludo's bath (he was head to toe full of mud) I discovered a tick on his belly eek! Make sure you look for them on the ears, belly and groan area. If your dog leaves here less than completely wiped out, you are definitely doing something wrong. This place is: Huge.Vast. Spacious. Your back yard is not. Do your fido a favor and drop the $20 for the annual tag and bring them here to run, roam, and ramble. Mostly, this park offers wide open spaces with a nicely groomed walking path, and a few well placed benches for rest stops. We've been coming here since it opened about 10 years ago. The County has done a nice job with this dog park. Most of the "swampy" areas are well fenced off, so if you're dog listens to you reasonably well, you stand a decent chance of your dog not wallowing in mud. Spring season can be challenging, but those are the risks you take with owning a dog. The one thing I would really like to see is more shade. It looks like they planted about 4 trees 10 years ago, but haven't considered it since. On a hot, sunny, day there is no place to hide. Maybe it has something to do with the Airport, but I doubt it. As with any dog park, it can only be as fun as the other people/dogs that come there. My visits this summer were very pleasant, the other dogs were well (enough) behaved, and the owners were the responsible types. All in all, this is a great park if your dog like to run, and run, and run, and run... read more

Friday is too soon. Bring a showering/bathing tank of water with you most days, not just the iffy ones. Having said that, it's a place I would live in again if I could with my 2 dogs lost to relocation in the Milwaukee area, and I, to somewhere else. Courteous park goers, minimum of dog fighting, maximum of free play and running. Lot of tennis balls and water bowls dot the landscape. I wish dog owners would be more responsible about picking up their dog litter. Truly enjoyed being a part of the community here. You will too. read more

Good size park! This was the first dog park I had taken my dog to. I was a bit concerned at first about how she would do around other dogs but the visit went very well! The park is so open and big that there are plenty of places for a pup to explore. There are fenced in grassy areas for smaller dogs and then walking trails and fields for larger dogs to pounce around and play in. There are several water bowls along the trails but the few times I have taken my dog here it seems that the water bowls were empty. My advice would be to pack a portable bowl and quite a bit of water because your dog will certainly need it after running about and playing at this park! read more

Of course there will be people who look down at your bully breed dog (like my pit) and who scoop their dog up as soon as they see your bully coming.But then there are some very nice people who want to know about your dog and don't judge at all. Best and largest dog park in Milwaukee County. They have 26 acres for dogs to run and play! They have beaten paths for owners to walk, a small dog play area, and TONS of dishes for water along the way (be sure to bring a gallon to fill up as you go). They also provide poo bags and mow frequently. There are benches and picnic tables throughout the park to take a rest or watch the planes above as they take off and land from MKE. It can get windy and noisy, so bring an extra layer most days! Everyone that comes is very respectful and dogs are well behaved. Last winter we had a dog get out of the fence (to no fault of the fence just a very eager puppy - yes, it happens!) and everyone at the park helped out to get the owner over the fence and get the pup back!) Could not say better things about this park. It is a short drive from our house and we love it. Please be sure to check your "kids" for ticks when you get home, as it can get quite grassy and everyone loves to romp off the beaten path! read more

I babysit my sister's dogs (Border collie and long-haired chihuahua) and have 2 dogs of my own (pomeranian and Shar-pei mix) that loved it.They also have a big fenced-in field. They have water bowls all over the place just in case your dog get thirsty. Make sure you bring some towels because there is a minnie mud pool. Dogs are attracted to that. Also if you look at the directions and if it says turn on E. Oak street, last time I was there they closed the road of so just keep following Rawson down and you will see a sign on the left. Besides that it's very nice and they have trails you can walk on. If you forget some doggy bags, they have it taken care of. If you get tired, they have some picnic benches you can sit on. I have a hyper fun loving black lab who really likes to play and run with other dogs. I've been to other dog parks in the past where I don't feel as welcome as I did today at runway. It's easy for my dog to wander off by her self but this park kept her on track since it's got taller grass instead of just a flat field and the dog owners were super welcoming to my dog when she came up to theirs. I will be back to this park 100%! Wish it was a little closer to home. read more
