The work had to be done on a Sunday, I give them credit for that. The young man that did the work was courteous, well mannered and left the worked on space clean and undamaged. The kitchen drain blockage was corrected. But...the cost of the repair was OUTRAGIOUS! Over $400 to clear a stopped up drain. Our water heater mixture was broken, I call RupCoe because they had some good review in other sites. Unfortunately for us the mixture cartridge was discontinued. The plumber said that he called the manufacturer and they said it is not available, so nothing can be done about the shower. I then called the manufacturer to get the diagram, asked him if he can do anything with it. He said nothing can be done expect to replace the whole Standup shower stall as a unit, which was $3,000. I asked him 10 times if there any intermediate solutions and he said no.. I found another company who replaced it because they could find a generic brand and replace it! their check up fees is WASTE OF MONEY!!! read more

Just find another plumber, predatory "house call" fees. I had the pipe between my bathtub waste tee and the trap rust through on me and it needed to be replaced. This pipe was about 10 inches in length, was in an easy to get to spot with plenty of space to work. Rupcoe came, looked at it for about 5 minutes and charged me $60 to tell me I needed to replace everything from the bathtub down, and wanted to charge me $1300 + Tax to do it. I knew this didn't sound right, so I declined the work. I went to GPS in Edison and explained what my situation was, showing him the trap I took off and he explained exactly what I needed and exactly how to do it. I fixed the problem with a $10 part, a single peice of tube. Rupcoe wanted to charge me about $1400 to do work that a simple $10 part was able to replace. I was considering rupcoe to replace our central air system when we had the cash to do it(already have the estimate), but this experience is inexcusable. The only reason they get a 3 is because their customer service was very good, HOWEVER, their prices are very high. They gave me a quote of $690 to replace a sump pump, i got 3 additional quotes well below that price. The additional 3 quotes were all licensed plumbers. read more

There was a leak from our condo which trickled into our neighbor's ceiling. We called them in to look for the leak. The plumber could not find any leaks and said that it was some sort of splurge that caused the stain on the ceiling. He charged $432!!! He spent 40 mins looking for this leak which he couldn't find. Two days later we found the leak was from the hot water heater right next to the bathroom. These guys are huge rip offs. I called them back two days later to understand why they charged such an exorbitant amount for a leak search and to tell them that we found the leak which they didn't. The receptionist said she would have the manager call me back but he never did! Never hire Rupcoe for any services. read more

I can't speak for the earlier reviews, but, I have to say these guys took good care of me, today July 4th. We got up this morning, took showers, and it overflowed our kitchen sink. The sink had previously been clogged and I'd snaked it but CLEARLY did not do a good job of it. Called them as an emergency service call, they came out within 2 hours, used their uber snake, and got us up and running. The price was high, but lets be honest: it was July 4th. $129 for the service call and then another 280 for the snaking. I acknowledge that this price is likely high, but again, emergency call on a holiday? I'll take it, and gladly pay the premium. In addition, Tom came in and my wife asked for assistance locating our main shut off valve when he was done - we forgot all about it and he went out to his truck. He then came BACK to my door, knocked, and reminded me that he needed to show us where the valve is. Thanks Tom for saving our July 4th! read more

On the first cold night of the year, my furnace would not start. I called several companies and only RupCoe said they could make it out. Their serviceman was polite and careful to keep our recently renovated room clean. The transformer that was needed was not in stock but they returned early the next day and installed with no issues. read more

Had a service call for my furnace in the last few days. Called and the lady on the phone was very helpful and nice. The service guy showed up at the time they estimated. Angelo was his name, and this guy was professional, upfront, honest and courteous. He also did the repair in a very short amount of time. Now, look... I know everybody has to make money, but I have a problem with their price structure. So my furnace needed a new thermocouple. The part costs about $13 at home depot, this means that Rupcoe buys it at lets say $10. So after buying it for $10, they sell it at $330!!! To me, that's robbery. Even at the car stealership, they mark up parts at maybe 300 or 400%, but not 3300% Why not sell the part for about $40, and then charge a reasonable labor fee per hour? If the bill had been $180, it would have been fair. Also they charge a dispatch fee of $75 (weekends $129) . Dispatch fee? Why? ... Might as well call it "Extract more money" fee. So basically to replace a $13 part which took literally 10 minutes to replace, i was charged $475. God bless America. read more

So here you go.... First of all, I have been in the construction industry for for over 30 years. We happen to also own a hair salon that my wife operates and normally would deal with building related issues on my own. However, this week was abnormal lows in temps hitting 1 degree and experienced issues with our commercial roof top heating unit at which our temps in the salon dropped to a mere 58 degrees. I received a Facebook referral from a friend to try RupCoe to help... Our first call the office, the receptionist worked diligently to dispatch a tech to the business within a few hours and arrived after we had began to try and see if turning the breakers off and on would hopefully reset the boards/t stats for the unit, and restore the normal operation on the unit. When the techs arrived, the temperature had began to rise a few degrees, and upon arrival, and a short check that there was some heat coming from the diffusers and the unit was running, we paid a bill for the service call of $130.00 and were told the unit seems to be running fine now. The very next day, the staff found the temperature falling thoughout the day and by 9:30 pm it was back down to 58. Deciding that the first issue may be the thermostat going bad, I decided to purchase and swap out the original with a Honeywell Wi-Fi based unit which i purchased at Home Depot and should have been an easy swap.... Turns out the thermostat would not be compatible and as I tried to reinstall the original t-stat, it would not function properly. I then was able to jump out the tstat to just get the heat running for the night. the next day we put a second call into RupCoe and had a team of two techs show up at the business. They wound up replacing the T-Stat (April Aire - Cost $45-$75 max) and wound up charging $300.00 to replace. They would not go up on the roof to do any further diagnostics at the time and claimed the weather temps made it dangerous to do any roof top diagnostics. The bill was paid and we assumed all was taken care of... That night after the Tstat was replaced, the temperature in the salon continued to drop back down to 59 degrees. I took the next day off from work to go to the salon while my wife called RupCoe again to come back to continue to diagnose the issue... As I arrived, the service tech Mike, had apparently just came off the roof and was putting his extension ladder back on the truck, and at which time I pulled up and introduced myself as the owner...He was very rude and offered very little interaction at first, but then proceeded to tell me that there were all kind of issues from the main control board being bad to the flame sensor falling apart. I then asked for him to meet me inside to discuss the issues and costs for repairs. He then came in and was looking at the wiring to the Tstat that was just replaced by them, and turned to me and said "I need a little time to check a few things" at the t-stat at which time he looked at me as to leave him alone while he though things out. He finally said he would have to price things up for the repairs to replace the board (Avg $150-300 for parts) and flame sensor ($10-$30 for part). Price quoted for replacement came back at $1395.00 plus tax. I immediately asked him to call the office as I felt the cost was excessive for the few man hours to replace and costs for components. He came back with a $200.00 discount bringing it to $1195.00. Still outrageous but due to circumstances, I agreed so we can resolve the issue. The tech Mike then left at 11:00 am to pick up the parts from a local supplier ( 15 min away) and did not return until 2:30 and had to still wait for a second tech to arrive to assist with the rooftop work as he stated. When it was all said and done, the second tech stated that the board was not bad at all, and in fact, someone had cross wired something in the unit to cause the heat and AC to run simultaneously, and the board did not have to be replaced. We cannot explain the wiring statement as no one has done anything to the unit except change filters in the past several years, and the unit has operated fine over the same duration. In the end, the cost came down to an additional $595.00 to replace the $20.00 flame sensor and got the unit operating delivering heat as needed on this cold winter week.... $130.00 Service call $300.00 T stat replacement $595.00 Flame sensor replacement $1095 .00 for Tstat and Flame sensor replacement As a business owner and someone in the construction industry, service by the front office and response was excellent, technician skills and ability to correctly troubleshoot the issues were sub-par, diagnostics for the problem was not definitive, resulted in what I considered to be price gouging with excessive pricing by the first technician Mike. The second tech (Paul) identified the problem and came to a quick resolution to restore operations. The owner Steve did in fact my call and tried to justify costs and billing. read more

He didn't charge me because it was a job that initially wasn't done properly. He also did check my AC and told me nothing was wrong with it. He really didn't go above and beyond to help me, he just did the job that I overpaid this company to do in the first place and ended up wasting a lot of my time (and money) as a result. I also don't appreciate being misquoted because I NEVER said that I would recommend this company to anyone or any of that-"gave me several options?" He told me that he could replace the toilet for $600, but that it would be guaranteed. What a ridiculous suggestion. I don't understand why this company has negative reviews. Like my mother said "if you can't say something nice about someone don't say anything at all". Used them a year ago very pleased. 2 Sundays ago I noticed water backup in my laundry sink in the basement. Checked the sink trap it wasn't there. Called RupCoe they had someone at my house within the hour. The Technician found that the blockage was in the main sewer line. Within 30 minutes the blockage was cleared and the water was draining again. These Guys aren't the cheapest guys out there but they are reliable and seem to know what they are doing. Before I started using them I had a plumber (who worked on his own) that I used. He was cheap but unreliable. Unfortunately the last two times I called him, he never answered the phone or called me back. I guess he doesn't need the business. Maybe I should leave him a negative review. Ha Ha read more

OMG, I wish we'd gone to Yelp before we contracted with these people. We have a condo in Bedminster and the water heater broke one day and it had a sticker on it that said it was installed by RupCoe so we called them to diagnose and fix the problem. Turns out the solution is to get a new hot water heater. I never would have gone with somebody with a two star rating. Hindsight, eh? So they charged far more than any of our friends said was reasonable for the task. In the process of removing the water heater, they broke some trim and got greasy hand prints on the wall and stains on the carpet in the space adjacent to the water heater. In short they made a total mess of the work space AND NOW they've missed two appointments to have a carpenter come out to fix those problems. I'm pissed, yes. They really don't even deserve a two star rating from my experience. read more

Don't waste your money. I paid them $454.21 to unclog a toilet. They came out when my bathroom was overflowing during the night when he told us the price upfront we said no. But they he said he would not charge us the service fee and would try his snake first so that we didn't have to go buy one so here i was thinking we were getting a deal from a nice guy. But that was the con. Well i went to sleep and woke up learning they charged us $454.21. With that price i could have gotten a new toilet and sink installed. Stupid me and unethically them. My regular plumber even said they overcharged me and they still didn't fix the issue. Well they came back and he tried to sell me on a new heater and boiler and convince me that i didn't want a 0% loan but instead their high interest financing. Had a problem with water pressure. He arrived on time , went to the basement and turned a few knobs, diagnosed the problem, gave me a price and replaced two faucets. Water seemed to explode from the faucets we tried and he left. Several days later realized one of the faucets had a slow leak and there were gold colored beads clogging up the faucets and shower fixtures. Called and a different plumber showed up he fixed the leak and indicated that the beads were coming from the water softener. There was no charge for the second service call but when he quoted a four thousand dollar charge I showed him the door! read more

I hired this company to troubleshoot and repair, under warranty for our customer, one of our heat pump hot water heaters. The repair technician, without performing any diagnostics, told him that the repair would probably come out to around $1500, and then proceeded to try to sell him a gas tankless water heater. The old, "tell 'em it's too broke to fix then sell 'em a new one" trick. I gave the company our tech support hotline number, which they never bothered to call, so they didn't even attempt to make their guess an educated one. I find this less than scrupulous. read more

I always had an idea they were expensive but I've spent thousands with them over the years (clogged drains, pipe replacements, new furnace and AC, maintenance plans over the years, etc). Loyalty I guess? Their first quote was for $440.00 plux tax to clear a clogged drain (are you kidding me?). They told me that this was the "going rate". When I asked to get a better price, they cut it to $290 plus tax. if I hadn't asked I really would have been taken advantage of (for a long-time repeat customer). I told them no thanks and still had to pay them $63.00 just to drive out and talk to me for 5 minutes. I called another plumber and got the job done for $240.00, I'll never use Rupcoe again. read more

Beware of these guys -- they definitely don't stand behind their work. They came out on a Friday to service my A/C unit which had stopped blowing cold air. They didn't do anything other than turn my circuit breaker back on but still charged $86. I called them back a couple days later that for the exact same problem and they immediately said it would cost an additional $86 dispatch fee, even though it was the exact same problem! Needless to say I told them no way and to get lost! Avoid these guys they are money hungry and obviously don't stand behind their work. Another plus for this homeowner - thanks to Rupcoe! Daquan came out and fixed our clogged toilet. We discussed replacing it as it has had a few problems over the years. He returned with a new one and explained the whole process of the installation clearly to us as to what was being done. We now have a good one and hopefully it will last many years.
